When I try to join a server, I get a "BattlEye Initilization Failed" error. Any tips/trouble-shooting suggestions to resolve this?

Use the position of the sun and shadows to get your bearings. Local time in game should be 7:51 PM.

I can no longer enter servers 
I installed everything manually earlier and I just tried it again. It worked earlier but I can't get into anything now.

Are they all red Xed? Because if so its because you are not actually running the latest Beta version.

Forget sixupdater. Manually DL the latest patch, DayZ, and have the line to put in the startup of Combined Ops in the preferences in of the game in Steam. Copy over the exe's in beta AND make sure you grab the newest BattleEye DLL Nix posted the other day. Launch it in Steam under Combined Ops.
If that doesn't work, I have another fix for you that I posted a few days back that helped at least 1 other person that I pointed to it on Mumble the other night.

Seriously what the fuck! If you are going to have a popular mod, make sure its easy to actually install it.
So I retraced my steps and did exactly what duder in this thread told me.
What happened?
Jesus, I just got this error after trying to fix the game crashing my display driver. I verified the integrity of the game's cache files and it found and re-downloaded two, one was BattleEye apparently.

No, a few are red like you said but most are question marks with yellow around them.

Alright guys, I just bought this game in the last 5 minutes of the Steam sale. Sometime this weekend I will give this game a try. I hope it was worth the money. I watched a few videos of it online and it seems like something I would enjoy. I just fear I am going to die every 5 minutes.

I have all red X's (well, a few yellow circle ? marks) but have the latest beta patch (95208). Any ideas?
Doest it say as much in the bottom right corner in the main menu of the game. You may have updated the Beat to 95208 but you maybe not actually being running as it.

In the server menu on the midscreen right side it shows the version you are running and what the selected server requires, if it says 95208 there as well then I have no idea whats wrong with your setup and would say to start from beginning again step by step. If it doesnt then you arent actually running the game via the Beta Arma2ao.exe and you most likely havent replaced the normal arma2ao.exe with the one from the expansion/beta folder.
You arent running the game in Combined Operations mode but rather simply as just Operation Arrowhead, at least thats what the CA_Dubbing Counterattack thing usually means.
I'm getting this now too. But I also have my own problem of the game killing my display driver (latest NVIDIA).
All these fucking hoops, man.

Yeah, says what is required is the same as what I'm running. I am 100% sure I followed the proper steps. Hmm. Frustrating. I'll keep working on it. Thanks for your help!

was dying of thirst on the forest, couldnt get out, walking in circles. I have soooooooo much good loot that I was freaking out. Thirst starts flashing red. I go on with it flashing for easily 20 minutes.
See a town in the distance, head there, kill like 5 zombies on the way with my hatchet.
Start looting every house, no pepsi cans anywhere.
Finally, when everything was starting to blur and I was almost done for thirst, where do I find one: the church.

Okay, I was able to connect to one server so I'm thinking that you were right about the beta patch. I'll see if I can fix that.

Got it working. I know the server just got hacked, but where's the login info for it?

No login info for servers. It will sometimes lock itself for a few seconds if too many people are trying to connect to it at once to prevent lag and crashes.
If your character died then yes, if not then you should be fine.

Sorry, I should have been more specific, how do I find the GAF server? Filter for the name "GAF" ? I see a couple "UGAF" servers, are those the GAF servers?
EDIT: Never mind, found it.
someone ported us all to the top of a building and started killing us. Like the whole server.
u cant password protect dayz servers
A hacker will port everybody to the roof of a building somewhere and kill them. Super annoying.
Can't, it's against DayZ policy, the server would be banned from the main hive if Nix were to do so.

Got into the GAF server, so it looks like everything is set up correctly. I do see lots of red X's on the server list now, though.
No, you're fine.
The last couple of Beta patches for Arma havent been backwards compatible and not all servers are running the latest Beta patches, so you wont be able to play on those servers.

So got everything installed, I think, but I have no sound in game. I have sound in the menus while im clicking but none while im actually running around.

Dumb question: How do you change your name? Under Player Profile it doesn't seem to be editable.
You have to create a new profile and use that one. And dont worry it wont effect your character in the game.
pretty funny how I logged out like 3 minutes before the server got hacked and after running for my life with great loot for hours.

Do I have to do this every time I respawn? Seems like a huge pain in the ass given the type of game and how long it took me to connect in the first place.
