Some thoughts-
Good
- some voice/dub issues aside, bane was a fucking terrifying villain, and the perfect way to end the series. If they would've improved the voice just a little more he'd easily be up there with Liam Neeson/Joker/Two Face for me, and if I ever watch with subtitles I'll probably like him more. Tom Hardy in the fight scenes was incredible, the last part (which I mostly hated otherwise) where he got to show some emotion was great.
- fight scenes are FAR better than BB or TDK.
- loved JGL's character, the very brief but very cringeworthy "you hothead! Stop playing by your own rules!" moments aside.
- Anne Hathaway was incredibly hot. Holy shit. Best she's looked since Havoc and she wasn't topless in this at all. acting and stuff was good too.
- outstanding acting by Michael Caine and Christian Bale: everyone else was great too, but those two really stood out for me.
- felt the most comic bookish by far which is love or hate, personally loved it. Funniest by a long shot, too, without being really lame or taking away from the seriousness which was the case a lot in the first two
- even if some of it was really blatant and kind of insultingly obvious with nailing the themes into your head...it worked, just the whole thing. For all the negatives I'll list next, this movie just tied it all together in the most satisfying way I seen in a long time. Nolan earned the dumb moments as well as the epic ending, so I really can't fault him at all for the problems I've got. He gave me a perfect Batman trilogy, so yeah "JGL's first name is Robin" was stupid, but I don't care. He earned it.
- Bruce/Alfred ending
Bad
- Marion Cotillard and her whole character. Love her, but it was really dumb, and in my opinion kind of unnecessary. It was like in Scream where Roseanne's sister is in two scenes then jumps out in the end and says "Gotcha! I'm connected to this whole story and am the big twist!" Took me out of the whole thing. lmao at her dramatic eye death.
- so many boring, interchangeable new minor characters, who get so few scenes that I can barely tell them apart, but I'm supposed to care about them all. Did the blond cop die at the end or was that one of the other new characters? I have to just assume some of them were comic shoutouts or something, but it just killed the rhythm for me whenever any of them would show up.
- had a really hard time understanding Hardy at some points. Think that comes down to my bad hearing and the particular theater's really poor audio, though. Really wish it would've been polished more.
- not enough Gordon, and I wish he would have gotten more of an ending.
- would've liked more time spent on Gotham and its citizens going to hell, but I understand why there wasn't more focus on it.
- weird that there was no resolution at all for Juno Temple's character, considering she got just enough screen time and importance that it would've made sense. lol did Selina just ditch her at the end? Or maybe she went with them and Bruce is getting some sweet threeway action.
Rankings best to worst: TDKR, TDK, BB.
