There isn't anybody in this thread (at least in the last few pages) bragging about not eating at Chick-Fil-A. The only people bragging are those who find the need to let everybody know that they'll continue to support the restaurant because they think fried chicken is more important than civil rights.
Ok, let me ask you a few questions and anybody else for that matter. How many of you purchase chicken from super markets like wal-Mart, h-e-b, Randall's, or Krogers, Safeway, or any other place like that? How many of you buy soy products? How many of you eat other fast food? Because if you do any of this you are supporting far worse companies then chickfila, all of you should research the food you buy and what companies actually profit. In other words quit ragging on people when you and most of the other people on this thread support far worse companies then chickfila, all of you are hypocrites (as long as you live in the us). Europeans your government actually seems to give a shit about the food you eat.

I'm hyperbolizing to death, but the number of people in this thread who are trying to be cute is irritating. I don't need everybody to give the topic of gay marriage the same weight as I do, and there are certainly companies and people I support despite disliking their personal viewpoints. The topic of gay rights is of great importance to me and others though, and it would be lovely if people could respect that.Except it doesn't necessarily mean that.
Eating CFA with the knowledge that they give money to anti-gay organizations only means that you feel the food is worth more to you than the fraction of a penny given to said organizations.
The hyperbole in this thread is kinda ridiculous.
I'm not being a hypocrite at all. god you are so self-entitledIf you can't boycott everything, boycott nothing! You show 'em, bro!

I don't understand this line if reasoning at all.Yet you will support Monsanto and Tyson?
I don't personally buy Tyson chicken, but I'm not familiar with either company's actions.Yet you will support Monsanto and Tyson?

That's fair enough. It's not viewpoints like yours I have a problem with; it's the viewpoints of the poster who was just recently banned and others like him I find annoying. It's easy enough to respect that, but at the other end of the spectrum plenty of people find it to be unbelievable that one can still support gay rights and eat at places that have differing viewpoints from them, and they ironically don't respect their choice. It IS something that's still possible. I can believe that gays deserve the right to marry, but I should also be able to eat what I want without my political views coming into question.
Will do.Read up on them, then you really won't want to eat anything.

people lose their shit when they find out an american business is run by a fundamentalist piece of shit, yet they continue to eat everything else that is part of their diet despite a hueg amount of it being made by multinationals that are almost always involved in shady shit. Hell, look at where your chocolate comes from. People feel the need to get worked up about something now and then to justify the parasitic lifestyles we have.
This sort of protest is ultimately flaccid as it doesnt involve any real sort of loss. Giving up meat all together is another issue, or refusing to eat foods produced by a single multinational. These involve commitment and sacrifice (though this is pales in comparison to real protest where people put themselves at risk).
If you can't boycott everything, boycott nothing.
You should say this more.
Honestly if THAT was all it was I wouldn't be annoyed, I do think that people are over scrutinizing individual food choices to an extent. I'm personally not going to eat at CFA and I'm certainly going to encourage people around me to make the same choice... but ultimately that's what it is. In reality the important thing is the aggregate choice that I believe society is going to gradually make, to reject companies that support bigoted causes and restricting other people's freedom to live as they wish.
However, I think what is going on in this thread is slightly worse than a neutral position on CFA's personal views. Instead it seems there are a subset of people (and to some extent it's a subset of the neutral position) that seems actually MORE inclined to eat at CFA because of this thread and CFA's position. That's not a neutral, apolitical position. That's someone actually feeling inclined to support a business intent on supporting causes to dictate the way I live and the choices I'm able to make.
Hyperbole much? I'm sure every worker there hates gays and thinks they are all going to burn... Come the fuck on, and quit patting yourself on the back for not eating there.
Im not saying not to boycott, I just think theres a larger issue to deal with.

Hilarious but also kinda pathetic.
Safety Warning: Does not prevent minorities from seeking equal rightsSafety issue... Teehee
Christian value company forgets 'Thou Shalt Not Lie.' Kind of a big one there, what with it being in the 10 commandments and all.

You answered your own question. They choose to support bigoted organizations with their profits, I choose not to support them by giving them profits. Ideally, yes, this will cause enough of a backlash for them to reevaluate where they donate their profits, but if they insist on sticking to their "beliefs," then so shall I. I don't see why this is a difficult concept for people to grasp.PhoenixDark said:I'm curious, what end game are those upset over this expecting or hoping for? CFA doesn't discriminate customers, but use their first amendment rights to support causes that many people disagree with - but many support as well. I see no reason for outrage or even a reason to care about this. If they want to support bigoted organizations, that is their right. And if you decide not to eat there due to this, that is your right.

I think that might be overthinking things. It seems more like they're grasping for excuses and want to flip the situation around. It looks more like a homophobic joke (possibly conflating homosexuality with pedophilia, though that might be overthinking it) than making up safety issues.
1. I don't to support nor have I supported them for a long time.I'm curious, what end game are those upset over this expecting or hoping for? The company going out of business, being shamed into changing their policy, what exactly?

I can't think of any other safety issue they could invent that's related to puppets, short of swallowing them.Children getting their fingers stuck in puppet holes? Yeah, I find it hard to believe that that's not some kind of (really stupid) gay sex joke.
