I'm sorry, what? Do you think that CFA just has a god-given right to build a location wherever they please? Of course they're subject to the whims of the Boston government, they're trying to build a location in Boston!Idiotic. Where do you draw the line? Are everybody who donates to these organizations free game to whims of Boston gov.?

I think the question people are asking is if its actually by 'whim' or if there's laws/rights that cover this sort of situation.
I have only had their chicken sandwiches a few times but damn... they were tasty
Denying a permit for Chick fil A is stupid. What next, are they going to ban gas stations because oil companies say global warming isn't real? What about churches against gay marriage, should they be banned or at least stripped of non profit?

If people living in a certain place don't want a certain business to operate where they live, they can vote to keep it out.
The Chicago and Boston politicians are using their power to initially block them from opening their business in the city. If the business disputes this, it would be put to a vote. And in this case, obviously the majority Boston and Chicago residents don't want these bigots profiting off their cities.
So, that's how it works.
I've never heard about In N Out's beliefs. Are they also run by Christians? On a related topic, what is In N Out Burger's stance on this issue? Are they funding anti-gay groups as well?
When has it ever been any different? The parts of the bible you don't agree with just don't count. They're not relevant. I'd wish their corporate directors the best of luck with the whole camel through the eye of the needle thing but that's been retconned.Wow.
"Though shall not lie unless it's in the pursuit of persecution against homosexuals"
I've never heard about In N Out's beliefs. Are they also run by Christians?
They are, but they keep it well hidden.

Not sure by who or when the actual banning happened, but props to Stump for finally calling him out.

Huh. That's bizarre, but doesn't bother me.
That's good to hear.Unlike Chick-Fil-A the family that owns In-N-Out Burger are extremely private and haven't voiced their opinion about gay rights issues.
Also unlike Chick-Fil-A, AFAIK they have made no donations to anti-gay groups.
Also unlike Chick-Fil-A, I'm unaware of In-N-Out having any discriminatory hiring practices or firing Muslim employees for not participating in prayer.

I'm surprised that there's never been a ChikfilA in Chicago or Boston. I thought they were a nation-wide chain. Hopefully more cities block them and it forces them to reevaluate their values.
the most surprising thing to me is that people actually like Chick-Fil-A
We had them on campus when I was in college and it was just...a chicken sandiwch. It was OK. even the nuggets were about the same quality as McDonalds. I'd much rather go to Raising Cane's

Well in that case we had better get started immediately. It's going to take a while considering how many break that rule.
Nope nope nope. Take a Chicken Mcnugget and stick it in the fridge. Then eat it in the morning. Tell me how awesome it is(it wont even resemble the taste/consistency of the product you first bought). Do that with one from ChikFilA and other than the obvious difference in temp, it tastes identical to when it was warm. I hate their stance on gays, but their food was/is top-notch. Light years ahead of McDonalds.
I don't think this level of controversy is deserved. Churches everyday speak out against homosexuality. I think if you got In-N-Out on this issue, they would agree too.
If you like the food, eat it. When you buy Lady Gaga's latest single on iTunes, or watching Lindsay Lohan's latest movie, you're also fueling their drug and alcohol addiction. Yet you still do it. What they do with their dollar is their choice. In the end it's an organization that provides a good or a service. Not a person.
hmmm, very simple but misguided and completely inaccurate on so many levels. How to proceed?

Ya know how some places sometimes have those things where they say that a small percent of your purchase will go to a charity or something? That makes people want to eat there, cuz they are not only getting food but contributing in a small way to a good cause. What they do with their dollar is their choice.

People may spend their money how they like, but when you know ahead of time that the money will be going to a cause that you think is despicable, then its a problem. Its essentially like if Chick-Fil-A came out with an ad saying that from now, year-round(not just for a limited time), a small % of anything you buy at Chick-Fil-A will go to fight gay marriage rights. But that would probably make a lot of people NOT want to eat there, right? This is basically the reasoning for those of us choosing to boycott the place.

Errrm so ummmm nope. Eating at Chik Fil A means a portion of my money goes towards the attempt to ban gays from marrying. Whereas if I buy a Lady Gaga song I'm merely helping her die faster. You don't see a difference?
as has already been shown on this very page, they would probably just have no comment on it. They don't make their beliefs on civil rights public, and don't give money against people's rights, which is exactly how a business should work

I read that chick-fil-a is gives donations to a company that connects homosexuality with pedophilia...
