I heard something like married men live longer and I immediately though of a joke about how the same thing can be said about house broken dogs or indoor cats. Does anyone have any idea what comedian/s made a joke like that?
 
I'm hoping that somebody would be able to answer this as I'm pretty much stuck. Recently (Wednesday I believe) the Internet was installed where I currently am (I believe it's a satellite connection. I'm not sure how it's set up to be honest) an it was working fine until yesterday evening when all of a sudden I was unable to connect to the Interne on my laptopt. However, the connection for some reason displays as excellent and I can connect to Steam, my steam friend's list, Steam Downloads and Skype but nothing else. My phone can connect fine (which is what I'm using) but I don't know what to do as MSE shows no viruses and nothing was installed when the connection just suddenly went (a restart of the router or laptop doesn't work either).

I've tried both of them (and thanks for the suggestion) but unfortunately it's to no avail. I think the problem is that my laptop is using 192.168.0.1 as the DNS but everything else that can connect (my phone and a tablet) all display 192.168.2.1 but I've no idea how to change this. I've tried going into command prompt and flushing the DNS but it still reverts to .0.1 as opposed to what everything else is.

EDIT: Figured out how to change it and have regained the ability to connect to the internet properly on my laptop. Thanks for the suggestion once again even though it wasn't what was needed.
 
Is there a website or some such that will stream different genres of music from youtube?

I watch a video on youtube and let it play in the background or in another window on the side of my desktop but after the song has finished i have to select another video, is there an automated thing that can do this for me?
 
Is there a good free photo editing software? I have heard of GIMP but I barely know my way around PS..I can do decent stuff. I don't have monies for PS..

If your gonna go AVG I'd choose Avast over it. But go MSE.




How can I get chinese language pack installed on my Windows 7 pro? I don't want the OS in it but some programs (Like SKYPE) shows boxes. My skype name is in Chinese and I am tired of seeing half my list as boxes.
 
If someone says "they are gonna have you in their ear, *literally*" and meaning having an ear piece so they can hear your voice, that's not "literally", is it? :S

I struggle with this a lot, but out of all the methods I've tried I've found it most effective to assign and dedicate short chunks of time to whatever tasks need getting done, and cycling through them until they are completed.

Ex. 20 mins chapter reading, 20 mins studying, 30 mins working on project. etc.

I think I realized that with myself personally my productivity would go way down as soon as I hit any kind of road block, so dedicating small bits of time and changing tasks kind of gives a good buffer/break to return to the problem with better focus. Your mileage may vary.

Edit: I mostly use it for school/work but I find it works out for recreation as well (I'm the kind of procrastinator that even puts off things I want to do).

You could just serve the file with a barebones webserver. That's what I usually do.
 
My Gaf-account is linked to my Uni-mail adress. This year, however, I'm switching Unis.
Do I have to change to my new adress somehow, or doesn't it really matter?

Oh yes, Avast is definitely a worthy candidate. Frankly, for most pc users a free anti malware solution of MSE, AVG or Avast should be entirely adequate. Only those who go to really dodgy parts of the net or are really geeky :P require anything more involved than those.

I would have no compunction in recommending any of those three to the GAFer who originally asked the question. I have used all three over the years and been very happy with each.

If someone said that to me I would need to ask them what they meant as I would not have the foggiest idea of what they were getting at, irrespective of whether they said literally or not!

My GAF account is still linked to my university email from like a decade ago.

I don't think it's important.
 
If you were to hypothetically drill through the earth, forget about water and a molten core, just a hole straight through, and jump in, would you fall all the way through and fall out of the hole on the other side? Or what would happen...?

I think the consensus is you'd fall almost to the top on the other side (friction from the air would slow you down enough that you wouldn't quite make it), then back toward the original side, again not going quite as high due to friction, and you'd yo-yo back and forth until eventually you came to a stop in the center.

you'd die from the heat and atmophereic pressure long before you got to the center.

In fact you'd never be able to drill a hole through the earth in the first place because nothing you lined the hole with would be able to withstand the heat and pressure so the core would squeeze back into a sphere.

I personally say plug in/unplug, while she swears by plug in/plug out. This blows my mind because it doesn't make logical sense to me, yet I've known a few people to say it.

Who's right?

I'm not a native English speaker, so don't take my word as gospel, but I'd say you're right. I've never heard 'plug out' used before, I've always heard 'unplug'.
 
I've never heard "plug out" before. Yours is definitely the standard usage.

Not sure if it's actually grammatically incorrect. I'd have to think about that a bit more.

"Plug out" is a valid expression. I don't know where it comes from. No one uses it.

Edit: Wiktionary says Irish.

Nope, tags are only given out by mods (I guess admins can give you tags too, but Evilore and whatshisname generally don't give out tags AFAIK). There used to be mod-created/mod-sanctioned tag fishing threads back in the day, I think it was in one of Dragona's tag-fishing threads I got my tag.
