Hmmm, is there something you'd like to tell us? ;)

Yes, I taught HIV and STI education online in a chatroom funded by the Indiana AIDS Fund for about 3 years. I'm both a Planned Parenthood Peer Educator, as well as certified to teach level 1 & 2 HIV Education through the Red Cross of America. ;)

men who have sex with me

You guys remember ZephyrFate, right? Well his second book, The Dream Cosmopolitan is available now.
I bought the first one but still haven't read it yet lol. >.>

Gonorrhea and chlamydia are common STIs that can infect any mucosal tissue, and isn't uncommon among MSM (men who have sex with me) who are the receptive partners.
I'm also pretty sure that rates of bacterial STI's are on the increase amongst youth in my part of the world, so I'm glad that they do a very thorough screen at the clinic I go to. (Good to see you back btw excelforward. :) )

For the uninitiated: They swab inside your butt, the back of your throat and inside your urethra. They also take a urine sample and some blood samples. This will pick up the vast majority of STI/STD's, bar a yeast infection or HPV - which if they were bad enough would probably be caught upon examination by the doctor anyway.

When Ricky first visited me we both went to the clinic together, how romantic. :3

It is finally my Birthday!!
Happy birthday Jeff! Hope it's a good one.

Hey now, I think I'm plenty charming.

So, I stopped going.

I hope you've been looking for another counselor to go to.

I've never heard of a therapist say something like that to their clients.

One of my ex-girlfriend's counselor said some pretty stupid things. These professionals are, at the end of the day, still people with their own personal beliefs and biases. Some things they may not understand or even hold an unfavourable view towards. The important thing is to find the good ones.

Just like there are crappy doctors, there are terrible counselors.

Does the eight in your name have meaning?

I can't stand when the doctor tries to swab the back of my throat. I always gag and he eventually gives up. lol (It's sort of mortifying though. ;_; Isn't there a way to kill your gag reflex? Like squeezing your right thumb or something?)

Cool. Know any good online resources for learning about HIV/STIs?

I don't know anything about surpressing gag reflexes, unfortunately, other than that they are kind of pre-determined.

As to online resources, I primarily used the CDC website for the basics and the full clinical details. If you want, I can send you the slideshow I use for classes I teach that covers most of the basics. Just PM your email, and I'll email you the slideshow (it's in .ppt format).

practice on yourself /trollface.

But my dick isn't that long.

or did you mean that I should buy some swabs and practice with those? >.>

What's with all these swab tests? Every STI test I've done (chlamydia, syphilis, HIV, the works) has been a urine/blood test at most. They're supposed to be highly accurate, no?

I only get throat swabs to check for strep when I suspect a throat infection.

For future reference: sweet tea flavored vodka is a no no. Im not sure what it has to do with not being straight but I'm posting here!

The swab test relies on your gag reflex, no? It causes you to cough up mucus, which is what they run through tests.

I imagine it would be super awkward if the doctor kept sticking the swab down your throat and you didn't react at all because you got rid of your gag reflex.

I believe the "thumb trick" involves making a tight fist with your left hand with your thumb inside.

banana, cucumber, speared kiwi. all suggestions to help with your gagging problem. i Sometimes stick my finger down there to see how far it can go :P

I have a strange craving for a fruit smoothie now.

Fun fact, I only gag on small things, toothbrush, swab, finger and so on. However, lager object's like oh I don't know banana's, no problem!

I'm afraid to deep throat bananas. Part of it will break off in my throat and I'll choke to death. :(

Oh yeah that's it. I'mma try it next time.

From personal experience I think that gagging or not is mostly about training yourself. I consider myself good with it (as to not have it happen), but it also depends on the size. That thumb trick has never worked for me!

I'm so proud of myself for surviving through 5 days without contacting him.
Unless constantly checking his twitter account count as contact :(
I've been on the verge of talking to him a couple of times but I just think about how bad I'll feel afterwards and come back to my senses.

I'm kind of dreading the day when he writes to me, I think he may want to know how I've been doing/feeling (it has happened the last few times I avoided him, even though we didn't really talk about stopping this altogether those times, it was just me staying away. So maybe he won't try contacting me again).

Also the day I see him on the streets:
A) By himself (by myself)
B) By himself (with my ex)
C) With his boyfriend (by myself)
D) With his boyfriend (with my ex)

I'm terrified about the outcome of any of those situations... I'm sure if we bump into each other on our own it's gonna be OK, just slightly sad for me afterwards. But the thought of my ex, him and his boyfriend on the same room... I really hope that doesn't happen any time soon.

Hope you like vocal trance

It takes time... but you'll get better and move on.

I love when the only argument a person can come up with in regards to gay marriage is that it's immoral in regards to their religious beliefs. Fortunately for the world we have separation of church and state.

I like the idea, why not show pics of us? Doing it in a place of our own sounds like a good idea, without the big, non-gay GAF masses.

Anyway, bought a shirt today and wanted to test my parent's camera, stll not the best quality but better than anything I have done in the last months qualitywise, lol.

I couldn't think of any decent facial expression so it sucks but I like the shirt.

Anyone here watches RuPaul's Drag Race? My boyfriend got me into it and I completely love it. It has helped me come to terms with the drag world, as I didn't fully understand it or "embrace" it, I guess. I always had been over zealous of distancing myself from the queerness/gayness of being gay, even if my family were always ok with me being gay, it is true that they didn't fancy the whole "pride" and being an activist in the LGBT community. The show has helped me come to terms with that, accepting that as a gay person out of the closet it's unfair for me to diminish what others have fought so hard to achieve, and in part, we have to thank the drags!

That's just my point of view anyway.I feel the show has broke the final barrier and has made me 100% comfortable with who I am, but also comfortable of the community I am part of!

Pd. Nobody post spoilers for seasons 3 and 4 please! ;_;

I'm pretty sure the swab tests are to pick up bacterial STI's, and swabbing your throat for example could pick up an infection there that hasn't yet spread further (so perhaps that early the urine test wouldn't be as effective?). I'm not really sure, the swab test is either more accurate, cheaper, or both.

The swab test relies on your gag reflex, no? It causes you to cough up mucus, which is what they run through tests.

I don't think it relies on your gag reflex, they're just trying to get at any bacteria that may be living at the back of your throat. Even the tiniest amount of bacteria will show up on the test they do so gag or not it won't matter. :)

Is it wrong that I know exactly what anime this comes from? (Kuroshitsuji) What a weird but funny show.

I was trying to think of something really clever to say but it's too early in the morning. Short answer - no.

Well... there was the real pic July thing going on.

And no, SomeoneCool, I'm not going to post my avatar in full.
