3DSXL looks freaking huge. I think it ate the charge cradle. Though, I do admit, the screen size is pretty nice. I feel bad for foreign regions, though. No charge cable packed in? That freaking sucks.
If you've never owned a DS? Probably. The DS has an awesome backlog (though some games are harder to come by these days) while you wait for the 3DS' library to round out a bit more.
On a side note, I really hate the NSMB series' music. Those 'WAH, WAHs' got old fast even in the first game.
I think that's when it's worth the most. The DS library alone is huge and the 3DS one is likely to grow, so...

You just need to be a lot more aware of your surroundings at all times, plan your routes carefully, make sure you have plenty of gas in your car beforehand, etc.
