It's voluntary on MS's part though, there's no need for them to require a connection for ratings purposes.

There's an app you can download for Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices called My Xbox Live that allows you to control your xbox from your device basically. It's pretty neat, I just hope games like Halo 4(5?) actually end up using it.

My Pins has just deleted all contents. Guess that's why they call it a beta.
Indie Games get 'hidden' and people complain. They're put front and center and...people complain.

Well no, my point is, they have a nice huge section in the games tab that's actually easy to find now. Indie games are no longer subjugated to 10 or more button presses in order to be found, it's great. So why mix that in with XBLA and Full Retail games, especially when no one actually seems to be managing what goes up there?.

I don't understand why you're giving microsoft the benefit of the doubt here? This is a beta in rolling waves, made specifically to find new problems and report them. "nit picking" is especially what needs to happen here.
Mesoian i agree, i see what you're getting at now..I think it would be better if the new releases tab sorted them out like how they sorted indie, on demand and arcade on the browse games dash.
Example: press new releases you get taken to a section with areas i outlined in red showing new releases for each type.

EDIT: On a sub-note... knowing what a fan for XBLIG you are; what are your thoughts on the indie placement on the new dash?
Looks like less of the bottom of your theme is being covered by the gray fadey thing, is the rest of the dashboard like that as well? It looks pretty nice in that screen.
Yup, it feels like they're giving you a little more background restate, which is nice if you're sporting a custom wallpaper like I am.

Yes, although it doesn't work as well with all themes. Some themes added their own colour layer to the lower half (like brown or green) and they still look they did before; I.e. you still cannot see the bottom half, but I guess they couldn't do anything about that.
I'm already happy they finally sorted this out so won't worry too much about a few themes not working perfectly.

Press x for more options
Games present an option to pin, other apps require you to press X for more options then Pin to Home appears.

I missed the sign up for the Beta. I haven't missed one since I got my XBox. Signed up for the Italian Beta yesterday thanks to a post on here. Was able to redeem my code on the US site with my US account. Ran the registration app and updated within a few hours. I like IE, though I can't really figure out what I'll use it for. Tried Wolfenstein 3D html5 version, but couldn't figure out the controls. I wish more video sites were html5 compatible, especially twitch.tv. I hope, but doubt, people will code some web games and web apps to work with the controller. Even gmail has to be used in the degraded html version because it detects ie but not activeX. This would be a great backdoor to some XBox development, depending on how much access the browser has to the controller or maybe even the Kinect camera.
Twitch TV is getting an official app for Xbox.
If anyone still wants in the Italian/French registration is still open.

Okay, major props to MS for their recommendations tiles. It recommended me Vanquish based on my playing bayonetta and another title that I forget, it also recommended Bulletwitch based on my playing Enslaved.

I wouldn't count on that. The Smartglass stuff probably needs more horsepower than the Zune offers. plus is the Zune even capable of running apps?
if you need an MP3 player i mean just get the iPod Touch and be done with it or get a Nexus 7 tablet or something.

I mean previous updates were in November... even preview were around that time...
Time wise they could have stuffed more in, makes me think there isn't much more they want to add, which makes me think it's the last big update...

One change I noticed was that my Castlevania HD premium theme no longer puts a white cloudy haze on the bottom in the main menu. Now it's all black. This interface is a big improvement over the last one.

Wasn't there a previous dashboard update that ran great during the beta and then went to shit once it went public? Hope this isn't the case. It feels way faster now.

I'm sure the Xbox 8 will launch with some kind of Metro UI yeah.
I still don't like the marketplace and de-emphasis on games.
I don't care for for the ipod so that's a no. I just want a replacement for my old Zune and I was looking into the touch screen 32gig Zune HD's. I'd have to order it but it's cheap refurbished plus you can download games and apps if I needed/wanted to.
Oh well, back to the drawing board.
Yes, and all of a sudden the value of the chatpad sky-rocketed. I used it in the past but having it now means web browsing is a breeze. I recommend it for all 360 gamers now.
This is bar far the best Dashboard since the blades and I believe it to be the last 'big' update before the next Xbox releases. However, MS may continue to support and update the 360 well into the next consoles life.. who knows. In regards to next gens interface? I expect it to share similarities but it will have to look and feel different in order to feel 'new.' I suspect the next Xbox will be even more Metro and Windows 8-like and integrated with services like SkyDrive etc.. I imagine the core functionality of the next Xbox will be so akin to Windows 8 that it will be hard to tell them apart... funtionality wise that is. I suspect Windows 8 services will be present in Xbox and be 100% transparent. SkyDrive, Azure, and other cloud bases services should behave the same regardless of platform (Windows, Xbox, or Phone). Applications designed for Windows will run on Xbox, and will run on Phone.. so you'll see UI similarities across all platforms going forward.
MS will want Xbox users to be comfortable jumping between Windows and/or Phone and vise versa. Next gen is going to be quite interesting on the MS front, can't really see what Sony or Nintendo can do to compete against this. I'm sure they'll try, and I'm sure they'll use marketable things like "free" online to convince people their services are on par.

Have you enabled it in your Xbox? What happens when you select Connect to Xbox?So I have the My Xbox Live app but it doesn't show me or offer me to control my xbox with it.
