Looking at that limited edition makes me think I may pick up the standard edition instead. Only thing holding me back is the inclusion of the map packs, which I know I'll probably buy anyway if I get the SE.
 
I'm still definitely getting the LE. I should probably get around to ordering that.

Also, HaloGAF, maybe Dani would know the answer to this, but how do I go about changing my GAF name? Mainly want to get it to match my gamertag. Do I just pm a mod/admin?
 
This is weird. People are saying LE of Halo 3 and Reach were hard to find after launch. Maybe it's just my area but with H3 I got the Legendary and even at my local Hot Topic they had limiteds stocked up and FYEs and Frys and same with Reach. Walmart and Target still have a bunch of limiteds. I take it it's just my area?

Yep, ask a mod/admin. You'll be placed in a queue and they'll change it when they get a chance to do so.

Yeah, I'm only getting it for the map packs. I barely care about the other stuff.

Solution: don't buy that stupid bullshit. Buy Halo 4 for $60 and spend the rest on a nice meal and beer. The LE content amounts to roughly $3.50 worth of paper and packaging. You don't even get a plastic statue made in China this time. It's almost objectively not worth it.

Drives me crazy -- in general, not just with Halo -- to see people get bilked out of money by publishers who prey on the most dedicated members of their fanbase.

With a bit of luck, maybe I can actually play them in matchmaking this time around.

Besides the fact that the LE comes included with three future DLC map packs, of which you'd spend $10 each on in MS points, so you're roughly paying $65 for the game (tax included), $30 for maps you'd spend regardless, and $5 for "paper and packaging." Looks like they're not overcharging too much for paper if your $3.50 estimate is accurate (which I doubt it is).

Halo 3 LE was massively overproduced because MS overestimated the demand for it. Halo Reach's LE actually was about to be completely sold out and depleted but MS ordered another run. Hence the leftover copies.

As for me, I got the Reach Legendary because it was going to be the last Bungie Halo and for various other reasons. I didn't get the 3 Legendary and I had already told people at the time that I was just going to get the normal version of the next Halo game :P

Same, that's the main reason for me getting the LE since I'll end up buying them anyway. Although I would have liked something similar to Halsey's Journal.....
 
Surely there's not an early access deal for LE owners on the DLC, right? I can't remember if I read that anywhere or not? That's pretty much the difference for me... I wouldn't be able to stand seeing new maps out there without having access to them. I literally would give away the extra content to someone on here as I'm not into that stuff, so the map access bit is pretty important to me at least.
 
Oh yeah, and getting 10 instant armor upgrades with the LE is a selling point for me, too. I want to get through that grind ASAP.

I have to admit it'll be nice having some diversity early on. Can you imagine what it's going to be like in vanilla matchmaking when not everyone's unlocked Hologram yet? So much potential for fucking with people.

Doesn't say anything about early access, just that you'll get them. I'd assume if it were early access, they would say something about it to sell you on the more expensive package.
 
LE looks pretty lame. just getting it for the maps though anyway. getting console as well.

also, I am kinda disappointing that i cant spawn with the shotgun. considering shotguns are always my favorite weapons in video games. i really love battlefield 3's multitude of shotguns to choose from, also the non-auto shotties take a good amount of skill to use. im sure there is a way to balance the shotgun, but oh well.

makes me wonder though, do you think 343 would let you customize what weapons you get in ordinance? i mean call of duty has custom killstreaks, and that's obviously where 343 got the idea for ordinance. like every time you get ordinance you could have shotty and sticky detonator to choose from. don't know if this would be good or bad, but at this point i could see it happening. (powerups should always be random though)

EDIT: i bet if you could call in Reach Grenade launchers all the time, people here would love it ;)

If the map packs(of which there are 3 maps per pack) come out at 800 MSP(that's 10 USD) each then you'd still be paying an extra 10 dollars for that season pass if you buy the LE.

Even if each map pack ends up costing $15 separately then the LE would only be giving you a savings of 5 dollars.

There is no season pass though? You just mean the War Games packs, that you pay for upfront with the LE?

I will be branding the new UNSC logo on my back upon the arrival of my Limited copy, personally. If I pass out from the pain then I have to give all my armor specializations to GAF juniors and Halo Waypoint members.
