Darksiders 2 new info! [one month away from release]

LOL I wouldn't worry

Holy crap! Those look friggin' bad-ass! But I'll be honest, I'm going to miss War. Death doesn't seem to talk much, does he?

He actually seems like he is going to talk even more than War did. War was actually pretty quiet in Darksiders. Death is also being voiced by Michael Wincott (Top Dollar from The Crow). That dudes voice is gravely an awesome.

Yeah looking forward to hearing the voice acting for Death. I don't really get the hate that some people bring up regarding War's voice acting. I thought it was pretty stellar and quite fitting to the character.

They also fired 80 people from the studio a month before they went from building it to polishing it.

Don't need all the world building and modeling people for polishing. Was prob to cut cost at the end for the final push with area's that were not needed.

That's not reassuring. Maybe this game really is incomplete.

That used to be the case, but this gen completely changed that. Now, even if a game's review embargo is "late," it's not necessarily a red flag anymore.

I think part of that can also be attributed to gaming sites/pubs being scattered all over the world. Logically, publishers would want each and every outlet to have their review up around/or near the same timeframe...thus not giving X site an edge in terms of hits.

Really? I haven't heard him say much, but then again, I'm not really watching each trailer as I don't want anything spoiled.

I found War's voice in DS1 good. It certainly added to the comic book vibe that Joe Mad was obviously going for. Really? People found it bad?

Some people hate the art style, and they hated the voice acting saying it was too gravely and annoying or some shit.

I just learned that the collector's edition is sold out in the US. Wow. Either this was a very limited release or it's a sign of high sales for DS. I'm sure glad that I put my order in months ago.

Well, War wasn't exactly a charmer. All he did was growling about how angry he was.

From what the trailers suggest so far, Death seems more like the clever, manipulative one.
I love the soothing way he says "I have an offer in mind" in one of those old trailers.

I'm extremely curious to see what they will do with Dark Millenium as a single player.
The idea of a whole MMO world recycled for a single player game is exciting, but then you have to wonder if the core game mechanics and NPC interactions will be suited for the task.

I don't want to be negative here but when GB (a 360 focused site mostly) gets the PS3 review code, you should know the other version might have serious issue.

Actually I'd say "when someone doesn't try to shove an office handson of a 360 version down our throat for a PS3 magazine review, you're pretty sure all versions are gonna be on par".

Increasingly rare these days, I might add :\

Tragic, any word on that combo video? I can't see why thq would have a problem with it, its a perfect sales tool. Ironically enough, yours and isdelicas early dante combos for mvc3 sold me and I'd imagine many people that game, so there is a precedent.

There is no conspiracy talk here, I was just worried, since lack of footage,GB getting a version for a system they don't cover much sounded a bit weird, that all.

Uhhh, they cover plenty of PS3 stuff. Publisher choose what version to send out.

Question for the devs here, are you using the space on blu-ray for anything extra? Like higher bitrate on the cutscenes or something?

Is there an optional install? I am all for installing if it shortens load times! Got 320GB, let me use it!

This time, all cinematics are rendered with game engine. No more crappy BINK compression. :D

Well, knowing it was to stop development on that MMO is reassuring. It was smart of them to stop it from being an MMO regardless of THQ's situation.

Kingdoms of Amaluer: Reckoning was sort of like that, and it was pretty okay.

The 40K Universe has potential to be cool, as long as it's deeper than "Kill all of these Orcs/Chaos dudes" and you get to explore the actual Universe (of the franchise, not literal Space exploration, although...)

I really didn't like it much.
I have better expectations (maybe misplaced) for Dark Millenium.

Oh, and this gif reminds me another point... I really hope there's more room for mounted combat in this sequel.
In the first Darksiders Ruin had a very marginal role outside of the Ashlands, which was disappointing because it was awesome to use. There were even a couple of areas where the impossibility to ride it felt quite "arbitrary".

Oh if it's actually about Strife that would be really cool.

Darksiders as a franchise where each Horseman's game is mechanically different? The coolest franchise.

edit: How can anyone hate the art? It's so 90s. :V

Honestly if I can just go check out a Necron or two and walk around a Tomb World, shoot a Tau in the head, or even hang out in some Imperial City and read up on some neato lore. I would be just fine with the game regardless of quality.

Just anything interesting with the universe that isn't a goddamned RTS.

Ah, could be. But I liked it. Reminded me of old-school comics but in a good way.

Anyone know if the Pauldron armor and Chaos Fang Darksiders II "gift" to DS1 players stack? I mean, both have an increase in crit damage, so equipping them both means it stacks?

Damnit! I finished DS1 on Xbox and now I'm getting DS2 on PS3! What to do?!

2 options:
- find the game somehow and just start playing it to earn any achivement [this will give you lvl1 legendary scythes]
- find someone who will send you those items via Darksdiers 2 in-game trading system

The only issue I have with the PC version of the original game is the hit-or-miss registering of Steam Achievements. For example, I never got "Bat Out Of Hell" for defeating the Bat Queen.

Same with me, few boss fights never got me an achievement.

War's voice was a little overdone at times. Like he was saying something deep and epic every single time when he wasn't lol.

In this aspect DII is the same, but I actually liked it. Seems to me that the character is more in synch with the acting tone. On a side note: voice acting and adaptation (for Italy, at least) is VERY well done.

I had that issue with some items but bosses seemed to work fine.

For people switching to PC couldn't they try to find a save close to the end and then just beat the last boss to get the clear game achievement? I've seen it work with some other steam games(Y's just a month ago in fact) so it should work here I think.

I really enjoyed Liam O'Brien's voice acting for War. I can understand people feeling it was a little hokey but I thought it was perfect for the game and the writing. War was completely awesome. I didn't really feel War came off angry, sure there was some of that smouldering beneath the surface but I thought he mostly sort of came off detached in a way that really suited a Horseman considering their role in the Darksiders universe.

Why the hell would you want to play an action game with mouse & keyboard. There is absolutely no benefit.

Because plugging in a control pad to a PC is sacrilegious, right?

But seriously, some people are just more comfortable with M+KB. If so, more power to them. It's definitely a good thing that Vigil provides multiple ways of controlling the game on PC as that version of DS2 is truly the definitive version.

Even though I've never managed to complete the original and used it as a sleep aid, I'm gonna go find a copy today and plow through it this weekend so I can get those pauldrons and that scythe.

Every time someone makes a claim like this for Darksiders, I can't help but wonder what games he/she found enjoyable in recent times.

I enjoy mostly everything
That's exactly my point: I don't.
And while I don't think Darksiders is a perfect game or the single best thing in years, I really have a hard time listing more than, say, ten recent titles I would prefer to it.
It gets even harder when you have to limit the choices to the same genre, action adventures.

The two Batman games are a good start, but then..?
If someone would dare to say to me that any Assassin's Creed is better than Darksiders I would laugh at his face, for instance.

Looks like I will not be getting the bonus item for beating Darksiders 1. Steam achievements aren't unlocking, and I really don't feel like putting in all the effort to get through the game again without the reward.

Well not AC but AC2 is better IMO.

So is it confirmed 100% that the dual scythe is your only 'main weapon' option and everything else goes into sub weapon?
