Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

Stress test should last 4 hours. It'll be a good opportunity to test out new binds. The Gem Store and sometimes even the Trading Post also has a habit of being unavailable during stress tests.

I'll be able to get into the test a couple of hours in, so I'm thinking of just trying out some builds in sPVP till it ends. Not really enough time to delve into anything too deeply that requires travel time.

Since the game is basically one worldwide server, can't one just by it for a different territory for cheaper if they are getting screwed by the dollar conversion?

Did they start an hour early on the last stress test? I'm sure they did for the BWE's, but that's probably a different boat.

I need the EU version for EU support.

Not to shabby of a price, if you take into account there is no monthly fee or any P2W items in the Black Lion Trading Company.

Heck, I've paid way more than that for collector's editions that are now never played and collecting dust.

It's $77. There's no excuse for it to be this high. I'll just have to be patient and wait for a GMG code.

And surely the fact that there's a cash shop means that the price of entry should be lower?

There are no guidelines by which the company must price its product. Having a cash shop doesnt mean that the game's entry price need be affected.

And that does nothing to convince me it's not regional price gouging. So it's either wait for a voucher code or get the DVD version and miss out on the headstart.

£35 on average, which comes up to just over $50. This really sucks because I really want this game.

Green Man Gaming, I'm sure, will have another coupon before release. They have had a coupon for this game every few days. Heck, one such coupon, PLAYF-SURVY-VOUCH, for 20% off, supposedly only expired an hour or two ago.

I don't understand why this regional price difference ever happens, especially in large markets. Major console and PC releases are pretty much always $60 in the US, with some PC games still starting at $50.

I would expect a standard price with little variance in most areas, unless it's a small market that's not established.

It happens because the companies can still sell their products at the inflated prices in those markets. And 'not established' markets tend to get things for less from smarter companies.

Damn - still have no idea what to do for the 4 hours during the Stress Test. Don't really want to get into WvWvW/sPvP but I don't really want to advance my story much either! Aaaah so many questions...

Test builds and get your character creation options set for release.

Gonna try out the classes I don't know yet. Anyone else waiting for that "it's up" post in here? :/

GW1: War in Kryta is the most ridiculously awful content I have played in the entire franchise.

It's like they tried to squeeze out as much time as possible, to make it seem like a lot of free content, by using stupid tricks to prolong it. A lot of running back and forth, missions with spawns that are sitting side by side, mobs that heal and ressurect more than they dish damage.

The worst was last night. Some mission involving an Asuran lab on Divinity Coast. Basically run to point A, fight your way to get a key at point B, walk to point A again as mobs spawn on you every 10 seconds, then fight your way to point C. Here's a special one-use item for fighting tough mobs. Get knocked down, drop the special item, have to run back to point A to get a new one. Rinse and repeat. I ended up just quitting. I may be done with GW1.

That post usually comes up 5-10 mins after it comes up. I feel like when most people discover it they go "O_O must play" and don't post.

I'll just be testing builds in sPvP. Mainly the Engi as that's what i'm leaning towards for launch yet i havn't really played with it much yet.

Sounds like you described Factions and Nightfall for me. lol.

I spent a good amount of time last BWE staring at the gate to Oomi's lab in Metrica Province, thinking that it was the entrance to the jumping puzzle and I had to wait for some dynamic event to trigger it to open.

Now I realize the entrance is near there and just hidden well, so I'm going to go try to find and do that. After that I may try to jump into some WvWvW.

Since we talked about mice and gaming keypads a few pages back... here's my setup for my G13 so far (it's incomplete):

I use a few modifiers for similar actions in other games for parity.

Hey guys. We highly encourage you guys join in also on Gafguild.com We want to be able to discuss stuff about the guild, discuss the game. Of course this doesn't mean that you have to leave the GAF thread but it's hard to juggle multiple topics at the same time so having a board with different topics threads and such will help. Plus the Officers are trying to get opinions and such and it'll be helpful if you join and give your input! Thanks!

The first 13 (!) Winds of Change quests are much worse.

I have tried, and tried to use the thumb stick for movement, I just cant ever get comfortable with it. Obviously lessens my available keys using G4, G10, G11, and G12 for WASD, but I manage fine with all the buttons on my G700.

I joined but that place is not iPhone friendly. =[

I will say it took me a while to get used to the analog coming from a Belkin Nostromo n52 for years but it feels natural to me now.

G700 is a sweet piece. I think it has just the right amount of buttons for a mouse you can use for MMO, FPS, RTS, Action, etc. I just purchased my G500 this week and am loving it. I was considering the G700 but got the 500 for a great price.

I don't use the top buttons other than DPI tweaks in FPS - but 3 side buttons is a nice place for me and my playstyle. I might change up F2-F4 and throw them on my G13 - I haven't done too much configuring with it - I usually try to keep a tight cluster and use the modifier for the rightmost 3 buttons on the top two rows.

Other than those two peripherals I use my wired 360 controller for most other games like action games, racing games, etc. Batman, for example, is much more enjoyable with my 360 controller than my G13 and G500.

I just use the default mouse functions, plus I have a thumb button bound to dodge (and turned off double tap to dodge, I kept dodging to my death while trying to creeping up to ledges).

Not that I have any more mouse buttons to use anyway. I have an MX518, and with claw crip + my hand size, I can't even reach the front thumb button. I need a smaller mouse, but this mouse has lasted me a decade and don't want to buy something that'll just break or be too big.

Do what I'm doing... wander around aimlessly and enjoy the sights. Good times!

This seems like a good idea actually! I didn't really get a good feel for Dynamic events and felt pretty lost since there were things popping up everywhere at some points and nothing but a heart or two at other points. I think I'll try and play with crafting a bit too!

I get the feeling we won't get a 45 minute headstart this time.
edit: it's up!
