Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

One of the events in metrica last bwe was almost impossible, the one with the hologram things and those necro pets spawning a jillion at a time >.<

Norn? Ew >.<

Ran around Lion's Arch for 15 minutes. It's beautiful (never really noticed before).

Glorious.

That was all I got to play because I got home like 40 minutes ago.

You'll notice arrows encircling the 1 skill. Ctrl right click to assign "auto" to any skill and it will repeatedly use that ability when off cooldown. Probably best used for 1 so you don't repeatedly mash.

Wasn't aware of this. This is great.

Some changes:

Added 1 Renown Heart since BWE3
Added 12 Skill Challenges since BWE3
Added 32 PoIs since BWE3
Added 69 Vistas since BWE3
Added 7 Waypoints since BWE3

Oh and when you come across a new area and it says Discovered X area, your character now has a line of dialogue.

Look at that beautiful bastard. I enjoyed the start of his story quite a lot more than the human thief I made. Though I do like the little graphic/noise that thieves get when they dodge. Totally overpowered please nerf.

Was able to visit Skrittsburgh. Pretty cool little system they have for it. Sort of a preview of things to come later on?

Basically Skrittsburgh has:

-A Skritt King
-Full of buried junk from different races
-Vendors, crafting stations, merchants and special Shinies Merchants. A small city with city amenities.
-Different parts with hearts in a couple of places.
-Exists within a Dynamic Event cycle

The last bit means, if the city gets attacked and isn't defended, then they close the doors to outsiders. If the King dies, they kick out all foriegners inside. You then have to wait for them to elect a new Skritt King and do some dynamic events in the outside boroughs to gain their trust. This means two or three different dynamic events. Once these are cleared, along with all their stages, then the Skritt open up the city again. Eventually, the King and the city will be attacked again. This can be by human bandits, destroyers, the Nightmare Court or the Inquest.
Sounds very cool. Glad to see something like this in the game.

Well, Ive definitely decided the first thing I am going to do once i get past the intro is play sPvP. Really cant beat free 8 slot bags. Ill be doing that until I get em all. 2 only took like an hour. hopefully the other 3 wont take much more than that

Also when switching attunements on the Ele, there's multiple lines of dialogue for each and I do believe it's even different based on your race because Human Eles talk about the six gods where as my Asura Ele obviously didn't.

Rangers:

More audio notifications (ranger):

"I chose you" / "Come here!" when you swap pet (also two whistles)
"My pet needs healing" when they're near death (or dead)

Ranger controls changed:

Passive/Defend toggle no longer set to a key
Return to me now F3, essentially pet dodge

I tried a dual pistol condition build on my Engi and won a ton of games in sPvP...went from rank 3 to 8 in two hours, and I had two extra bags that I couldn't use.

One thing that bugged me in BWE3 was with other player's pets that had no health. In WvW, I was always trying to revive people who had been taken down, and in a huge melee, it's hard to really see who is down or up. I would rely on the popup text that said "F: Revive". It sucks seeing that prompt, start reviving, then notice that you just wasted 5+ seconds on a Ranger's pet.

I hope this is something they fix for release. Don't display the prompt if it's not a player.

Or have it read: 'F: Revive (Pet)'.

Oh god no....Was it to the point where it annoying after awhile? I would hate to spend hundreds of hours on a toon with those sayings (especially the healing/death one since they die constantly in WvW/PvP) repeated over and over.

My Charr Warrior apparently loved to tell me how much adrenaline he was building. I get it tho - eyes up on combat, not action bars.

Anyone else have strange issues with custom keybind text on action bars? I wish I had gotten screenshots with HUD up but I didn't.

The normal 1-10 displayed below the action bars just fine but the custom keybind text was displaying above the action bar, over my adrenaline bar in straight up plain text, overlapping one another... it was quite odd.

I do like how they added range indicators beneath the abilities rather than like it was BWE3 with turning those small numbers red - hard to miss indication - these are dark bars that turn white below the skill when in range. They work with targeting/auto targeting.

Pretty sweet.

Tried out the ranger during the stress test. Very impressed with it. The diversity is amazing between the different weapons. At this point it's down to Engineer and Ranger, but I'm thinking Ranger now...

Female norn thief! Big ass burley thief Wooo... unless I can create a sylvari that I like.

Actually, female Norn Thief doesn't look bad at all. Norn females aren't super skinny like human females, but they aren't beefy like the Norn males either.

They just look like healthy females... who happen to be 9+ feet tall. But you don't really notice the size when you play as one. You just feel like a human thief, until you encounter a human, and they look like a baby.

The animation on this one must look ridiculous.

Engineer, spreading a lovely burning sensation from his crotch wherever he goes

OO, I actually have a question about engineer as well. the last trait in the alchemy line - immune to conditions under 25% health. Does that mean conditions will go away at 25% health or simply that I cant get any new ones tacked on to me? If its supposed to be the former, I dont think it was working right in the stress test

Can't decide whether I want Guild Wars 2 CE+24 inch monitor or Guild Wars 2 Regular+27 inch monitor. Not sure I REALLY want the figure and tin and such, but I'm not sure how much I NEED that 3 extra inches either...

The CE things don't really seem that significant, and are definitely overshadowed by the Hall of Monument goodies.

You could always use an extra 3 inches. Words to live by.

Ok,

I'm finally down to either Char or Sylvari and either Mesmer or Ele for my main.

I was going to go Norn first, but after trying again tonight, I find their starting area plain and the female norn voice .... uh.

It's not just 3". You're actually getting about 15 square inches more monitor. As someone who was in a similar situation... Trust me, you'll be happier with a bigger monitor than a plastic figureine.

I didn't notice many trait (if any) differences with Necro. I should have jumped on a guardian and checked them out real quick, oh well.

The Necromancer doesn't seem to get spoken about much, think it would be a good co-op companion to play with an Elementalist?

2 clothies, so quite squishy, but I guess it should be a good combo?

Speaking of the Mesmer, how are they now?

Shattering still seems useless in PvP (it's fine to finish off regular mobs in PvE though). I still love playing Mesmer in PvP with the Greatsword and at least Decoy on my bar - I feel powerful and the ultimate WvWvW troll with making folks fight my clones.

Like the others have said, this is a really easy choice. The stuff in the CE is mostly baubles that you will hardly pay much attention to a month from now.

Just make sure the quality of the monitor is at least as good as the one you have. Size is nice, but going 24" -> 27" will not be worth it at all if you get a monitor with significantly worse viewing angles or something.
