Also I've never met a gay guy who loves beer.
there are plenty of those.
i've met more of those across Europe and the US than those that prefer other sorts of alcohol.

IIT: people generalizing.
People like different things. Deal with it and stop judging.
I like musical. I am not obsessed with them, I don't know artists names or the lyrics of the songs, but I do enjoy a good musical every once in a while.
And some people wonder why they are alone or have no friends. Open mind and patience are philosophies. Learn and apply them.
How many of you are not interested in stuff like shopping (for clothes), musicals, karaoke and fashion? Just curious. If you're interested in any one of those things, you're out.
You're in! I mentioned the lyrics thing because that's often the reason why people love singing and karaoke as well.
Also I've never met a gay guy who loves beer.
Are there are any other LGBT libertarians here? I have a homosexual crush on Ron Paul.

I'm trying to think of a musical that's not over the top and I can't, but really, why would you want a musical that's not over the top. It doesn't entirely count, but Across the Universe is pretty grounded, and has some great covers.I'm lunch's mortal enemy
Musicals are so over the top, I can't stand them.

I don't have a problem with libertarians, just people who are physically attracted to Ron Paul. What's wrong with libertarians?

Me for example. I can drink gallons of beer, not something that I'd do every weekend though. It goes without saying it must be real stuff, the watered down piss you have in the USA is mostly disgusting.

Maybe because you add superfluous things like "you're out" to questions you're asking, as if you're trying to gauge out how shitty a person is based on what they like that you don't and trying to show us how much of a unique snowflake you are.I just asked a question, didn't complain about anything and this shit comes up as always. But just so you know, people have the right to dislike things. People don't have to like everyone and spend their time with people who are the complete opposite of them.
Yep. Speaking of Las Vegas and musicals, Evil Dead: The Musical opened here, and I'm so excited. I don't have the money for it, but I'll find a way to see it.I have no interest in getting into the history of the American musical drama or comedy over a comment you didn't really mean anything by, but I will say that the art form is just as diverse and open to subtlety as the modern ballet, opera, or the spoken drama. Of course, I also find nothing wrong with the occasional mindless extravaganza. It's why Las Vegas was built.
Good man. 8)Oh I saw that one, it was ok but maybe is my Beatles weakness, it was a nice movie.
It's just really jarring when you are in the middle of an emotional or important moment and the characters break into singing, I know that is precisely why they do it, I get it, but for me it has the opposite effect, I lose the emotional impact. I guess I'm more a fan of subtlety.
People don't have to like everyone and spend their time with people who are the complete opposite of them.
How much are tickets?Yep. Speaking of Las Vegas and musicals, Evil Dead: The Musical opened here, and I'm so excited. I don't have the money for it, but I'll find a way to see it.

Now you're about to think people like that are intolerant, but you'd be the one generalizing there. I don't like football and rock music yet I love having a drink with people who love those things. It's not about specific likes and dislikes, it's about a general mindset you share with other people.

$40, $60 if you want floor seats and wish to get splashed with blood. How much are tickets?
You have asked almost exactly the same question (or touched the same subject) several times (in this thread or previous gay threads).
People have the right to dislike things, agree. You don't have to like everyone, agree. You also can't expect to be liked by everyone.
Yet you are quick to jump to conclusions with people because they like certain things.
And I am not generalizing, I am going by your [previous and current] posts: "You like pop... OUT! You enjoy shopping for clothes... OUT (but books is totally OK)! You have some cliché traits... OUT!". Yeah, that doesn't say 'intolerance' at all (your word, not mine).

No it doesn't.

All the gay dudes I know love beer.

I can get that, but I'd chalk that up mostly to bad songwriting or directing. There are some musicals that handle dramatic moments (Spring Awakening's soundtrack is excellent) really well.
And this is why you're my favorite Vita GAF poster.Musicals I've enjoyed:
Wizard of Oz
Chicago
Moulin Rouge
Muppets
Across the Universe
Sweeney Todd
Mary Poppins
Rent
...
I'm sure there are more, but I'm not a huge Broadway/musicals fan.
...
So I don't know where you're getting this idea that gays don't like beer.
As to complete the list:
- I don't like shopping.
- I loathe musicals.
- I'm not following fashion, and I don't necessarily follow the latest trends, but I do have an opinion on clothes and a personal sense of style though. I have lots of clothes.
- I like pop music and I rarely notice lyrics at all, unless they're atrociously bad or exceptionally good. The music and melody of the lyrics are more important than the meaning of the words themselves.
I guess that last one is the obvious gay trait in me, therefore: IM OUT!
Its no good. I think most of us have tried to point these things out to him on many occasions... I'm starting to think he likes feeling isolated :\
And some people wonder why they are alone or have no friends. Open mind and patience are philosophies. Learn and apply them.
When you say "parties", what do you mean? Any occassion where there's a high concentration of people? Or certain events specifically?I'm trying to make new friends through Planetromeo and yes, I'm meeting people in real life but it's not really working out. Things start falling apart when I refuse to go to parties. I have no choice because I get extremely anxious at parties. All I really want to do is have a drink and talk. People must think I'm boring because that's all I want to do :/

Any event that involves dancing where you can't just sit and talk.
So I came home to the smell of burning metal. Apparently my dad broke his computer. He says that it was probably my fault because I wasn't taking care of it (I only use it for school). I checked and he placed the fan against the side of a wall. Clearly it overheated.
Afterwards he had used my netbook and dropped it apparently. It fell appart in pieces and I put it back together but it's not really fitting entirely well. With this I got pissed and told him not to break my things. This sort of led to an argument of him telling me that I never do anything with my life and that I don't have any plans for the future. He went on about the fact I'm having a year off school just because I had problems in my first year in university is my fault, even though he threatened to kick me out if I didn't go to it. He also told me that going to learn art is as irresponsible as going to learning music professionally.
I currently am learning vocals and recently piano at my local music store. He literally shat on all of my dreams and kept on rambling about it. After 10 minutes of this shit I stormed to my room. He doesn't even know I'm gay and he'd probably kick me out the moment he finds out. This also happened the moment I came back from a shift where a bunch of my coworkers found it fun to make fun of my stutter (I have social anxiety and was forced on till by them).
I hate myself and everything going on in my life...
All of my friends are gone and I have no one to talk to, so I'm sorry if this is a bit off topic. I just need to vent a little.
Is that because you don't like to (or can't) dance? Or is it because people talk less when they dance and you mainly like talking?
Are there are any other LGBT libertarians here? I have a homosexual crush on Ron Paul.

I'm normally pretty liberal with a few notable conservative traits (love guns, love castle law, hate Kelo v. New London), but over the past decade I've slowly become a real pessimist about humanity's fate. Gay rights progress is nice and all, but the triple-threat of unsustainable energy/environment/finance practices will render those issues insignificant. My hope for the federal govt to act adequately is incredibly slim, so my focus has turned to personal and local efforts to mitigate the feds' failures.
Not interested in clubs (haven't been in over a decade), and I have the fashion sense that's like Aunt Jackie's on Roseanne (jeans, long-sleeve polos). Haven't listened to new music since about 2000. But I do like the occasional musical; when I moved back home, my mom celebrated big-time that she has someone to go with her to "the shows." We go to a few a year, and The Producers remains my favorite by far. I don't drink much (beer or hard liquor are fine), but my partner is a beer snob after his time stationed in Germany.
And football is back on TV! Waaaaaaaah!!! I might not go out clubbing, but I'm more than happy to watch a Saints game at a bar. We usually end-up dancing around the bar at some points during the game anyway.![]()

Here is some musical musts:
Garbage (all time favorite band) - they just released their 5th album in May.
Imogen Heap/FrouFrou - great stuff, organic and ethereal.
Florence and the Machine - Big, theatrical and epically vivid.
The Gossip (Standing in the Way of Control --> current) - soulful, rump shaking and raw.
Ellie Goulding - electronic and catchy.
Other notable artists to check out:
Goldfrapp
Robyn
Alanis Morissette (Flavors of Entanglement is awesome)
Postal Service
Keane
Bloc Party
YeahYeahYeahs
I don't know...those are just some recommended listens, I loved music in the 90's, more than I have 2000 -> onward. I tend to like soothing, electronic rock/industrial trip hop stuff.....
I'd remove half of the artists you mentioned, but the others are great. Post Hopes and Fears Keane in particular is rather terrible. Here is some musical musts:

would totally do this old lady if his wife were guaranteed not to find out
Uh... I'm terribly confused.
Gaborn is a gay libertarian. Probably the most well known on Gaf.
Has he ever posted in a gay thread?
Oh wow. Ron Paul isn't a libertarian and I think you'll find most gay "libertarians" are simply republicans who support marriage equality or marijuana legalization if it applies to them.
