Fighting Games Weekly | August 6-12

To add to this, new stages, new animations, some new character designs, system changes, new HUD.

Removal of the guard primer system, addied a new guard break attack that cost 25% meter added that can be barrier blocked put in place of it.

as well as this which is pretty much xfactor unique for each character you have the choice of breaking out of a combo with a burst, or going into a powered up form that last longer the less life you have.

Would people be interested in a streamed P4A tourney for FGCGAF? I'm kind of interested in hosting one. I can't do a Day 1 tourney due to work, but if people wanna do some sets on Friday or Saturday, I'm down for hosting a lobby (most likely PS3 unless 360's online ends up being fine at launch)

If it's on 360, yeah, I'll be in there.

1. Are there any FGC podcasts worth listening to?
2. Whats the current state of Soul Calibur V? I've jumped back into it over the past few days and it seems like online is pretty dead. (US east coast)

All this talk about BBCP... that game isn't even gonna hit consoles for another year. Focus toward what's on the horizon... P4A and TTT2! :)

Pretty sure the only game he can play is Marvel. Nothing wrong with that though. Stirring up shit is immature though. Probably just doing it to get some spotlight on himself

He was a play tester for Skull Girls and he has said that he would pick it up after evo. Not sure if that disproves your statement though

P4A is looking pretty amazing right now. I like the burst system and the idea of manual crossups. Once more bursts becoming a part of combos also sounds very promising.
Don't knock him. Maybe if we all support him and give him funds to train he can reach their level.
Maybe I can translate the combos from number notations to regular Capcom motions for him too.

The situation Skullgirls is currently in makes me sad. The Valve model of updating and building a game is hard work if you don't have money and manpower. Almost makes me feel like Skullgirls should have been PC only for the first game.
I'm a little annoyed that the new BlazBlue has 3 new original characters instead of what I've been wanting, and it's only getting 3 new characters.
Keep in mind that they made Phantasma after making the new CS characters and the entirety of Persona. It's more painstaking stuff than working with 3D models. Those characters don't interest me in the slightest though. The changes(unique x-factors, turning supers into specials, cutting down on bursts) are sex which is what really matters to me. I'm sure we'll see character DLC down the road. Hopefully they just make their own AE instead of offering a patch and separate characters at exorbitant prices like they did with CS1.
 
The problem with Persona in the US is that the IP might as well not even exist. It's a well-made niche anime game that will get some traction, but it's never going to break out because it can't attract that casual players that SF/Marvel can to blow up the #s.

Same. All the systems I dislike are being replaced with ones that actually sound awesome. Really wish Burst would just go away, though. (I hate combo breakers)

Yep, I've never dashed so much in a game before. It's taking some toll on me but this stuff is nutty right now. Persona cancel dash (hold), jump, air turn, late air dash. The pressure in this game is nuts. And mini-hop mix ups on high/low? O_O

It's not on WNF or TRB so clearly it's dead.

Poor Lambda....
Apparently the arcade and console versions weren't always in sync. It wouldn't surprise me if the console versions included Nu in some shape or form. She was clearly alive and kicking when Relius found her in CS story mode. It's also very very possible that Noel can still turn into Mu somehow so we'll probably see her again. Lambda is gone though. I think she was the murakumo unit that Ragna absorbed into his Grimoire before he and the gang met the NOL's leader at the end of CS. Can't wait for the new BB. Kokonoe is gonna flip out about her absence in alternative endings for sure.

Edit: I can't remember which Murakumo unit is which outside of Mu-12 lol.
 
BB has the same problem the tekken community has, but for BB, it's way worse. Once the new game comes out no one plays the current home version of the game so it appears dead on the surface.

If ASW can you know, actually let the game live, and not kill it off, P4A actually has a chance of surviving for more than a year.

I still play SC5. I play really late at night though. Can be pretty dead alot of times. I resort going to the NYC rooms if the LA ones are empty.
