There is no feasible way to know how much will kill a person, it varies wildly from individual to individual and it's even more sensitive in children. Furthermore, some people are allergic to it, so they'd die pretty much without any chance.

It has nothing to do with Science - Even the smartest man on Earth couldn't have been sure. It was a calculated gamble, and showed Walt could give two shits about a child dying if it got in his way.

The justifications people give are almost more hilarious than the ones Christian-GAF give for Biblical contradictions at this point. So entertaining.

Uhhh... Anna Gunn isn't the only reason I watch the show, but she's definitely part of why I love it. Her tense conversation with Walt last night and her breakdown last week are among my favorite moments in the series. Also, I'm not sure how to even interpret the bolded bit. Do you just dislike female characters in general or something?

- Poisoned a kid To save his life and the life of three others, as long as we're using the age argument, one of the people he saved was a two month old girl
- Planted a bomb in an old folks home Only big enough blast radius to harm the intended target
- Is emotionally abusive to his wife Season 5 has been mainly his own obviousness and prior to that he was abusive while trying to do right by them the same can't be said for Skylar, Walt was still trying even very recently. They've both been abusive to one another.
- Puts his family's life at risk on a consistent basis In the recent example with Gus Fring, he made them go to Hanks and refused to go with them specifically because he would put them in danger, remember when he talked about consequences? Whenever it seemed like he was in danger he always has tried to keep his family out of it.

Walt is a bad guy now obviously but I'll play devils advocate for fun:

1. Killing within certain context isn't always bad. I know there's a difference between killing and murder but as of yet Walt hasn't killed someone just for the sake of it the way Gus did with Victor. (Or maybe he has and I've just forgotten I'm not sure)
2. I don't remember what the context was here but I recall him looking out for Jesse's best interest at the time. After all batman doesn't kill anyone but he does let people die sometimes.
3. If you're talking about Jesse killing Gale it was a necessary tactical move for self preservation of both Walt and Jesse and their families.
4. I think it's insinuated that Walt gave just enough so he knew the kid wouldn't die. Again grossly immoral obviously since you can't make a kid suffer but still done out of tactical necessity rather than absolute evil for the sake of it. And there can be a thin argument that inflicting temporary suffering on someone in order to prevent permanent suffering/deaths in the future may be justifiable.
5. The explosion only affected that room. It's possible there could've been killed/hurt bystanders if they entered the room but that's the risk you take. Gus being taken out was absolutely necessary for Walt to win.
6. Emotionally abusive to wife lol this is stretching it. They're both abusive towards each other. Every relationship on the planet has emotional abuse at some point.
7. He doesn't purposefully put them at risk, it's a bi-product of the circumstances. Walt could and should have absolutely quit the game when he could and move on but he didn't so now he has to make decisions moving forward based on that reality.

I think people should look at Walt vs. Gus as a civil war and they're both military commanders. The war in this case obviously doesn't have any high brow well spirited goals at the end of it but they're in one anyway. Once you consider that perspective you know there are certain evil's that become necessary for the sake of winning. Because this is fiction it's a lot easier to have fun defending these guys though. Obviously nobody would defend people in drug wars in real life unless you were as crazy/greedy as they are.

Never posted in this thread, but just wanted to air some thoughts on the new season. I'll spoiler tag it just for safety.

I have a growing dislike of Skyler, and Walt's son. I've been thinking it since season 4 that she would pull a Lady Macbeth.

I like how they've switched Walt and Jesse's motives. The psuedo Father-Son relationship they have seems to have straighted Jesse out, I hope things turn out for the better with him.
