Intro decks from the core set are always one color where as intro decks from other sets are usually 2 colors.
That's not entirely accurate. A lot of the intro decks from 2013 are splashed with another color.

Regardless, you can always find the decklists for pretty much any set just with a simple Google search. Event decks tend to be more competitive than Intro Decks, but also cost a bit more. Event decks go for $25 bucks, Intro Packs $15. Also, keep in mind that with the Intro pack you also get 2 booster packs included, whereas with the Event decks you don't.

M13 Intro Packs

M13 Event Decks

If you're looking to get back into the game, the biggest rules changes since you've last played are probably the 2010 rules changes and the addition of Planeswalkers (a new card type).

Other than those two things, the game hasn't changed much from a rules standpoint. These days creatures are generally a lot more powerful than they were back in the old days.

Ah, never looked at M13 to see if they were. I know classically they were one of the five colors and that's it.

Oh, thanks to the guys who responded about my deck. Only thing I wanted to say was about using Gather in the 2cmc slot:

I've used Gather before, but ultimately I removed it, for two main reasons:

1. I've learned more and more that this deck performs far better when every single turn I am playing a new threat. Gather doesn't do that, it just augments my existing threats. It makes my Champions far stronger, but so do other drops. I really want every turn to be playing a new threat. Since everything's a human, those'll make my Champions bigger too, but for just one counter instead of two.

2. Doesn't work well with Descendants' Path. Not a huge deal, since my sideboard isn't all humans either, but it's preferable.

I wish the new lili was cheaper... I really want to build my mono black control. I sort of get the feeling that she'll stay the same price or go up once ravnica comes around but she's still $20. :/

Edit: LOL Tibalt is down to under $5, wow. I'm so surprised...

Seems like he could be pretty sick in B/G since his activated ability doesn't require him to tap

ZOMBIE ELF NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME WANDERINGWIND???? FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUU

It's my like favorite and least favorite things in one card. Wandering Wind is probably jerking off like crazy though. :P

Edit: HOLY FUCK I AM THE MOST RETARDED PERSON EVER. I have always been making scars lands come in tapped on turn 3... I don't even think anyone at my shop does it correctly either. I want to weep, I want to weep really bad that I just figured this out.

You know what else you're wrong about? Zombies. :)

Man his mana-cost sucks. So strict.

Like the rest of the design though, plays well with Dredge. Wish the last ability was to return him to the battlefield though.

Is there a plan for when they are announcing the contents of that duel deck? Might make it my last paper Magic purchase for a year as I'm going back to Uni soon.
Niv-Izzet is my kind of win con.

Okay, so threw Jarad proxy into my G/B post rotation deck I've been working on.

He is fucking AWESOME. His third ability is irrelevant. But paired with the zombie twins, blood artist rancor and nighthawk, his other abilities are perfect synergy.

Niv...I can see him working in some decks, but that's pretty damn expensive casting him.

Niv will be different in RTR we're pretty sure, the version posted above is his old body from OG Ravnica

Ah. That makes sense.

Doesn't matter. I'll be stomping fools, coming back from the graveyard, sac'ing bitches and dealing direct damage all over the place in black.

Going to be a great set, I can feel it!

EDIT: http://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/xv3mw/jarad_golgari_lich_lord_spoiled_in_todays_arcana/

AHA! I get to be the hipster who was into B/G zombies before it was cool! I have gained a level!

All the guilds are getting new leader cards. Wizards doesn't want to give away two upcoming mythics foiled from the new set in a Duel Deck. Surprised we got one actually.

Obviously this means Jarad is the least exciting of all the new leader cards!

I wonder if there is any chance that the Guild-related promo card at the prerelease will be the guild leader.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the CC guild showcase (which, in Ravnica was sometimes the guild leader and sometimes a champion of some kind)

I'm gonna make a Zombie Birthing Pod deck just to prove you wrong

Actually kind of surprised this isn't already a thing... does it just suck?

It does suck! That's what started this whole thing yesterday! Frank Lepore made a deck tech on it so I watched it because I love birthing pod and it was the only time I was bored to tears watching birthing pod. :/

This was from yesterday:

Edit: I can't believe how boring zombies are. I'm watching a deck tech on zombie pod since I love pod and it's still boring to watch. :/ I've never been so bored by a creature type.

Edit: This is the link if you want to put yourself to sleep. :/

Is everyone overlooking the fact that Jarad's Sac ability is amazing? Especially in green decks where everyone is a fatty with Rancor on them?

Not to mention strangleroot/geralf being prime targets for that ability. If you sac geralf twice you get a total of 11 points (!!!) of damage. Add in rancor on each body and you get 15.

Also, gravecrawlers are basically shocks.

Oh, and Thragtusk too. 5 life, 5 damage, and a 3/3 body. Not bad.

It might be a bit difficult to pull off due to the real restrictive mana costs, but I'm sure the rav. duals will mitigate that. Standard playable? That depends on the rest of the set.

I pretty much play this deck. What makes this so boring compared to other pod decks? I don't understand.

And zombie pod "sucking" is me taking 1st many a time at my FNM with this deck, and it dominating MTGO standard dailies for a while and placing in top 4s in various events I guess.

Yeah, i played a zombie pod deck that worked really well

It didnt help in both games he started with a mortarpod and a birthing pod with grave crawlers

My deck runs 2 mortar pods. Those things are all-stars when Blood Artists are around.

I don't get what's boring about sac outlets that provide life gain and burn. That's a pretty legitimate (and proven) strategy.

You wanna talk about a boring deck? Mono green mega mana elves. Turn 4 oh lookie I untap my archdruids and i get infinite mana lolol lemme take 15 more minutes for my turn oh lol look i have 20 creatures on board you lose.

He could make a pretty sick addition to graveyard decks with Innistrad stuff. How about dropping a ghoultree for 1 mana and saccing it for 10 to the dome.

GHOULTREE LOL. How about Splinterfright too? Shieeeeet. Mulch, splinterfright, ghoultree, jarad. Spider spawning in there too just for kicks

But that's exactly how you determine if it's a shitty deck. Hey! Wait a minute...

I don't know, it's just not fun. With normal pod you have so many different abilities you're using to make plans with, there's so many things to chain together to get yourself out of a situation. I've seen so many interesting moves of using different ETB abilities to get yourself out of a situation where with zombie it just feels like derb kill the thing with undying to make it stronger and get another creature. There's much less interaction than the vast majority of other pod decks. I'm not saying they aren't strong decks (just like delver) but I still don't enjoy either.

When you said zombie pod, I thought you mean Mortarpod haha

Ah, haha. They use mortarpod too usually but birthing pod is obviously better. :P
