SAW
DESIGNATION: M739 Light Machine Gun
MANUFACTURER: Misriah Armory
MAGAZINE CAPACITY: 72 rounds

Squad automatic weapon used in protracted engagements where sustained or suppressive fire is required.

How it feels:

Frank - I LOVE the way it sounds and feels, but my mistake was approaching it as some kind of mega-powerful AR. It’s not. I still haven’t mastered when to use it, but have had good experience using it to finish players as I close on them, but the speed at which it goes through a clip means you have to make every shot count.

David - The SAW is, without a doubt, the most psychologically intimidating GUN in the game. It looks unlike any gun you’ve seen before in a Halo game, and packs a world champion-class punch when spraying molten projectiles at everything in your way. The SAW is also incredibly useful as a force modifier when encountering a vehicle on foot. A skilled SAW user will use every tool at his disposal to clear space while shredding surrounding vehicles. The comparison to the AR is apt, but whereas a skilled AR user (yes, they do exist) will use finesse to drop a foe, the SAW almost demands of you to unleash its fury by burning down enemies with overwhelming force. As Frank said, though, you do want to keep an eye out on the ammo count as before you know it you’ll be hearing that familiar “click, click, click” or impending death.

Chris - We are still dialing in the final range on this one so I think some of Frank’s opinions will change here. I absolutely love the “fireworks” show it puts on though when it fires a barrage of tracers at an unsuspecting opponent. This is one of the fastest firing fully auto guns in the game and fires faster than some of the mounted/vehicle machine guns even to put it into perspective. It features a slight bit of recoil and a lot of spread but makes up for it with sheer brute force and an enormous drum barrel magazine. This is definitely one of my favorite new weapons in the game.

Chris H. – This is my favorite weapon. It’s like the AR’s mean older brother, or a more mobile turret emplacement.

doesn't interest me at all. weird since i was always excited with halo in the past with halo 2 and 3. this just doesn't seem like halo.

Weapon in the OP looks more like shotgun. Still like it though.

Also come on 343, you know that's not how you do music for a Halo trailer. Doing something new is fine, but not dubstep.

Oh god that shotgun looks sexy as fuck.

Has there been an iteration of Halo where the shotgun wasn't as sexy as fuck? I don't think so.

Also, have they stated if this list of UNSC weapons is complete or not?

I WANT IT FUCKING NOW!!!!!!!

Best shotgun in a Halo game confirmed

Ehh, it looks like an over designed/nonsense "futuristic" weapon to me.

A few things:

-Am I stupid, or am I not seeing the Bulletin in the link in the OP? It takes me to Waypoint (which I hate the layout of and never go to) but I'm not seeing it anywhere on the first page of articles? I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE OP

-I have no problem with wubwub, but this feel hilariously out of place for Halo. It doesn't bother me and I guess I could see people who aren't big Halo fans digging it, but I also see it upsetting dedicated fans, maybe?

-Slightly off-topic, but does anyone know where one can easily and in one place find out everything we know about Halo 4 at this point, in particular competitive multiplayer (War Games IIRC?). A bunch of people at work today who are "casuals" were talking to me today about the Blops 2 multiplayer trailer, and asking me what is up with Halo 4, and I realized that I actually have no idea what's up with Halo 4. Either they still haven't shown very much of it, or if they have their messaging is very, very off. Do we still not have details at this point?

Videos removed? Maybe they realized their trailer could stand out more by being the one that DOESN'T have dubstep in it...though they removed that version too.

Hnnnnnng. I didn't like Reach. I'm praying to Based God that I will enjoy this. I miss my 4 shot.

Oh wait. I heard its 5 now.

RAAAAAGE.

Looks fucking amazing. Blown away by the visuals in this game.

Sounds effects are great too.

I'll ignore the dubstep trailer for now.

Railgun looks and sounds like a beast. Finally getting full on hype for Halo 4's MP. I'm not sold on everything they're doing just yet, but I'll be damned if I'm not excited as hell to try it.

Some of the guns sound really weak to me, specifically the BR, Magnum, and Shotgun. Probably the sound mix for that trailer. AR, SAW, Rocket, and especially the Railgun all sound fucking amazing though.

Looks amazing.

BTW that wubwub is not in the soundtrack, confirmed by the bulletin. Also there's a video without the music for those that dislike it.

I got the giant gif post, no need to repost any.

And yes, I realize that the railgun one was posted before mine, but my post has all of em!

The rail gun didn't look all that great either. Basically a small spartan laser. I dislike charge based weapons. (Based on the GIf above it doesn't even shoot a projectile of any kind...)

I miss Marty music :/

...

The SAW looks great though, but it actually reminds me of the Covenant Splaser. Its sound is intimidating, and you really need to keep pouring it on to your enemy to get a kill, but it'll take down weakened enemies quickly. Anything approaching LMG levels of automatic fire is something I'll spend plenty of quality time with.

The charge is much shorter than a Spartan Laser and it's basically a god damn force push.

Looks awesome.

Thankfully that song isn't a part of the official soundtrack otherwise I'd be very upset.

It's no quake railgun, that's for sure
