I had a play of the character creator at the tail-end of the final beta, missed the previous stress test, was looking to mess about tonight, but it seems I've got myself stuck on Lakeside County when I'd rather be on Gandara if that's going to be EuroGAF's server of choice.

Apparently beta-ers are supposed to have free gems to pay for one server switch but I don't have any. Emailed support about that.

Question for anyone here is...if I go ahead with the stress test on the server currently selected, is that me locked in and needing to pay for a switch when the game launches proper? Searched GW2 and two GW 2 forums, couldn't find anything definitive. Thanks!

At release everything but gems is reseted. So you will have to choose a new server.

weird.. my game says renderer : dx9 but high res chars option is checked as on.
But as always, i have to trim the shadows and post processing for 30-40 fps

How much is your budget? if you can go for a 560ti it would be better, as SE is the low end of the 560 series.

The problem is my motherboard (EVGA 113-M2-E113 AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 730a HDMI ATX AMD ). It doesn't support anything higher than the 560SE, as far as I know.

But either way, $300 for a video card, no. Not a chance. At most, $200.

All I really want is something better than the HD 5750, without having to upgrade my MB to do it. 99% of my games run fine, it's GW2 I'm worried about.

Dunno if they did something but my fps have improved. 60fps steady in Brisban Wildlands.

Your motherboard support PCI-E so it will support any modern GPU. If you can push for a 560ti in the range of 199 ~ 220/230 i would recommend it, but if you can't, go for a 560 that have a range of 150 - 180 (looking at Newegg).

Is it worth hanging onto salvage items like shredded rag, bits of metal scrap, strands of lush kelp, etc? Or would the items salvaged from it not be worth it?

Working perfectly now...I have decided on a Sylvari Mesmer as my main...even though I got destroyed in the My Story part,like always...if it says the instance is level 9,don't go in there at level 8 hehe...these My Story instances really need some tuning but I guess it's too late for that...loving the game though just the same(didn't try any PvP yet,waiting for release to try that with my guild).

I was wondering, the Ranger has lots of melee attacks that make you evade. Does this combo with his trait Companion's Defense, which gives you Protection every time you dodge roll?

You should always carry a salvage kit with you, so that you can salvage these items, as well as any gear you don't want to keep around or sell to a vendor. Never leave town without a salvage kit (edit - or two).

That's not the same at all. Screenshots are still there, but not high res ones. The high res screenshot option made screenshots at 7680x4800 (on my monitor with 1920x1200 -- so 4x each axis?) and removed the UI.

Salvage kits are cheap and have multiple uses. Yes they are worth it.
