Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

Man alive, I feel like the mini market ballooned to high hell just overnight. I'm 5 common minis +1 unique mini away from hitting my HoM goal of 20 and not sure I have the cash now...

Guild tax? Is that a system where the guild automatically taxes its members at a set rate and those funds go into the guild bank?

I hoped there'd be extra stress tests because of the first hour of the last one being a trainwreck.

Think ill try out a THF again. Still very iffy on my 3rd character being a guardian, warrior or THF and havent played a whole lot with the THF yet

Does anyone else notice some input lag with GW2? it seems button presses, particularly when using wasd and q/e to strafe, feel a little sluggish.

This is what a ArenaNet guy said about it:

I'm happy that now the game runs at 60fps * -* They have done a good job.

I put together a video you guys might want to see:

I had such a great time in WvW tonight.

goddam, that was a long duel.

i noticed movement had a sluggish feeling but just thought it was designed that way. it was my first time playing so i can't compare it to earlier builds.

My first chance at playing it this morning, 4am for me. Enjoyed it, performance was bit hit and miss for me, possibly bad scaling on my CF 5870's.

quick question guys. if i pre purchase from amazon right now, will i be able to download everything and participate in the stress test tomorrow? how exactly does this work? do i get to download from amazon or do they send me a code to download off of arenanet's site?

Really irritated I still can't choose high-res textures. I can play with high-res character textures(only if I let it default my settings in the options and then max them out from there), but still only medium textures for everything else.

Reading up on this, it's locked to 64-bit OS apparently. This will most definitely NOT be the case for retail, right? It's very boggling to be able to run this game at over 60 fps with everything maxed, and have this locked out for no reason at all.

Anet totally killed my necromancer condition build by nerfing sigil of superior earth, it now has a cool down. =(

Maybe it's limiting you based on not having enough VRAM?

I didn't get a chance to play the stress test today - is the UI scaling fixed yet? That's a big deal for a 1440p monitor guy like me that I'm surprised hasn't been fixed yet.

You could download the client right now if you wanted to even without an account. Amazon sends out a code with your order to get access to the head start. Some people report not getting these codes though, so buyer beware.

At this point, there's not much reason to join in the very short tests. You'll be better off waiting the two weeks for the retail release.

I feel sorry for that poor guy playing necro. He was obviously just getting used to the class judging by how badly you stomped him and how he was using Scepter/Axe. I will say you have mad tailing skills. I can't believe the number of times you got hit with cc and kept on top of him.

The double stress test is great. I just can't say no to more GW2. I think this time around I'm going to screw around with tailoring instead of wandering around grabbing vistas.

If you try it and get a code, let us know. Friend of mine is interested somewhat too.

no code yet, but amazon says they'll send the code sometime before the 25th for the head start. i just purchased from amazon and registered the key that gave me on arenanet. after creating my account and logging in i was able to download the set up.

In the land of WvW, the unprepared Necro picked a bone with the wrong server
even though I was the one invading her server

I'm more confident in this game the more and more they do stress tests - I'm thinking that this is ANet's way to try to make sure that everything goes as smoothly as possible for launch.

Some other Engineer changes I haven't seen mentioned yet:

Racial utility skills now give a Fkey ability, which seems to be a default ability. Previously, equipping the sylvari root racial would leave a blank toolkit spell on your fkeys. It now gives Gear Shield, a 2 second block skill. Also, the sylvari root was nerfed to single target.

I am not sure if this is new or not, but Mangetic Inversion is now a blast finisher.

Mesmer had some CDs and number tweaks, but none of the mechanic changes that it direly needs. I didn't notice MindStab hitting multiple targets, though that was claimed to be a change. I'll test it more tomorrow, I suppose. Really disappointed by the lack of progress on Mesmer. Mind Wrack and GS laser beam both feel weaker. Even fully traited, mind wrack's damage was in the 600 range per illusion. They've gone form like 3k damage per in BWE1 to not even 3k damage from all three illusions.

Also, I was getting 50-60 fps on a 5770. It dropped to 35fps in Lions Arch when they kicked everyone out of WvWvW. That was the lowest I saw. I believe my setting were High for textures, High for animations, High for post-processing, High on shaders, with medium shadows, and terrain & sky reflections. Didn't test with supersampling.

I'm on Henge, and it still struggles in WvWvW, but my time there was still fun. We were getting sandwiched at our first keep from both sides in Eternal Battlegrounds. My support Engineer setup felt highly effective. I was running Pistol/Shield, with Med Kit, Grenade Kit, Elixir S or B, and Elixir Gun. I had the bomb on dodge trait and larger explosion radius trait. Elixir Gun skills, dropping heal packs and throwing elixirs gave our side a lot more survival. I was able to routinely cycle through all of these. I also used throw shield to daze multiple enemies, and the Elixir 2 skill to slow foes and speed up allies. It was a real jack of all trades build. Good at assaulting keeps, defending keeps, supporting allies and even provided some burst.

Nope, I'm playing on a single 1080p monitor with a gtx670 and it's not getting close to cap when I monitor it. A quick google shows it's because I'm on a 32-bit OS. :( Better change this crap by release.

I had the same problem in a different game (GTA4), but it was steam and I was able to fix it with setting the startup parameters in steam differently...

maybe sth like this will work for GW2 as well??? Worth giving it a try! It works for the non-steam version of GTA4, so might work for GW2 as well:

Create a shortcut on your desktop to the LaunchGTAIV.exe - by default this will be in C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV
Right click the shortcut and click Properties
Make sure the Shortcut tab is selected. You should see a field called "Target", edit this to say the following, making sure the path is correct, I'm just using the default here:
Quote
"C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\LaunchGTAIV.exe" -norestrictions -nomemrestrict
That includes the quote marks and the options coming after the link to the path
Click Apply
Double click the shortcut to launch the game.

Yeah these were in the last stress test. Magnetic Inversion I think has always been a blast finisher but it hasn't worked for a while.

Also, fuck yeah more GW2 tomorrow. Will probably do something with a human, maybe Guardian or Necromancer.
