I'm considering doing an Asuran thief or necro this stress test just to playtest all the "most troubled" classes.

But I also need to test out more Mesmer thingies. Apparently, illusions you send to shatter aren't replaced by new illusions you create while they run to shatter. Someone tested this out on the underwater golems in the Mists that shatters bug out on before they destroy themselves. They had like 12 illusions up.

Maybe I will try making a Mesmer tonight.............. I've done a really good job so far avoiding spoiling myself on anything and I've tried all the classes I have no real interest in, and we're getting pretty close to release..........

NO way that's intentional...

The illusion/shatter behavior is intentional. Illusions bugging out underwater isn't though. Magically combined you get to be a mesmer as cool as the ones in the personal story line.

Is there a beta event tonight or something?

To stay awake or not.. it's already 1am here and the test is still 1 hour away, but I fitted a new video card today, and I'm curious to find out about the performance :p

Good to know. Getting it updated. Hopefully performance is better than it was in Beta Weekend 1.

I didn't try the game for myself until the stress test the week prior to yesterday's and my PC did much better than I was expecting. It must have improved some great deal because my setup is pretty moderate by today's standards (i5-750, 5850 and 8GB).

LISTEN to this.

For truth. No, please listen. It's not the "explore, it's fun and gives XP" lie of most MMOs. This is actually the truth. Slow down, enjoy the game, and you'll overlevel everything without noticing. Hell, don't even look at your level; I know I don't.

I know at this point it's been repeated so often that those not convinced yet will still think, somehow, that ArenaNet has brainwashed us into saying all this and outright lying about or leveling experience. But I still have to try.

Underwater illusions are always been quite bugged. In BWE1, they did nothing. They literally stood there doing nothing, and you couldn't make them attack anything.

Can I try the stress test from Europe? I've bought the game and have it installed but missed out on all betas so far. Would love to try it out.

Should be no problem at all; many of us are from Europe as well. Only thing is, the 1AM-5AM schedule (in Spain at least) is not very sleep-friendly :). You should have really gotten in yesterday's stress test.

I thought you knew about the "shattered" illusions immediately not counting towards your illusion total. It's one of the reasons shatters got nerfed so hard after BWE1.

Leaning towards a mini ranger, whatever the small guys are. Norn is my favorite starting area so far, are there any others that are pretty good to start in?

I've seen most sites thinking Mesmer is the least 'powerful' class, are they all generally equal or would one be more suitable for pvp/pve?

Id never choose a class on whether its most or least powerful since that can change very quickly. Just pick one that you enjoy

Well, doesnt really matter for sPvP since you can play the flavor of the month all you want

One thing I like about this game is you can easily go to any other starting area at the begininng of the game right after your first quest. Going to check out the sylvari I think, or maybe have my big norn ass towering over asura.

Also, I honestly dont think I could play another MMO that doesnt have a fast travel feature. Walking around for hours or even riding on a mount would just feel ANCIENT

Yeah, I like that part since I can do the starter zones until I get to 15.

So why is Guardian supposed to be like that Vergil dude? (sorry, never been really interested in DMC stuff, or played him in any other game)

I have had a change of heart regarding the Personal Story;

I still think that the instanced dungeons and instanced story sequences are anti-productive in terms of what a MMO should be about. I'm all about the Dynamic Events because the meaning world open world play is what I haven't seen (amazingly:( ) in this genre since SWG. Almost ten years of dryspell single player fed ex quests.

They did some touches up on the story sequences (for the human at least - street rat - sisters dead body - grenth worship - the cut scenes ran smoother and the npcs had better arm placements. its like their body language was put into sync.

Also, I think I quite like the very bright and heroric tone of GW2. We've had so many dark mature bioware lol storytelling games that it has become a cliche of itself. Somehow I actually am not liking the bright tone and adventure feel. That's how I would describe it. The personal story I played through yesterday gave me the tinglies like I was watching a classic Indiana Jones film. It's not that it's great storytelling but I feel this good intended well meaning exposition and it somehow comes through the pixels. Thus I am impressed. They have achieved (from what I've seen) to make me care about the story half as much as TOR, but they have probably used 90% less resources, time and production values compared to Bioware and I think that's a resounding achievement. I hope the later games keeps the good intent. This is not so bad at all. after all.

I had the same problem in a different game (GTA4), but it was steam and I was able to fix it with setting the startup parameters in steam differently...

maybe sth like this will work for GW2 as well??? Worth giving it a try! It works for the non-steam version of GTA4, so might work for GW2 as well:

Just coming back to say this did NOT work :/. Thanks again for trying to help though.

Like I said, they need to unlock high res textures for 32-bit OS for retail. Really disappointed about this.
