Counter-Strike: Global Offensive official site is live (kinda), beta starting today

The newest update is decent. For some reason I feel like I can see better but I still have trouble telling the players apart. The new radio voices are better than the old default ones but they will be missed. Odd that they decided to keep a few of them. I still don't like that buying circle. Every server I have been in so far gives you no time to buy anything. Must be a beta thing.

As for TF2 I liked it until they screwed it all up during that free weekend with random drops. I liked earning the weapons through achievements. Since then I uninstalled the game.

LOVE the new voices, factions, bug fixes, movement changes, etc. It's almost there.

My guess is we'll get one more patch before release, and then whee!

I couldn't hit shit with the awp tonight...not sure if it was me or something else.

I honestly can't tell yet. AK and AWP are far more difficult to use while movement has been improved. I'm confused about the larger servers (10v10 CS is not enjoyable to me). I'm having a tough time adjusting.

Nooooo! But before I panic.. AWP and deagle were the only weapons for me up till now that controlled perfectly. Sniping is so much fun without the zoom delay introduced in 1.6.

Do you see the larger servers only in the server browser?

Problems of the current generation, mouse sluggishness due to Vsync. Triple Buffering helps but it's still very mushy.

Unlocked and it's just pumping FPS out at a million miles an hour, making components work unnecessarily.

Oh and tearing, which will also happen with a pure FPS limit.

Dammit.

I haven't gotten an invite into the GO beta, but other games in the Source engine allow you to set a max FPS with the console command fps_max; so you can have vsync off but still cap the framerate to whatever you want. Tearing is still a thing, but I've never been one to use vsync so it's not something I care about. :P

fps_max 121?

Tried the in-game limiter and it's much better, fps_max at 60, no Vsync and it's butter smooth. Game feels so great right now, really having fun.

fps_max 121?

What would I do with such a high number

Im loving the movement now, makes me feel very agile. Not sure why anyone would avoid GO, Party mode alone is a great incentive, no more IRC lol.

How do you make Source save settings? Whenever I start, it defaults to fps_max 300

EDIT: Guess I'll just do a good ole' Autoexec.

Is Hidden Path still developing this or did Valve bring it in house?
Both developed it, though it sounds like it shifted more towards Valve near the end.

cs_office terrorists now have female bodies and clothing but the bot voice is still male.. wut :(

Wait what.

I'll dig through model viewer and check this out.

To be honest I didn't check them out thoroughly, at a glance in the couple of rounds I played they looked like women, but maybe they were tight-pants/high-boots wearing male hipsters with big butts.

edit-

will they ever smooth out the abrupt movement when going up or down stairs/steps?? It looks terrible in both first and third person. I'm really digging the look of the game otherwise.

Do you seriously think you can compare TF 1/2 with CS 1.6? Where is TF2's competitive scene? Where is TF1's? Who cares if the game has hardcore players, we're talking about game mechanics and balance, both of which made CS what it was. If you're telling me CS would be a better game with stats on guns simply because more people would play it, and you'd consider that a "success" you completely miss the point. TF1s competitive scene was pretty much dead by the time tf2 came around, and TF2's didn't last so long.

I was a part of TF2's competitive scene, albeit at a low level, for a couple of years. It certainly exists and it might not be as large as other games but it's there and as vibrant as ever.

There's also the Highlander TF2 competitive scene as well, which I don't know too much about, but it also exists. The best players generally play in 6v6 TF2 though.

Urgh, I hate all the people who insist that "change can't be good" in a competitive game, because it almost certainly can. They're not willing at all to adapt, which is sad, because the same thing has happened to TF2 - people too scared to play new maps or use any unlocks at all.

The Anarchist models are definitely male (though they concepted female models at once point.)

Procedural Animation that is improved would mess with game's core mechanics.

Valve really went all out with the voices for CSGO:

Just for information the accents are authentic, not an american trying to portray someone from another country. The talent we used was local for whatever character he represented. I.e. the SEAL is from the USA, the SAS is actually from the UK, the Basque is from Spain, the GSG9 is from Germany, the IDF is an Israeli and former member of the IDF etc. etc. Was this way for all the characters. We didn't want to cheat things in this area.

I'm loving the hell out of the voice acting. The SAS' is the best.

Anyone interested to know some details of the console version? Been playing the X360 version for the last few days.

I should get around to somehow trying this out, I like CS and I enjoyed source too, all those years ago.

This is still in invite beta right?

yeah, does it feel like the real experiance or like a watered down console remake on a budget?

I used to own CS on the xbox and while it was fun it somehow felt off compared to the pc versions.

Currently, yes, but those who pre-order (or have pre-ordered) will gain beta access come the 14th.

Just played a couple rounds with bots to try out the new patch and I gotta say, the guns feel great. I'm pleased to see the lobbies finally added too.

Good update, but it makes me a little sad to see they've added a dust only map group and changed the scoreboard to show more than 5 players. The slow downward slide to $16,000, 64 player, 24/7 dust/office begins.

Is the framerate stable?
Also, any feature missing?

Seems stable, runs at 30 frames judging by the few videos I've recorded. Sadly though I've only managed to play with 3-3 using bots so I don't if it stays stable with 5-5 but I imagine it would. Only thing I've noticed that's missing is voice commands and can't see them in the controls menu yet bots do give commands or info on the enemies. You can also map buttons for specific use such as flash bangs, decoys and so on.

It feels just like the PC version, only difference is obviously the controller but after a few matches I felt very comfortable with it. It has a 180 degree button for quick rotation which was also in Left 4 Dead but I found myself just cranking up the sensitivity higher.

Features the same settings/options such as color mode (Monitor/TV), play distance (Desktop/Couch), cross hair styles and behaviors. Game modes are the same along with the maps. I did notice a mode called Weapon Course which I imagine is some sort of tutorial for new players. Not sure if this is on the latest beta PC version since I haven't played since March.

The bots aren't too bad to be honest. I've been playing on medium and hard difficulty and had a fun time. Not tried Expert yet.

I do have 4 videos from Office, Aztec, Nuke and Dust uploaded but I'm not sure how it stands with publishing them since I've not seen any consonle footage apart from game expo's yet we have thousands of videos from the PC version.

With Warcraft 3 mod, rope/grappling hooks, boom headshot sounds and custom skins.

12? CS:GO has 170 achievements. Or is that just a sampling?

The award and achievement systems, while functionally identical (i.e. earning an award nets you the equivalent achievement), exist individually. It appears that while the PS360 versions will have all of the in-game awards, only some will be tied to achievements/trophies.
That's really weird, but ok.

im so angry right now.

"get out of there its going to blow" seems to have been removed.

why

There are new lines for the characters (might just be bots?) to yell "Run!" when the bomb is about to go off, but if you mean a voice command, yeah I think that's gone.

After getting the game tweaked, actually getting around the Vsync / Triple Buffer sluggishness, getting my toggle walk working and really getting into the game I can officially say; I love it. I'm actually getting those old tingles daily where I need to boot up the game and have a few rounds, it's amazing.

The weapon sounds are much improved, the feeling of firing them is actually pretty good, the separation of competitive and casual is great, I like the redone maps, the weapon handling overall is good with a few exceptions ( Heavy MGs are atrocious ) and overall I just love the feel. Sure it's not 1.6 / CZ in many aspects but it's close enough for me, some aspects are even better.

Only 'problem' I've encountered is actually finding a decent server ... So few in this closed stage, shitty pings, server list "full of" casual / non-specified ( secretly casual ) servers.

Can't wait to get cracking with my friends.

Soooo is this game better than Source guys? I was hoping it would have the normal 5v5(?) considering I never played a CS game until Source a couple weeks ago. And it's fun.. But the only servers I can find are 60 man lobbies of TD. NOT FUN AT ALL. I'm assuming this new one will feature the vanilla settings more often correct?
