Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

I love the guns in GW2, but I'm unsure of going an engineer due to the fact that you are restricted to guns ONLY.

That's why it's a toss up between thief and engineer for me.

The ranger is an option as well, but the guns are more fun than a bow IMO.

The best part about being an Engineer is that you have a ton of awesome, unique toolkits you can bust out. For example, my Charr Engineer looks like a total badass with a flamethrower strapped to his back;

By the way, sorry I haven't been on much this weekend, my brother was in town.

You could also go Rifle Warrior.

No jesus christ don't link Yogscast they're HORRIBLE at gaming and generally spread misinformation because they don't do any research before they play games nor do they quickly grasp concepts.

Unrenowned just read this first:

Then come back for videos.
That was a meaty thread!

One question before I start with the videos; can you respec your choice of trait lines or are they permanent for that character?

You can respec the lines and get your points back by paying gold. You can change out any of the major trait slots you unlocked on the fly without needing to pay gold.

The wait is killing me.

May be sad to some people, but I don't give a damn.....

I seriously can't wait for the whole week of vacation I took off of work for release. Even better that the following Monday is a holiday in the US. 10 days of GW2, 5 of which, the kids are in school.

Been waiting this for so many years.

Pre-purchased mine through Gamestop and I have 3-day early access.

Depends when you purchased because where I am, they completely ran out of 3-day codes about a week and a half before BWE 3. I wouldn't be surprised if there are no codes left if they do the same thing everywhere else and was left with whatever that one day early access code was or something to do with one day.

Yeah it's totally weird. FYI, as a test I tried parking it in various areas and adjusting the settings to watch the FPS counter. Crazy: sometimes, in an area with nothing going on, turning everything down would make the framerate jump up. In other areas, with lots going on, turning everything down would not cause a single frame's worth of increase.

That's a pretty common symptom in PC gaming. It is a sign that - in the latter situations - the framerate drop is because the GPU is waiting on data from the CPU so it can render. In those cases changing in-game graphics settings won't really do anything because the GPU isn't the one holding up your next frame. MMOs in particular lean on the CPU very hard compared to most modern games, there's not much getting around it.

Is there a trick to early-access registration? Finally checked my email after preordering weeks ago from Amazon to get my code, but when I enter the information to register I get a 502 error message every time.

Apparently you just have to keep on trying or try it on a different computer. Other people have had your same problem, but they were eventually able to register by simply trying a bunch of times and one finally working

I'm happy to announce two upcoming...
GAFGuild Mumble Meet & Greet Events!

Here's another opportunity for everyone to hop on Mumble and get to know their future guildmates before launch. Even if you don't have a microphone, you can still participate since Mumble has a chat window. If you don't want to speak up, that's fine too; talking is not mandatory and you're welcome to just log in and listen (keep the creepy stalker breathing to a minimum though).

The first event will be held this Friday at 10PM Eastern (7PM Pacific, 2am GMT) and run until people leave. This is an hour later than the previous event since a few people on the West Coast were getting home from work and not having time to have dinner or relax.

The second event will be our Mega-Awesome Pre-Launch Super-Countdown Festival of Hype, and will begin on Friday, August 25th at Midnight (9PM on the 24th Pacific, 4am GMT) and run for 3 hours. At this point, the game launches and everyone officially has license to freak out. This event is strictly B.Y.O.K (Bring Your Own Kool-Aid).

Has anyone who purchased the soundtrack from directsong gotten or had their copies shipped?

Nope, I just checked my order status today and all it says is "Payment Approved" or something like that. It's supposed to be out this month, probably not until after launch.

Im going to play it smart and be asleep the 3 hours before launch. I actually want to be awake when i play it all day on saturday

Well, you can show up whenever. I fully expect Mumble to be chatty even before the appointment time. I personally plan on sleeping a bit during the day so I'm well-rested at launch.

I know when 3AM rolls around and I rush to get my characters, there's no way I'll be able to go back to bed after waiting years to play.

2am and 4am are far too late. Can I just join the Mumble server outside of these times and say hello or will things be too quiet?

Ed: Got beat.

Im oging to channel my inner lameness and go straight back to bed. Ill be there bright and early though! and will get on mumble then.

And fuck, no-doze and caffeine. That shit will just wreck my sleeping schedule. I might have done it if i got the week off after launch, but nope, gotta go to work on monday :(
