I don't understand the brony culture. Like, why is it so big and separate? Like, comics have comic conventions, okay, that's fine. Video games have video game conventions. Still fine.

Why is MLP so... alone and so big of a culture? It feels to me like creating a whole convention to celebrate Kingdom Hearts or something.

Like, why so big, and why so obvious?

The obvious answer is because they try to keep to themselves because they're the object of ridicule among other nerds and geeks. So they have their own separate convention to avoid that sort of awkwardness.

PPG went all Flash animation in like the last 2 seasons. it was one of the first shows to use Flash.

if you get the complete series boxset, its pretty strange to see the difference.

the old eps have decayed and are grainy and the colors are washed out, and the newer ones are clean and super vibrant, but the movements of the characters are a bit robotic.

If i had to choose between attending this weird shit or the Gathering of the Juggalos, i think i would choose the latter. Can't beat tits for a dollar!

I watched an episode once. It was a kids show. Animation was meh, voice acting was grating. Plot was right up there with an episode of Full House ("I really wanna babysit! Oh no it's not fun like I thought and now I'm in over my head." *wah wah*) Really don't get it but Big Bang Theory is really popular too so people will watch any kind of crap I guess.

Oh yeah, that's when it switched to Kids WB for awhile...Dexter did that too (minus the WB part), and both later seasons of those shows sucked...but that was when the original creators left it and thus it got cheaper.

Big Bang Theory is really popular too so people will watch any kind of crap I guess.

Pixar makes children's films, but adults enjoy them. And much like Pixar films (though decidedly less so I'd say), there parts to some cartoons these days that adults can enjoy. Not just MLP, but there are adult followings for Adventure Time, Korra, Thundercats (R.I.P.), Phinias and Ferb, and more.

All comes down to personal taste, they're not all for everyone. Like it, or don't. There's some crazy people who don't like MST3K (and I assume they're all pedophiles), but I try not to bring it up that often.

I would say Pixar (and Disney perhaps to a lesser degree) make family films, intended to be seen primarily by both children and their parents, not simply the children solely.

it's ok to be socially maladjusted. the fact is many, if not most, bronies are. the same could be extended for the majority of anyone that buries themselves in nerd culture to escape the 'harsh' realities of the world around them. that is what this is for many of these people: an escape

the truth is that not everyone in this earth is going to be talented socially. many people are introverts. many are just naturally creepy. There is nothing wrong with people who have these personality traits; they simply must surround themselves with people that are like that. That's part of what a convention is.

it only sounds harsh because people are not used to hearing the truth. but that is the truth. There is nothing wrong with being socially maladjusted. There is only something wrong with trying to act like you're not.

I'm just saying my opinion it's a boring children's show. I got no problem with people liking kid's shows, I like certain kid's shows, I just scratch my head when people crow about the writing on the show. Just don't get it. I guess the thing that bugs me is when people talk about it as a life changing experience.

Yeah, you know if I'm being honest that's my problem. When I hear a brony talk about how the show taught them how to love and how they live their life by the My Little Pony credo, I look down at that person. I know that doesn't make me a better person than them but I do. The people who are into it for dumb, magical fun I get. Everything else? Head scratcher. I am into the messed up (non-pornographic) fan art in an ironic way so maybe I'm a pony hipster. There a word for that yet?

Even Faust stated that was her goal with rebooting the franchise. She wanted something adults could watch too. And there's certainly nods in the show no kid would get. Doing an entire episode based on an old episode of Star Trek, Recreating almost frame for frame the ending to Star Wars, do an episode send up to "The Music Man", throwing "The Big Lebowski" cast into the background, etc.

Again though. it's not for everyone.
