Fighting Games Weekly | August 13-19

My only real "hate" for it is not liking watching it played in tournaments. If top players like playing it then more power to them, I mean, despite all we've said about people playing what they want, players like Dieminion do have the ability to help bump numbers at least a little bit.

Balrog is US style boxer grabs his opponent and proceeds to headbutt them. How is that not classless? Like it could have been worse and he could gone for earbiting, but Rog is no way Dudley.

Sounds like you're really grasping man. The racial stereotypes in the character design are minor and take a big backseat to the movesets and fightstyles that people actually remember.

So GAF,
according to the Monster Hunter thread
Capcom is announcing a new game at their conference at Gamescom in 8 hours? DARKSTALKERS MEHBEH? I figured since others are expecting their game to be announced this time around, it's a perfect time for them to get screwed over and Darkstalkers to finally get announced.

Whatcha think?

This seems mighty familiar...Multipage thread based on false hype imminent?

He definitely has a point. A lot of top players, such as Ricky Ortiz, Justin, and PR Balrog, seem to be enjoying SFxT as well.

Id just post the picture of the FGTV house with Rickys SFXT trophy in the trash. But whatevs. The reality is tons of people tried it when it came out. Its not like people never gave it a shot. Hes just insane, or just bitter that a game where being lame/getting time outs is hated when thats what he loves.

Dieminion saying people who hate SF X T hate it because they are sheep

http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2012/...se-does-and-most-havent-given-it-enough-shot/

He talks about dumb stuff being removed yet there's still a fucking ton of stuff that people just haven't seen yet that's just as stupid. I don't even dislike SFxT but there's just more interesting stuff out there to play. It's going to need a New Gen to 3rd strike kind of jump before I even look at it again.

Geki, yo.

wDssx.gif

O shit. mind blown. Forgot about this guy.

From wikipedia:

"Geki (激?) is a Japanese ninja who fights with hand claws and shuriken and has the ability to teleport. He is the second Japanese opponent in the original Street Fighter,[11] a battle which takes place near Mount Fuji. In an issue of UDON's Street Fighter comic book, Geki appears as an assassin sent to kill Gen.[volume & issue needed] In the Street Fighter Legends: Ibuki comic miniseries, Geki is depicted as a rival clan to Ibuki's clan."

Plus this? lol

I want to see the new characters in tournament play.

I saw a finished Grand Finals at EVO. What did you watch?

Guessing he was thinking of the CEO finals.

I don't hate SFxT but I have issues about the game. Pay to win gems, timer scam everywhere with cinematic counting down time, and the universal defensive play overall because of the time issue.

Its fun when you ignore these issues but when these issues arise its really frustrating.

I get what you are saying.... But *cough* T Hawk.

Sometimes a game just sucks, and everyone agrees. Doesn't make them sheep.

I'd be willing to give it another shot after the major patch.

I think it is a good game, but I don't enjoy 2v2.

In general I play capcom games because I like them the best and have fun.

He's actually pretty tame compared to how us Native-Americans are usually portrayed.

What, Beef is Native American? MIND BLOWN. All this time I thought you were Asian. And I thought we were like brothers man, but now I see that you prefer the Tatanka over Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, we can no longer be friends.

Neither are retail new titles though. Both are ports
Still don't see how another port a half year later from it's release would stop another retail title from being announced for release much, much later.

Though I guess TGS is still the most likely time.

I assumed Mexican due to the Sin Cara stuff.

Is Chief Thunder or Condor more offensive?
I would say Tatanka from the WWE is way more offensive.

Why in the hell do people think I'm Asian?

Dieminion mentioned in the interview that he didn't really enjoy or start playing the game seriously until the patch hit. I can't speak on Ricky's behalf but it's possible his opinions changed when the patch came out too.

I definitely share the same sentiments as you. The game has its flaws but I do find some enjoyment out of it. I'm glad they made the assist gems less effective overall though.

I'm Mexican too.

A few years ago you were promoting a Sac stream. So us GAF'ers tuned in to watch of course and finally we got to see you on stream. I think you were wearing a hat, glasses(not sure about the glasses), and had facial hair. So you were a bit covered up, but I still thought I was looking at a Asian dude. Which is why when we were all watching the SBO stream, we were trolling you by calling you one of the commentators because we recognized how he had similar features to you from what we remember.

I dunno but I dont think Capcom will do it. The Vita port of SFxT will probably be one of the biggest bombas this generation, so I dont think Capcom wants to take any attention away from it by announcing a new fighting game. I could be wrong though.

No wonder you play Hawk! :D
No lie, that is EXACTLY why I play T.Hawk!
I thought Beef was brown.

-1 brown brotha in FGC-GAF.
Well my skin is brown!

I wasn't wearing glasses. And Even Kadey pointed out that the dude in the SBO stream was the guy with the hat! You were trolling the wrong person! :lol
WHY THE FUCK WOULD ANYONE PREFER TATANKA OVER ANYTHING?!
God dammit, this right here.

I wonder how Namco/Harada feels about the disdain towards SFxT from the general player base. I know no one sane is going to think "well SFxT sucked so this new tekken game will suck" but publishers/developers are always touchy about how other people handle their IPs. Isn't that the main reason Capcom and SNK fell out?

You'd be surprised.

In Raw Is War on the SNES, you only really needed to be able to Irish whip your opponent to be able to land Tatanka's special move. A lot of the other characters were forced to hit the R button super fast to get their special moves to work.

Or maybe that was Royal Rumble on SNES.

Hopefully just something along the lines of "don't do something as stupid as dlc gems".

The rest of the problems like timeouts or other mechanics you can debate all day. Tekken games always have their own share of bullshit too.

I would not be surprised if Namco is considering not doing TxSF at this point.

Yeah it might be a hard sell at this point. Having said that didn't sfxt sell pretty well? (before the hate started).

Producing a game both communities love and adopt might be impossible, but they could still make something viable.

I'm not really talking about the problems the game might or might not have more so that Namco allowed Capcom to use their IP in a game which, right now, people don't want to touch. There's a ton of negativity around it for various reasons other than the actual gameplay itself and it didn't meet sales expectations. Namco can't be too happy with how their IP is being caught up in a ton of negativity that they had no hand in.

I would not be surprised if Namco is considering not doing TxSF at this point.

I've honestly not thought for one second that it would ever see the light of day.

Oh c'mon now, TKxSF isn't a hard sell because of SFxTK, it's still a different game altogether and your average person walking into a Gamestop has enough IQ to realize that. That and the fact the releases are likely to be separated by years. Again, people are overexaggerating the effect of SFxTK.

TKxSF is probably a hard sell because it's taking forever and will probably be released during that awkward transition-to-next-gen phase. Maybe even on current gen consoles. But we barely know anything about the game so it's kind of hard to infer selling points of a game that barely has anything done for it, if anything at all.

I agree. Sfxt may get "hate" but so do 99.9% of all fighting games. I also think a lot of people who bought it, most likely the majority couldn't give two shits what the fgc thinks of it. They would have just played it for a week or two and moved on to something else. Clearly with the gems capcom wasn't chasing the fgc anyway.

I think if anything they would just focus on keeping it more a core tekken game. No point trying to please everyone.

Don't make me say it again... <_<

Again, I'm not talking about how the game plays or even how it's going to effect TxSF if that even comes out. I'm talking about the relationship between Capcom and Namco.

The problem is that SFxT is an ugly project to follow up on. Why not devote resources to a "clean" Tekken IP without the baggage?

True but SFxT had more problems than that that would bother those people. Sound issues online, on disc dlc etc etc.

You are talking about Namco here. If anything all the anti-consumer shit Capcom did would have only brought them closer together.
