Counter-Strike: Global Offensive official site is live (kinda), beta starting today

Finally got the hang of the game now and I'm liking it a lot more than my first impressions.
When I first started playing the beta I was doing terrible to how I play in Source, but couple hours practice is all it takes.
Had my first really good game just now, went 20-0 on Italy.

I'm still disappointed that PS3/PC crossplay was removed. I was hoping that I could use a stable machine that I knew could run it, instead of my computer which is pretty mediocre when it comes to gaming. I don't think I will even bother purchasing this.

I'm thrilled. I can't imagine how frustrating it would be to have someone with a controller on my team getting annihilated 3 seconds into every round.

Thinking of getting this on PS3 as my PC isn't nice enough for a constant 1080p/60.

Any idea if it will be getting free updates? How sticky is the autoaim?

CSGO won't run 60fps on consoles. (?)
Gizmowned stated above he believe the game runs at 30fps.
It may or may not be 1080p? The Orange Box says it does 1080p, so who knows.

And it's my understanding that there will be NO aim assist on consoles.
That includes iron sights.
Thank you, Valve.

Gizmowned, one more question please...

Can you create an offline game, without any bots, with no time limit?
Or is there always a time limit, no matter what? Regardless of gametype.

Aww the cross-play would have been amazing. Or maybe make it a separate mode. I dunno, I think some people can aim extremely well with controllers, and not all PC players are good with the mouse. Would have been interesting to see that stats between mouse and controller players.

Wait, CSGO has ADS?

any invites left? would love to get one... haven't played cs since 2004, miss those days.

also add me if you want to play!

thanks! see you guys headshotting me in dust2 soon.

It would have been like one of those zoos that also let people hunt there.

Does anyone have a spare beta code for this? I have been playing CS:S today and I'm in a big CS mode (I would just buy CS: GO, but I'm broke at the moment)

Watched a stream of this game for a few hours today. IT really does just look like a graphical upgrade again =
There's nothing really wrong with graphical overhauls when it comes to CS.

What else are they supposed to add? Vehicles? Iron sights? Weapon customisation? All these things would wreck the flow of the game.

CS is a very simple game when it comes down to it, there's no need to change much - and if Valve ever did the community would be up in arms over it.

The changes are subtle, but I think it plays way better than CSS. You really want to be crouching or at least standing still before firing, which makes it feel less spazzy overall. In CSS I felt like you could get kills pretty easily with the assault rifles while running, but now I have a hard time hitting someone while walking and running is basically out of the question, except maybe up close with a shotgun.

They took out so much useless and/or annoying stuff, like the cabinets you could block hallways with, or nightvision goggles, and added a bunch of stuff that I appreciate, like the molotov, which feels really well balanced to me. It costs a bunch of money and a good deal of the time I throw it and accomplish nothing. Once in a blue moon you catch a team rushing in a confined area and cook the hell out of them and it feels well-earned.

So many other things, like tweaks to the map layouts, the scoring system actually taking into account completion of objectives, and separating casual mode and competitive mode. I've played 45 hours using only the matchmaking system and every game was 5v5, normal starting cash, and a decent map rotation, which is great for me because I can't stand having dozens of people playing dust_2 and everyone buying an awp every round.

Honestly, $15 is what a lot of companies charge for dlc that adds a few maps or an hour of single player content, and instead you get a game that has a decent graphical upgrade and subtle to major tweaks to virtually every system, and it went from 1 official game mode to 4.

Is it wrong that I've had the beta for months, even installed it, but have never played it? I'm not really big on CS.

Is it worth trying if I liked CSS?

Do you find people communicating via voice-chat in the 5v5 games mostly? Thats what I miss the most about CS 1.6/Source

New post on their blog. Nothing new really.

Welcome to the beta.

We have learned a great deal from players in our closed beta over the past several months, and we’re excited that so many new players are joining us. As we approach the release of CS:GO on August 21st, there’s still time to make adjustments to the game. Play as much as you can, and let us know what you think in the forums.

For those of you who are new to CS:GO, you have several ways to play. Using the “Find A Game” menu, you can enter one of four game modes – the Arms Race and Demolition modes are great opportunities to experiment with different weapons and strategies, while the Classic Casual and Competitive modes can quickly get you into a standard match. There’s also an option to play offline with bots, which is a great way for new players to learn core game concepts, and an excellent opportunity for veterans to hone their skills.
Meanwhile, consider joining one of the many community servers running custom maps and gameplay settings. The “Community Quick-Play” option will find a server for you, or you can select a server on your own with the “Browse Community Servers” option in the main menu or while in-game.

If you have a group of friends ready to play CS:GO, use “Play With Friends” to form a team and connect to a server as a group, or to join a friend wherever they are currently playing.
However you choose to play, we’re glad you could join us. Test the game, give us your feedback, and have fun.

Another disastrous launch from Valve. I want some compensation for this, and I want compensation for when they ♥♥♥♥ed up the Diablo 3 launch as well. And -then- they delay the Real Money Auction House, I mean jesus christ! I bet there won't even be PvP on release in CS: GO, we'll just have to farm ♥♥♥♥ing bots all day to get better weapons. The same exact thing -EVERY- time, Valve, god damnit. You've lost my faith as a customer.

You owe me compensation, or I'll never buy from you again. Seriously. Pick it up, Valve.

Amazing trolling, lol.
Also, if there is one thing that Valve and Blizzard has in common, that is definitely the way they treat Europe as a bastard child while having a HUGE chunk of income originate from there.

Hoping that I can play this by the time I get home in 4 hours, havent played CS in about 2 years, even though I clocked over 700 hours of CS:S.

Hoping the new competitive mode promotes team work and communication :)
