On the topic of spvp can you bring your pve level 80 gear in? Or are you always stuck wearing whatever pvp gear you have unlocked?
All the SPVP gear has the same stats and you can't wear your PVE armor

Has Anet said that or is it just an assumption? I realize no one's gotten to level 80 to try and keep that gear during pvp, but as I understand it all level 80 gear is more or less the same stat wise. With slight variations of course.

From what I've heard the pvp armor acutally has no stats on it. Instead all the stats that would be on it are on the pvp amulet instead. Whereas in pve the stats are distributed among all the pieces of armor; so the two are not really compatible.

I think that's my issue, I can't work out WHICH of the million possible combination of skills I want to work with.
I think Anet will end up getting some money from me for extra character slots, as I'll want at least 1 of each class at some point.

No. The PvP armor all has max level stats on it. You can go buy the equipment, buy the runes or gems you want and throw it all together. I still don't know if you can wear your PvE gear in. There's really not much point to it though.

Incorrect. The PvP armor has 0 (zero) stats on them whatsoever. You can equip runes on them (there's a rune vendor) which grant some stats, but besides those runes, nothing.

Oh. I swear I had stats last stress test. Must have been the runes. My mistake then.
Just the armor value itself. Everything else comes from Runes, Sigils or the socketable Amulet.

After over ten years playing MMOs and having very distinc "MMO" and "non-MMO" circles of friends, Guild Wars 2 (which is attracting new blood from the second circle) made me realize how hard it is to explain that very concept to someone who's never played an MMO. I mean, when you tell them "it's stored server side" they usually just ask "OK, but when does it save?".
I guess the easiest way I've found is "you're remotely controlling your character, who actually lives in the server, and imagine it is saved every instant".
That too, actually. I'm somewhat nervous about a friend getting into MMOs for the first time with this. He's also married and works from home. :/
On the other hand, he's show quite good restraint by skipping all stress tests after trying the game in BWE3, and has been gaming for decades, so perhaps he has enough "videogame antibodies" to resist and I'm worring for nothing.
It will be my first MMO too my brazilian fellow! I'm excited. It's all GAF's fault.
GAF got into some really amazing games, like Dark/Demon Souls, and for that I'm extremely grateful.
You can't; your PvE gear (or really, any PvE items) are not visible in the PvP lobby. You have a different set of bags.
Indeed it would not make any sense (and run entirely counter to the whole design philosophy for PvP) that PvE progress gave you advantages in PvP.
Also, Playlist Maker coming in a bit, I just discovered a bug in it.
I'm wondering that as well. I rolled on Aurora Glade for the stess test, but it looks like that is going to be the unofficial Spanish language server.
Here's a list of servers (EU is under US) and the guilds that will be rolling there, it also mentions which unofficial language they'll be:

it looks like Desolation and Gandara are the designated UK servers.
I'm thinking of rolling on either those or on Piken Square, the unofficial RP server. While I don't actively RP I do give my characters proper RP names, and find the EU RP servers generally speaking have an active community. Not really sure yet.
EU GAF roll on Gandara for launch. It was chosen for the first BWE (First server starting with 'G'), so it's already populated by GAF.

Think I'll be picking Gandara as my main server as well. Thought about rolling on an US server, but doing WvWvW while everyone is asleep doesn't sound too exciting.
Probably worth putting in Bold, italics and underlining: EU GAF roll on Gandara for launch.

Not anymore. They were handing out keys like crazy for the previous BWE, but now that it's down to the last leg of the race, only pre-order and pre-purchases can access stress tests.
There is no demo at the current time.
That's too bad. I guess I could just lend him my disc and info to test.

This list mentions that GAF will be on Gate of Madness. I thought the agreed upon server was Stormbluff Isle? Was this changed?
Well being from Sweden, Far Shiverpeaks seems like the best server for me since it's unofficial the northern europe server (Denmark, Finland, Norway (Scandinavia))
But I really can't stand the people from scandinavia in mmos. The're always whining, so I'm now lookning for a international europe server. Suggestions?

Been googling for the Dutch speaking server, Benelux seems to have chosen Far Shiverpeaks as well. Still wondering which server to pick as well.
Im thinking Gandara since it's a UK server (a.k.a. international server) and alot of gaffers. Seems pretty populated at this time aswell.
It really come down to which crowd you want to play in WvW with. Guesting takes care of the rest.
With that said, I chose Gandara for the community, and not for WvW. So if you know that you are going to play mostly with people from Far Shiverpeaks, then it might be your best choice.
I can't really comment on the 'scandinavian in mmos' part, as I have never been apart of a Scandinavian community in any MMOs, but I'm like you from Sweden.
Yeah was thinking of Gandara and Desolation(UK as well). How big is EU GAF?
I am from Sweden too and I have learned to try and stay away from unofficial Scandinavian servers. So I am rolling on Gandara with the rest of the EU gaffers.

None - I'm going on the U.S. server. There wasn't lag during the last beta weekend, the majority of GAF will be there, and I can guest on my friend's server.

I tried but they wouldn't let me.
Only way to do it is to buy gems and transfer with the gems. You will get the gems back once the game goes live so if you were already going to buy some just go ahead and do it. If you weren't planning on buying any I would just wait it out. There's probably only going to be 1 or 2 more stress tests until release and the 25th isn't exactly far away.

Yep! Names can be two words. Hawkian has character names with four words, I think.
It's not a separate forename and surname like EQ2.
Mmm, no. Nothing from GW1 matters any more. You could reserve names* via GW1 up to July 31st
*Two word 'first and last' names only
Right in GW2 there are no limits other than a max character limit- so your Guardian can be named just "GOB" or "GOB the Real Magician" if it fits
