Yeah, it's easy for him to explode if not dealt with properly, but it's also easy to shut him down early. Naga and Dark Seer get banned in pro games right from the get-go as well, but they aren't instant-wins either.

There's a difference between pub games and pro games. Just because you've shut him down easily in your matches doesn't make it true.

Where's 1.09 when you need him.

I definitely understand why Lycan is banned in almost all pro games, but my original amusement was caused by the notion of Lycan being an insta-win in matchmaking games.

And indeed the suggestion is laughable.

I love this game but man every 5/10 games or so some of the guys in matchmaking are just horrible!

I wish there was a fun/competitive pool you could pick to just have some fun without being berated constantly.

have you ever been told you have the worst ideas ever? If need be, I can explain why this is a bad idea.

The roshan pit change in that changelog seems kinda unnessecary, considering the win ratio for dire is extremely slight. Getting second pick in the draft seems to affect matches much more.

Instant win? No.

Extraordinarily easy to exploit his advantages in matchmaking all the way to the tippy top of very high tier? Oh yes. He's far more potent in matchmaking than he is in pro games.

And here in lies the main 'problem' with DOTA balancing. Its balanced for high-tier/competitive play.
Has its pro's and con's though. One of the con's being some heroes are easier to stomp with in low level play. Probably gets worse the lower you get too, when you get people not understanding all the heroes skills and stuff (bloodseeker ulti).

I prefer it to LoL's balancing, which seems to try to balance pub and competitive play and fails at balancing the game for either level. ALso too many kneejerk nerf reactions.

This problem still exists in HoN, DotA 1, and I expect most other MOBA/ARTS games. It's mostly the nature of the game, some heroes are just easier to stomp with than others.

guys I stomped a game with PL. Ez win hero is ez.

good players will stomp u with any hero in low tier tmm. Hell, one game we got destroyed by ethereal trollseeker.

Nobody literally thinks any hero is instant win, its hyperbole. Lycan is just among a group of heroes who are easy to succeed with in pubs (fuck you invoker, fuck you and your stupid icewall piece of shit cold snap shadow fiend level early game damage).

I've come across my fair share of bad lycans.

I'm definitely one of them, heh. My only really guaranteed win (unless the team synergy is completely fubar) "pub stomping" hero is Riki (I'm not calling him a pub stomper, but I have a much higher win rate when using him). He's the only hero I can play confidently (aside from BH, sorta). Otherwise... its usually 50/50 for me.

I have a pretty enormous win rate with Riki. He's pretty good in pubs, especially since he does SO much damage with so little items if you max backstab first (which you should). Can solo gang people everywhere. Usually I pick him when they have a jungler since it means easy pickoffs.

?????????????????????????????????????????????

Naga is queen of dota. Undefeatable if played right.

The problem I see with lycans in pubs is that they don't understand what the hero does exactly. Its not that they're getting the wrong items or jungling wrong, they just try to gank the sidelane constantly, even if the lane doesn't have any strong stuns or slows. Later on they focus on team fighting. His true strength is just making the other team pay for every single thing they do by taking towers.

That being said its time to rant about pubs. I honestly have no idea what goes through people's minds when they blame other players for their loss, when they utterly fail in the picking phase by doing stupid lanes, like solo suicide lane undying. That carry getting free farm? Thats what wins games. Not the wr that misses shackle shot most of the time, not your mid not ganking, its stupid lanes that have no real merit to them.

yo fckn hongaf wen i first play riki in dota 2 like 1 year ago i did this and they laugh at me and i told them to fck off because this was pro build

Zoid: We are currently experiencing an interruption in service on our matchmaking server which is preventing players from connecting to the Dota 2 Network. We are working on the issue and hope to have service available again soon.

So I really don't know what I need to buy when I play. I been just playign zeus..I buy a magic stick and boots than I go for the boot upgrade than ???

Mana boots into force staff or drums (or both), then point booster into agha or bloodstone I suppose. BKB if you need immunity. Then I'd get a disable, probably sheep. If you want more nuke damage and are farming well you can go refresher in order to immediately tip teamfights in your favor with double global nuke. I wouldnt do this without an aghanims though.

If you're doing ok, aim for a eul's or force staff, or try to help with wards/mek.

If you're doing really good go for sheepstick, refresher orb, or aghanims. Refresher orb should be a second item, its hard to use with a low mana pool. Bloodstone is also possible.
