what kind of job?
Retail job. If he was alone it (probaly) would've been easier to me to go and ask him if he needed any help; to start a conversation. But since he was with friends....oh well.
Maybe you had a moco hanging out.

Or maybe he thought you were cute. Stay positive here!

Hahaha...moco. :p
Hmmm...I did went to the bathroom before and I saw nothign weird..hmm... :/ ...

:p

Hoping he returns. With my luck, he won't. But hey..was nice, for a change. ;)

Lifting weights, watching One Piece, and playing FFIX while applying for FAFSA/searching for work.

last week of physics! :D then I have 2 FULL weeks of summer break before autumn session starts.

School, gym, job shadowing and studying has been my life the last 10 weeks. I can't hardly wait to do nothing.
Thats cool I really can't wait to start my first year of college!!
Way too much thinking. And watching old movies. :/

Errr... Work.. Tinychat.. Sleep.. its been a really boring week. Hmm.. no can't think of much else.

I don't even know what to say. I don't think post-coital moods last this long.

Playing Sleeping Dogs and watching Pedro Almodóvar movies. There's nothing I enjoy more than watching women in incredibly bright clothing speak Spanish to each other.

Also this.

Job hunting, gym (triceps are killing me), hair cut, and hunting down a copy of TWEWY.

Yeah, I've been counting the days until college starts! Also have been hanging around with The boyfriend.
Life is going well for me right now. :L I really can't wait to meet new people during college!

So what has everyone been doing this week so far?
Playing EarthBound for the first time ever. Nothing else really compared to that, but also field trips at work and dealing with screaming and poking children. And horrifying things I had to deal with on the bus that I wish I could forget. Oh the joys in my life. And one of my best friends is home visiting from California so we've been playing scary games and its been tres fun! What about you?

I'd have order from amazon.ca, and cheapest before shipping is around $40.
I'm probably in the dissenting opinion, but I don't think the game's worth $40. It's fun and it looks great, but the story seemed a bit trite to me, and I sold it once I finished it. It's definitely worth playing if you're interested in it, but $40 seems steep.

There was a local guy selling it for $25, but he suddenly texted me last night to tell me he couldn't find the game, even though it was sealed.

So what has everyone been doing this week so far?

It's been kinda a boring week. I'm on my off week for chemo and I finally feel like eating again, so that's been good. I'm just in training this week for work and then I have Friday off. Sunday will be fun though, will pick up an 3DS XL and NSMB2.

Just waiting for college and hanging out with the man I love. :D

I really do hope everything goes fine! Also yeah Im going to wait to trade up for my 3DS XL!

So what has everyone been doing this week so far?

Got a hair cut, went for a walk in the woods, finished summer quarter of school yesterday, watched a bunch of Julia Child episodes today, and working the rest of the week.

watching Pedro Almodóvar movies. There's nothing I enjoy more than watching women in incredibly bright clothing speak Spanish to each other.

You're my kind of man. Almodovar <3

I've really enjoyed what I've seen of his work, and the repeating actors and ideas of sex remind me a lot of Wong Kar-Wai, which is definitely a plus. I finished Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and loved every second of it--from the unconventional camera angles to the costumes to the plot--but man, the subtitles were the worst I've read since The Official Story. Criterion's spoiled me on that front.

I've only seen Volver.

I think "plain" is the best word to describe it.
I guess that's the next one I'll watch. I have Law of Desire, Talk to Her, and Bad Education sitting on my floor for when I get in the rare mood to watch a movie, but Volver has Penélope Cruz in it and the others don't.

OMG, why aren't you 10 years older?

Spain accent freaks me out. I've had a really difficult time trying to understand what they say in most of the Spanish movies I've seen.

Same although I understood Volver just fine. Some other movies like Pan's Labyrinth I had to turn on the subtitles.

You were doing so well...
whoa

I can't stand Moffat's Doctor Who, but Davies' stuff, with the exception of anything involving the Master, was incredible. Doctor Who isn't even my kind of sci-fi, but I haven't enjoyed a TV show so much in my life. Blink and Midnight are some of the best television I've watched.

But you'd still be 18 and I would 44.
Huh. I guess I'll just set it up so I can age exponentially.

Babel's the only movie I've seen him in, but he's an incredibly good looking man.

Y tu mamá también is an amazing movie, and also one of the most sexually charged I've seen. The script and characters... I should stop writing about this, it would be an incredibly boring wall of text, but I love Cuarón's work.

So what has everyone been doing this week so far?

oh gosh it's been kinda busy i guess.

Monday I went to an eye doctor appointment, then dropped my niece off at volleyball practice, then got my cat (Thanks to Dany M for the pic :D) from my mom's house and brought him over to the new apartment.

Tuesday I went with my mom to pick up my dad from the airport, then got some mail from a sweet GAFfer who sent me this Marina & the Diamonds poster, and I immediately ran out to Target to look for a frame, and ended up buying a whole bunch of other stuff.

Today, Wednesday, was supposed to be a relaxing day, but my pops ended up coming over for lunch and hanging out for awhile, and then a friend of mine offered me a ticket to go see System of a Down, which is one band I honestly thought I'd never get to see. So...I just got home from that, and I got sushi on my way back! :D And now I'm posting this post.

Hopefully TOMORROW will be a relaxing day. I have some music that I'm working on that...needs to be worked on, as well as some DJing stuff to do.

Ugh. Too busy.

Yeah, agreed. There are some movies where he doesn't look the best, but he looked great in Babel, and the entire segment in Mexico was my favorite anyway.

The guy is pretty.

GAF, can you help me broaden my movie tastes? I haven't watched any good in years beyond the usual pixar movies. I'm also a bit of a sucker for horror, romance and chick flicks, if that helps. Any suggestions will be fine as I want to see what's out there so I can form my own opinion.

Also I keep seeing dozens of people that look like models every day at work. It's so hard to not stare. Why must everyone be so beautiful?! *flips table over*

Oh, and my Xbox 360 randomly started working again. I'm not really sure how but whatever. If anyone wants to be Xbox Live friends just tell me your user name or add me (it's my GAF user name).

When I get some decent internet service this weekend, I'm totally down.
My internet is notoriously bad, so I'm in favor of playing with somebody who doesn't have decent internet.

I made a three movie list of things for dragonlife to watch a while back, but I can't find the post, so I'm going to defer to my Flickchart on this one: Chungking Express, In the Mood for Love, Clue, The Evil Dead, Lost in Translation, 12 Angry Men, Capote, Moon, The Hours, Moulin Rouge!, Charade, Rear Window, and An American Werewolf in London are, for my money, incredible films and required watching. Evil Dead and An American Werewolf in London fall into the horror genre, Moulin Rouge is a romance, and Chungking Express and In the Mood for Love are too, but in a different way, and the other movies fall more into the suspense and drama camp. If you can only watch one, make it an American Werewolf in London. If you can watch two, skip An American Werewolf in London and watch In the Mood for Love and Chungking Express and then go on Spotify and put California Dreamin' on repeat.

To be relevant to the thread, I really enjoyed A Single Man, The Kids are All Right, and Undertow, the last of which is a really excellent Peruvian gay film that, despite its Ghost Whisperer-esque plot, is incredibly sensitive, well executed, and honest, even with the supernatural element. Cristian Mercado is also really handsome and it's a well-known fact that I love Spanish.

I usually don't like romantic movies and I'm not even sure if this is one of them but I'll recommend Never let me go, just because it's one of the most overlooked recent movies. Not as good as the incredibly beautiful atmospheric novel in which it's based, but still good. I'm throwing adjectives because I can't decide how to describe the book, one of my favorites. I should also say that reading it triggered my depression, so you decide if you want to read/watch it or not.

I just saw Cabin in the Woods and I suppose I'll never like a horror movie. One of the most ridiculous things I've seen in years. It's kinda funny and ironic because of the meta-stuff, but not horror-ish at all. Also, predicable as hell.

Thanks, I'll check all these out over the next few weeks. :)

Oh man I just saw the trailer for "Never Let Me Go" and I wanna see it so bad. It looked really good. Now I just need to find a movie rental store that isn't out of business. :/

I have the movie on my floor (I have quite a few movies on my floor), and reading a favorable review from somebody who read the book makes me glad I decided to give it a go. Never Let Me Go is the only book I've read by Ishiguro, but I definitely agree that it's beautifully written. I do a terrible job explaining why I like things, but Ishiguro's able to convey emotions, and even the lack of emotion, with such few words and build scenes and settings that capture such strong feelings of anguish and nostalgia that even though Never Let Me Go's plot isn't what would typically qualify as a page-turner, the atmosphere and raw feeling behind the story always made me want to keep reading. I realize the novel was on the shortlist for the Booker prize, but all the same, I don't think it gets the attention and praise it deserves. It really is a quiet masterpiece.

Not that that has anything to do with the discussion at hand. Books are awesome.

This thread tends to go a lot of places anyway, lol.

I'm actually trying to get into reading books too as I've only ever read the Harry Potter series, textbooks, and assigned reading. I want to be more "cultured", if that makes sense at all. I'm thinking of buying a Kobo e-reader(works the best in Canada from what I've heard) so some book recommendations would be nice. Once again, romance books are fine as long as it's not porno like in 50 Shades of Grey. Some other books in my must buy list are the Hunger Games series.

Could I ask a question here, or am I butting in and there is some other thread for that? :)
What's the question about? :P

It doesn't get the praise it deserves. I can understand how some people might not like it, as you said it's not exactly a page turner, but everyone should try to read it. Ishiguro's writing is just beautiful. I'm in the middle of "The Remains of the Day", and while it's really good, it didn't make me react as strongly as I did with Never let me go. I wish I could find more books like these.

I could probably hit the character limit doing a good old-fashioned book recommendation post, so I'll save this for the morning when I have time to think out my selections so I don't just throw my bookcase at the keyboard.
