Breaking Bad - Season 5, Part 1 - Sundays on AMC

I just want to say that this season has been great for the most part. I am disappointed in how they are handling Walt. He is just so straight up bad now. He does not have the depth that he once did to make me route for the guy. They could kill him tomorrow and I would be happy to watch the rest of the characters.

They are taking him as far as they can in one direction so that his rock bottom is REALLY rock bottom, and then he'll try to find some shred of redemption, if that's even possible. He has hair in the flash forward--Heisenberg is dead.

Edit: doh, consecutive posts.

Hey one good thing Walt did was turn Jesse into a more mature man.

If it wasn't for Walt, Jesse would still be fucking around, getting high, doing jack shit with his time. Now he's a MAN.

The problem is that Jesse is a more mature man who's in the worst situation of his life. He's only more mature because he's aged decades in a year, and if he ever finds out that Walt was the cause of 90% of the bad things that happened to him, that the one person he counts as a role model is actually the one ruining his life, it'll send him back onto a downward spiral.

Doesn't Jesse already realize this since about midway through season 3? After he got beat up by a Hank?

Nah, Walt's not smanging anyone. He's not even sexually driven. (His rapey overtures to Skyler come from a different place.)

I just thought of a series end idea.

Walt realizes all the terrible things he's done. He gets Skylar and Jesse to forgive him, and makes a plan to turn his life around from this point on. He thanks his lucky stars that everything is okay. He got out of the meth business and the DEA never found out.

He wakes up the next morning coughing up blood. He walks outside and some random hitman shoots him in the face right in front of his family.

Walt would have to think that hes done something wrong to apologize for it. If this season has show anything its that he enjoys being Heisenberg. There is no way hes about to start asking for forgiveness.

I think Lydia's actress might be over acting a little bit, whenever she gets all nervous and stuff it just seems so overdone that I just laugh, or is that the intent?
I'm with you here. I think she's a terrible actress. Even when she's not in scared situations, I don't like the way she acts. Like when she was standing over the map telling Walt and Jesse about the train, she seemed unnatural, kinda like she was uptight or uncomfortable with acting.

You would be uptight and uncomfortable too if you were around guys that might kill you at any moment.

If Skyler was played by a hotter actress then I think there would be less complaints. Someone like the lead chick in Weeds. People would be far too busy drooling to whine.

Dexter Season 1 is actually really, really good.

If that had been a one-off and had just stopped right there, it would be considered a classic.

The problem was that they could NEVER top that first season, because, without spoiling anything, it used the best possible plot devices available with that scenario and set of characters.

There was nowhere to go but down after Season 1.

If that's the best season then the show is a fat turd. Anyone with half a brain could tell who the killer was about halfway through the season. I pissed off an ex girlfriend who was excited to show me the show when I called it so early on.

- Man named Walter White wanted on meth charges in Tuscaloosa County
Walter Eddy White, 55, was on probation in Tuscaloosa County beginning in 2010 after being arrested in 2008 on charges of trafficking methamphetamine, unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of precursor materials, according to court documents. He violated his probation in January 2012 after being arrested on the same charges in Bibb County.

Yeah of course but what I'm saying is not about her character but about her as an actress. What I mean is it seems forced.

I'm in the same boat, captain. I enjoyed the great train robbery episode for the most part, but the whole scene with Lydia was hard to believe. It turned into like a bad parody of an Ocean's 13 planning scene with her.

I like skyler the most of them all. but still, the female leads on AMC shows have to struggle to earn fan likability.
I LOOOOOVEEEEEE Peggy Olson though. LOVE!

And I like megan too. Also I'm pretty sure Betty is supposed to be somewhat unlikeable considering how childish she is. I think the only character that isn't supposed to be unlikeable that gets a lot of hate by a lot of people is Skyler. And it's more because early series behaviour rather than nowadays.

Yeah, AMC just needs to have better female leads for their shows. Skyler, Betty and Lori just all suck.

Joan (Hendricks) has a far more important role, is smoking hot, and nails the part. Peggy (Moss), who has arguably the most robust role of all females - possibly the entire show, is not smoking hot but still lauded for her ability to play her role amazingly well.

I don't think your theory holds a lot of water.

edit: Annie Parisse was pretty baller in Rubicon as well.

The short synopsis thing or whatever you call it is out for the final episode. No spoilers in it. Won't post it here since I know there is another thread for spoilers, and won't post it there since I'm avoiding spoilers this season (these don't count for me).

Anyway, sounds amazing. And by final episode I mean the 8th, not the 16th, duh. The one for the 7th is also out, which also sounds amazing.
