Fighting Games Weekly | August 13-19

There were all kinds of players listed in the trailer for games they aren't known for playing. Listing CDjr as a SF4 player is kind of hilarious.

So, how about that Filipino Champ? What a character, eh?

I don't think anybody mentioned it or not but seems like IGN Pro League is the closest to getting a Capcom game (UMvC3) for their tournaments.

IPL did have permission to run tournaments for SFxT if you'll recall, hence IGN's sponsorship of Cross Assault and that weird 8-player invitational they ran at SXSW. This means that Capcom's willing to work with them, unlike MLG. (I'm don't think IPL is that much different, though.)

I guess this means they could get the rights to run tournaments for UMvC3, but I'd still be very surprised. Did you see something that suggested they were close to or have gotten permission from Capcom?

The only other things I know about IPL are that they're running tournaments for DOA5 and that Jedirobb works for them.

Also, they're owned by Rupert Murdoch, but I just find that amusing for some reason.

EDIT: Oh, are you referring to Fishstix's tweet? Yeah, he phrased that badly (Fishstix'd it). I don't think IPL has or is close to getting UMvC3.

Let's play some Æ Cobalt. Haven't touched the game in over a week and I don't plan on doing anything out of the ordinary tonight.

That Revelations stream is like watching 2009 streaming all over again. I know it's not Team Hazmat's fault, they are much more capable than this.
Seriously though. Ustream?

The head guy from IPL (David Ting) said on Live on 3 that they feel really confident that they will have a Capcom game for the tournament in November. Slasher asked if anyone know which Capcom game and one of the IPL guys responded saying they are playing a lot of Marvel.

Ustream has Blaz (I think), and twitch one has SFxTekken on.

The venue looks weird, like it will be too big and empty, like that Cincinnati tournament earlier in the year.

In case you haven't realized, nobody but the pros go to tourneys for the money. Money is an idiotic way to get people coming to tourneys.
