I've got a question about HOM rewards. If I need three points, is it probably cheaper to go for Zaishen Support or two elite armors, including Obsidian? I've already got three armors, including Vabbian and Kurzick, and I have a some points into Zaishen as well, but nothing significant. I'm very out of the economy's loop.
That's Primeval armor? That looks much more appealing that the GW1 version. I can't place the other two but the Ranger one looks very familiar.

In a similar boat as you. Zaishen Supporter is NOT a cheap option. Zkeys are really damn expensive right now.
This is my HoM (I only have factions and EotN) and it's armor or bust, but I only have 23k left in funds, so am kinda stuck

Obsidian + 50k set and zkeys are pretty much equal in terms of cost. It's like a 50k sway, tops.

As I understand it, Alliance = many guilds, cooperating and sharing tactics/info towards a common goal.
I'm not sure there's an official definition for "Alliance" in Guild Wars 2. I think people just use it from familiarity with the first game.
In case you don't know, in the first game each Guild could only have 100 members, but then 10 guilds could join up and become an "Alliance". Since GW2 has a higher member cap for Guilds, I suppose Alliances aren't needed but some have retained their names.

Yeah, think of it like WWII and the Axis powers vs. the Allied powers. Axis and Allies are the Alliances. The countries those alliances are made up of: Germany, Italy, Japan, etc. vs. US, UK, Russia, etc. are the "guilds".

Will PvE guesting still be possible after release? IIRC, you could pick a world to play on, but you couldn't do WvWvW.
Is that still the case? I've got a PvE guild that I've spent around 1000 hours with in GW1 that I'd hate to abandon, but I'd really like to be active in GAF as well. Since I want to start WvWvW with GAF, I'd probably pick our server, as long as I can guest to my PvE guild's server.

guesting is one of the features that they say will be in at launch (wasnt in beta from what i saw). So yea, youll be able to guest on any server you like. You just wont be able to WvW for that server

Yeah, sure. Actually now that I know of the Wayfarer's Reverie I think I'm going to go for 1 Oppressor + 1 Tormented + 1 20 Companion Statutes + 2 Two cheaper elites for 30.

Not totally sure what you mean, but I never heard anything about needing an invite to guest on a world. My impression was that you can freely choose any world to guest on, and choose a different world after that, etc if you want to
Guilds were a big deal in GW1. (that doesn't sound too douchie does it?) It was the only way you could play in ranked gvg matches, etc. So any old team from gw1 is practically coming right over to gw2. That's hundreds of guilds in and of itself. Considering how guilds work in gw2 (more social club than sports team), I wonder how many of them will survive/merge/etc. in the long run.

I had really good success spamming trade in EotN District 1 with specifically which minis I needed (I focused on 1yr and 2yr ones) and how much I was offering.

Guild Banks can only be accessed from capital cities, and then again only from designated NPCs, whereas the regular bank can be accessed from any crafting station, in any town that has them.
They are only bad if you dislike the sad self-parody WoW has become. Which I guess would be the 95% of us.
I really hope so as well. I guess at some point Blizzard realized they were past the point of no return and nobody could take the setting seriously, and decided to just play up the goofiness.
Because science-y teleportation portals, tanks, laser guns and golems are part of the setting, but not baseball. The game has a different flavor for each race, with Asura being sci-fi, Charr being steampunk, and so on. A baseball cap fits none of those settings at all.

Here's another opportunity for everyone to hop on Mumble and get to know their future guildmates before launch. Even if you don't have a microphone, you can still participate since Mumble has a chat window. If you don't want to speak up, that's fine too; talking is not mandatory and you're welcome to just log in and listen (keep the creepy stalker breathing to a minimum though).
The event will begin on Friday, August 25th at Midnight (9PM on the 24th Pacific, 4am GMT) and run for 3 hours. At this point, the game launches and everyone officially has license to freak out. This event is strictly B.Y.O.K (Bring Your Own Kool-Aid). Please note that ArenaNet has stated they may start the game up to 3 hours early, so you might as well get on mumble and spam the Login button with the rest of us.
