Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

Because science-y teleportation portals, tanks, laser guns and golems are part of the setting, but not baseball. The game has a different flavor for each race, with Asura being sci-fi, Charr being steampunk, and so on. A baseball cap fits none of those settings at all.
I see, yeah. Since baseball isn't really present over here I actually didn't even think of associating the cap with the sport, sorry. And again, I see why you don't like the cap, and I'm not sure I like it myself.

Yes, they are, which at the very least limits the places they can appear in. It's still immersion-breaking.
Wait, what? How is the GW1 armor immersion-breaking?

ill be there on mumble but as soon as i can get in i am out boys! ok maybe not but my good friend doesnt know how to play mmos properly yet and i wouldnt want to be teaching him in our mumble server.

i know we can invite people who are not from GAF but are we able to allow them as soon as the guild starts?

I see no reason why not. We don't bite.

Well, based on the membership numbers of gafguild, I dont think everyone will get invited right away. Getting up to the 200 member cap shouldnt be an issue, but getting up to 300 or 400 might take a few days

Of course, not all of those 250ish people might not have the 3 day head start, so maybe that issue will be solved that way since I think we should have the money for the 300 or 400 cap by the 28th

No need to apologize, man! :)

Baseball is much less prominent here on Spain than in the US, of course, but I happen to have a friend who's a huge baseball fan and amateur player.

Still, my issue with the baseball cap still kind of stands even disconnected to baseball itself. It's a very 20-21 century object, and something so "modern", so "current-world", so "familiar", breaks immersion for me in a second.

Sorry, my bad entirely, I misread your post. I was still referring to the cap. :) The armors are perfectly fine as far as I'm concerned, and I'm guessing they'll be regular armor, I don't see why not.

Awwww, poor thing. :( If it's any consolation, mine isn't the most virile voice ever... which might have to do with me being 1.70m tall (5'7").

This is my Guild Wars 1 armor.

Well, the shades are definitely 20th-21st century as well, so its not too surprising that they would include more stuff like that.

Personally, I would never buy it since i really dont think it 'fits' with GW2, but I wouldnt care if someone else was rocking a pair of sunglasses or had a hat on.

I could see why others might though. I can only see them adding more of that stuff to the gem store since it simply makes financial sense for them to put a wide variety of custom appearance crap in there

It's pretty clear shades do fit in the guild wars universe. The asurans crafted spectacles in gw1. The asurans have adapted as an underground race. They have huge eyes accustomed to darkness. Being driven out to the surface of the planet and also great inventors, the asurans naturally create aviators. Big glasses to cover their big eyes and dark tint to protect them from the crazy bright sun, it all works.

What kind of servers are there? My friend was telling me we should join a RP server, so I told him to fuck himself, I am not joining no RP server.

Servers are just servers, there's a couple that have been designated by the community as RP servers though.

I don't really understand RP servers. I know they use "in character" names but how do they talk and interact?

Like how they suspect they would talk and interact if they lived in Guild Wars 2's setting. The "play out" their characters with respect to the game world and its lore.

I've always been mildly interested in RPing. I think it would be a great creative acting/improv exercise. I've never been one to take things super-seriously though. How strict and serious is your average RP community?

My slender, feminine fingers stretched out into the light of dawn, and dew could be seen to be coating the viridian surface along the hand. Eyes drifted to the side and I found my lover awakening - his mouth was parted just enough so the long row of pointed teeth were just barely visible in the same way his breaths were just faintly audible.

My body leaned in toward his own while my sylvari digits spread through his glorious afro like vines appreciating the coarse texture of a forgotten statue. As his asuran eyes began to open, my lips leaned in to steal a fraction of his impossibly wide smile, and I worked to test the ferocity of his pointed teeth with the petaled texture of my curious tongue.

"Love.." I would whisper in a moment thereafter. "This is what love must be."

He shook his head and stared up to me, releasing himself from the embrace while giant eyes looked to my own in condescension and a need to correct my assumptions. I knew. I knew before he even spoke the next three words that this was not to last, and the night had been more of a curious experiment to him than it had been a true attempt to branch out into the undiscovered synergism of our two beings. His response clicked against my lips as he pulled back.

"No, bookah. No."

I rolled on an RP server to "check it out" during Vanilla WoW... it was a unique experience, to say the least. I couldn't handle it for more than 20 or so levels.

Any Australians who have ordered the pre-purchase (3 day headstart incl) package from jbhifi online? I haven't received any emails with a registration code to make my account or anything.

yes, neogaf can bite very hard sometimes lol

so right from the get-go you can invite my friend?

You just have to vouch for your friend. If we are going to invite someone that only you know, its good to know up front that he/she is not a shithead. If you do invite a shithead to the guild, you've got some 'splaining to do.

Unless they increase the cost of increasing the guild size, it should be fine. If the cost is significantly higher, we may have to prioritize GAFers, but not for very long. A day at the most.
