The rumored 1H 2013 Star Wars sets:

Planets Series Three:

Asteroid with TIE Bomber and TIE Pilot

Regular sets:
A-Wing including Admiral Ackbar, Han Solo and an A-Wing Pilot

So bought! If the regular priced ships from 2012 are any indication, that A-Wing should be boss.

I don't do Star Wars...But the SSD is starting to call me. D:

Why the hell arethe Spongebob sets so expensive?

I was looking at the carnival one and it's $39 for a 160 piece set! Craziness.

It's funny you said this because today my wife got this at a yard sale for 50 cents, only missing the figures and the two jelly fishing nets, which aren't a big deal for me.

Here is my storage setup. Warning, long post..

Normal bricks are in a wooden set of drawers that my father made for my son. Bricks in one drawer, smaller plates in another, large plates and roof bricks in the third, and bits&bobs in the top. I stuck pictures to the drawer fronts to help.
UB6xe.jpg

Inside, each drawer is divided by size. I don't have one section per size, they're teamed up with other sizes. So for example the bricks have sections on the left for 1x1&1x2; 1x3&1x4; longer than 1x4. On the right I have 2x2 & 2x3; 2x4; longer than 2x4.
w0zkl.jpg

The other drawers are similarly sectioned - roof bricks I separate by type not size, so 45 degree; 33 degree; inverse etc. the top drawer has minifig accessories and bits and bobs that don't quite fit anywhere else - things like droid legs or spanners. Those go in the sections of an old Lego advent calendar. I cut one up and put the cups into another one, so I can remove them individually as needed.

For other common types of bricks, I have those in a set of drawers to one side, again labelled and divided internally

Lastly for small common pieces I use small plastic tubs with lids on (to avoid accidents with kids around). These are translucent so I haven't bothered with labels. These hold things like 1x1 studs, 1x1 cylinder bricks, 1x1 snot bricks etc.

Rumored 2013 1H Super Hero sets:

Camo Tumbler and The Bat

The Bat boat with white Batman, Mr Freeze and Aquaman

Daily Bugle with JJJ, Spider-Man, The Beetle and Dr Doom in a big plane

Spider-Man Chase with Spider-Man, Venom and Nick Fury in a SHIELD car

*this list does not include retailer exclusives, so Arkham (and whatever set Nova is in) would likely be exclusives*

The rumored 1H 2013 Star Wars sets:

Planets Series Three:
Kamino with Astromech Droid and Jedi Starfighter
Coruscant with Clone Pilot and Republic Assault Striker
Asteroid with TIE Bomber and TIE Pilot

Regular sets:
The Old Republic Battle Pack
Clone Troopers vs Droidekas Battle Pack
A-Wing including Admiral Ackbar, Han Solo and an A-Wing Pilot
AT-RT including Yoda, Clone Trooper and Assassin Droid
Z-95 Headhunter including three Clone Troopers
The Rancor Pit

Remember that 1H traditionally do not include larger sets, so these will all be $60 or less each...

YES, A-wing & Z95 Headhunter! Mine, mine, MINE!

I was torn last night between Fire Brigade at $122 on Amazon Warehouse and leaving the money alone for getting a Nexus 7 in the future. Unfortunately in the end, the realization that my want for the Nexus 7 outweighed the need for Fire Brigade. I'm definitely going to get Pet Shop though since it screams out at me more than Fire Brigade does.

after Fire Brigade, which is likely to go oop?

Grand Emporium for the modular builds I believe? Or least safe, so it's said.

I've just had confirmation that in mid September I'll be spending a week in California, which means a possible visit to the Lego store at Valley Fair in Santa Clara! Now I just to devise a luggage strategy for my inevitable blowout of purchases of Lego that isn't available in New Zealand (which still includes LOTR) and how to get everything home again. Deboxing in the US seems cruel but will definitely make packing easier......

It's probably too early to tell for specials and the like but would it be worth trying to get to TRU while/if I'm near one?

Was bad and bought more series 8 while on lunch. 9 figures, 3 new ones that I successfully felt for. Now all I am missing is the robot, cowgirl, and fairy. Gotta say, feeling for the alien was the easiest one.

What's my best bet for getting the series 1 figs? Looks like they go for 140 on eBay. It's a long shot, but are there any other options?

I don't recall if I read about it in this thread or some other forum, but I hear people have been able to construct the older series in the Build-A-Minifig section of the Lego store. I gather the inventory of the parts varies from store to store, so there might be a bit of luck involved along with trying to build across Lego stores/asking for friend's help.

Edit: This thread over at Eurobricks.

Got the first floor of Grand Emporium done... it's so beautiful. I don't have the motivation to start on the next floor for a while though.

And by "a while" you mean tonight, right? You should finish that bad boy up over the next couple of days. It really comes together once you get all the floors on, and is the best looking of all the modulars in my opinion.

Were those 4 front pillars the cause of your demotivation I wonder.

I was gone long before the pillars, if that means anything. I remember the first night I started it, it took an hour half just to get the initial smooth pieces done. So it was that night and the four or so hours on and off I spent this afternoon, I think. The pillar pieces made a mess out of looking for pieces just due to the number of them.

I take it you mix the bags? Some here swear by it, but I cannot stand it. I just have a separate container for each bag and can sort through them to make builds smoother and clean up easier if I have to stop part way.

I mixed 'em in the beginning which caused the initial hour half hell that night. Then after about 20 minutes in this afternoon, I couldn't bother so I started picking out similar pieces and sorting them that way. This afternoon would've been terrible if I'd kept digging in the box I was using as a container. Mixing the bags has this nostalgia in it mixed with a lot of agony due to never being able to find the 20 or so small pieces needed at the time. These sets fall under the "Never Again" category for mixing bags.

I know what I'm going to do with the number 2 bags.
By using a separate pile or container for each bag, you keep things kinda sorted, but still makes you dig a bit through to find pieces. I find it the best of both worlds. Sorting pieces before building is cool, but time consuming. But the mixing just seems to make building frustrating.

I didn't want to mix everything so I bought these today afternoon for my first big build. $7 each at Sears. Will start building tomorrow. The compartments have dividers which can be relocated/removed to resize the bins. I live in an apartment, so this will also let me put things aside with ease if I ever need to take a break during the build.

My first ever big build. My childhood Lego sets were all < 500 pieces.

I use a bunch of the plastic food containers from target. The ones that are about 5x5x1. Small enough to have a bunch in a table and pick up easily, and still hold a whole bag of pieces. And shallow enough to easily sift through for smaller bricks. And I can stack them up and put them on a shelf when done building for the nite and they take up little space.

Those containers you have are similar for my long term sorting. I use the Stanley Sortmaster cases like that with adjustable compartments.

I think I'll try out the pile per bag route with the "2's". I love having to find it but I hate the times having to go find that 1x1 smooth piece ten to twenty times over.

The unfortunate part is that I lack space AND containers so I either have to finish it in one go or dump all the separate piles into one container again after if I need to clear out. I can't justify taking up space from the main areas where there actually is room because the pieces would disappear so quickly from accidents over time. I used my bed as a surface this afternoon. Apartments, gotta love em.

Just go to target or the grocery store and get a pack of plastic food containers. A pack of five or so is only a couple of bucks and makes life simpler when building. Living in an apartment here, and those things have made huge builds so much easier.

All you ever need for having a quickly organized and easier build for big sets. Just dump a bag in each one and done.

Point taken. I was supposed to say that I'm lacking space and containers if I were to build prior to buying some.

This set is awesome - pay attention to everything, though! I had to rebuild it cuz the gears didn't line up, haha

I had to rebuild cause I mistaken some grays with blacks & only realized when I finally finished the chassis.

In the end I was only missing one black 5 hole beam that I replaced with my spare technic pieces from old sets.

Anybody interested in an opened QAR and Cabin Set used? I'm looking to offload a few sets and wanted to start with this one. How's $70 shipped sound? I figured more interested parties here would be present than the BST thread.

I took a look at the 8070 part list and realized that I don't need to purchase that set. I have nearly every piece except for the tires.

I like that way. Starts off slow, nbut as you progress you start building a mental picture of which tub has which pieces, and you speed up. The bags are usually sorted in some way by Lego, but not how you'd sort yourself. Eg they have 1x2 and 1x4 black in the same bag because they are noticably different length, but they put 1x3 black in another bag, and also dark grey.

For building space I was using the dining table but that was forcing me to finish builds when I wanted to take my time. So I bought a folding picnic table which now lives in the spare room and can be tucked out of the way when I'm not building.

If we're doing sales, anyone in the uk looking for a sopwith camel (built once but otherwise mint), or an 8275 technic bulldozer (used), let me know

Well, I finally finished putting together Fire Brigade at around 4 this morning. I should've stopped since I had to be at work for 9:30, but once I start building I need to finish. What an amazing set. The brick work (no pun intended), and the little details like helmet hooks, the ping pong table, and the kitchen appliances are awesome. The finished set as well looks amazing. I'm definitely sold on collecting the modulars now, they are just great display pieces and fun to build!

The set was missing a black 1x8 smooth flat piece, which fortunately doesn't really hinder the build too much, but it will bother me until I can get it. Does LEGO provide replacements for missing pieces, or should I just bricklink it?
