Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

I've been using Microsoft Intellimouse Optical for ages. I really don't feel like I need more than the two extra side buttons on the left and right (and no worries about fat fingering with my thumb, which I feel is the least dexterous).

I have no trouble binding everything to the keyboard, and near the WASD homepoint. Coming from playing a Warlock in WoW, GW2 was a breeze to bind.
The quality of the plastic on that thing (I used to have one too) means if you're still using one, that there's no doubt in my mind that it's brown by now.

Strongly considering giving into the hype. Is elementalist any fun?

Every profession is fun, but the Elementalist is pretty slick. It's probably just me, but I actually liked going dual daggers and attacking people at melee range with a lightning whip or air Chakrams.

It's the master profession. So yes. Made for royalty and the bravest creatures. Do not let the proletariat and less initiated drag you down into the doldrums of the lesser professions. They smell.

Worming my way out of responsibilities for next weekend is really becoming a lot of work. I'm building quite the web of lies to allow me to play GW2 for the entirety of my waking hours.

That's what I'm doing. My first two characters will both be using daggers

Ok, that's it, I'm serious this time... got to 23/30 on HoM, that's it - I'm done, no more! Finito! I got my damn cloud sword, hanging up the old spirit spammer wraps.

I'm actually going in with that as my main! I don't know what it is but i love close range spell casting. All of the attacks just looked really awesome.

Is there world pvp in the game, where I can just walk up to someone and try to kill in a questing zone? Or is it restricted to structure/WvWvW?

I enjoy staff, myself. Not so much pew pew as daggers but the boons and soft control are awesome support for a group.

Yay, finished the Wayfarer quests and got my Tormented Weapon for HoM. Only 3 points to go for 30/50.
Ah you have to finish all 4 to get the weapon? I thought you got one for each quest item... Guess there is no reason to rush and finish Proph and eotn then, was hoping to finish those two but there's no way I'll have the energy to get through NF and Nightfall before the 30th.

So I just noticed that this game is coming out in a few days and in all honesty I really don't know shit about it but I'd like to, I've always enjoyed the idea behind an MMORPG but many games fail to deliver.

I'd like to know what are the things GW2 does great and what things it does bad, what are the pros and cons to this game? Knowing that the game comes out so soon made me kinda want to buy it but I thought I'd ask these things to you guys.

Also I used to love WoW and I played it pretty much constantly for about 5 years until last year since with Cataclysm everything became so repetitive and boring that it went downhill, I keep hearing that GW2 is the only game that comes really close to WoW in terms of polish and great mechanics.

GW2 works great as an MMO which encourages playing with other people above all else. It's built so that individual skill and accomplishments are rewarded in a way that promotes teamwork and working with others. It's socially the most on point (with respect to its genre) MMO I've ever played.

It doesn't give great blowjobs, however.

Best thing you can do is remove the expectations that WoW has given you and read this. It'll give you the best info. Some highlights, though, are that the game offers a very dynamic world, the end of class roles (ie, the trinity), action oriented combat, and massive server vs server PvP

Preorder cancelled.

I've always been intrigued by guild wars for some reason, but never got around to playing it. I'm looking for an mmo to play again (I stopped a few years back because I didn't have the time to dedicate myself to online rpgs), so I was wondering if this will be a good one to start with. My mmorpg experience mostly consisted of ragnarok and trickster online way back (and a bit of maple story), so yeah I'm not sure what to expect out of a full 3d mmo.

This is a great MMO to start with. Specifically cause there's no monthly fee's so a large barrier of entry is eliminated right there. If you're at all interested in MMOs, I'd plop down $60 to try this game out at somepoint. You should be able to get by fine without MMO experience, but the learning curve will be a bit larger and longer.

If youre looking for an MMO that you can play when you want to, not dedicate a whole lot of time to, and still have fun, then this is the MMO for you

Pretty much all you need to know (and more)

Read that to get up to speed.

I don't know how you guys can use those mice with a hundred buttons on it. I would ways be accidentally hitting stuff. Though I am thinking of investing in a new mouse with maybe one or two. I'm not really accustomed to having so many buttons to use in a fight.

Good thing the OT is going up Tuesday, i get the feeling this thread (and the OT once its up) are really going to start blowing up in these next few days.
