All the stress tests in the world cannot prepare Arenanet for what is to come.
And that is why it was a good idea to split the launch in 3 different waves!

It would be interesting to see the percentages on that. Of course, even if most of the peope have the 3 day head start, I dont think ALL of those people will sign in at midnight pacific. Most? Maybe, but im sure a good number will simply log in in the early morning

I do think the overflow is going to greatly alleviate some of it though.
They're still definitely fucked on day one, that's for sure.
Plus who knows when the servers will actually go live between 9 and 12; hopefully the "silent launch" will help prevent a server heart attack.

1) 3 day head start
2) 1 day head start
3) launch day
For me. 3 day head start IS launch. lol.

Apparently during the beta a lot of graphical processing was being done on the CPU. I'm guessing that was fixed?
Not a bad idea and I considered it, but I wasn't sure exactly what I should make the macro do. God knows, they'll change the launcher at the last moment or something and cause everything to screw up when I try.
I know for a fact, that since character names are reserved for 24 hours after you delete them, the second I log in I'm going to mash whatever options are under my cursor until I can get to name selection. Then once the character is made, I'll delete it, and take my time remaking the character I want with that name.
I'm gonna start thinking of the best way to prep my macro now. If you have some good ideas, let me know

I think that is what you do. I remember it asking me for a legitimate code and creating a user name for the game.
Yeah i dont get it. everyone that currently has bought it can log on 3 days ahead unless they went physical release. Majority will log day 1.

Physical release also had some 3 day head start copies. My local gamestop ran out of the 3 day headstarts but it was still offering 1 day head starts about 2 weeks ago.
I'm perturbed by the fact that GameFly doesn't make it explicitly clear where you're supposed to register the key. That's part of their job. Ah well.
I'm thinking about getting a Razer Hex to replace my Death Adder. The 6 buttons on the side seem like it would be a huge help.

Using a Razer Naga myself and I'm not the biggest fan of it. While its nice to have all the extra buttons, the 1-3 is a bit out of reach and the middle click on the wheel tends to open 3 tabs at a time :/ I've been looking at Logitech's MMO mouse and that'd be the one I'd go for if I had money for one now
