Let's chat about this girl I met this weekend

Why do people lie on the internet? Well according to Raw Nuts this guy actually followed the girl in question to another state to try and fulfill his fantasy. Since he clearly hasn't and never will, he acts out a version of his story on the internet where he does get the girl and is a winner in life. It's a sort of coping.

What's interesting is Houston has no issue meeting up with internet strangers from gaf but gets shook from a few first names being posted here.

Anyway, should serve as a lesson that it's not worth putting too much faith in anything on the internet. People, especially here on gaf, lie up and down because hey, why not.

When you have a simple life, some people just want some "excitement". They want to seem "exciting" to others. I don't know why they would lie about shit like this. There is no anonymity on the internet unless you're very slick about it. Trying to seem special to people online seems the same way as that kid in high school who would make shit up about how cool he is or how ridiculously awesome his life is... until of course someone calls him out on his bullshit.

Let this be a lesson: live your life and enjoy it to your fullest potential and try not to be who you are not, unless you're a joke character.
 
Well look at the way his first post begins after being called out.. "hey guys I was just in a bunch of meetings at work".. he's trying to assign himself worth by telling us, in his eyes nonchalantly, that he's got a job and is a busy, important guy and now he finally has time to address this thread. He repeats later that he "stayed late after work" to make sure people laughing at him in this thread at least know he's successful in other areas and can shrug off this type of defeat. That way anyone here unemployed calling him a loser is forced to self-reflect because he, according to him, is still better in other areas than them. It's all quite interesting!
 
Yeah, I must admit, "I've been in meetings all day" struck me as a little bit odd. I can't imagine a busy businessman, having meetings all day, would be the type of guy to make up lame stories about sleeping with a girl. It just doesn't fit. It smacks of, "I'm honestly not a sad act guys, I've got a really busy, activity filled life!"

I mean, he might, maybe he's a high flying exec, jetting all over the world, but you all heard the story about the boy who cried wolf, right?

That JBaird thread was great because of how long it dragged out. This was a 'BOOM! Headshot!' kind of thread. Still awesome to read.

And I second Sunhi as Neogaf GOAT. You always hope that he shows up with a classic. If he does, you know it will be gold and yet it ALWAYS manages to exceed expectations.

Wow, if you truly did know the people involved I think this thread might have transcended the internet. Honestly, just wow, this thread has been magnificent. RawNutz, that was absolutely incredibly well done. I highly advise that you still stick around on NeoGAF, the quality of threads in most instances is very high and if you have any interest in video games it will be even better due to the gaming side (that's not to state that you must be interested in games, the off topic section is more than worth staying on the website for).

Houston, I know other people have already asked this and it has been answered to some extent by others but I'm still curious, why did you actually lie about the situation what seems to be quite a lot? In general, posters on NeoGAF seem to strive to be helpful and I'm sure most people wouldn't have had a problem if you just came out and told the truth in the first place.

And even though the thread is no longer about JB, has there been anymore developments on your story? What did you decide to do since the most recent update? Just saw your post in Lionel Mandrake's most recent one as of this edit (post 748) and I just want to say that it's good to hear it's working out positively! Be sure to keep us updated, even if it is being overshadowed.

EDIT: Oh and excellent work Sunhi as always.
 
These epic meltdowns are very much a NeoGAF thing and they mostly seem to revolve around boys telling lies about the women they've been with. Fools have been totally busted trying to pass off models as women they're dating and other such nonsense.

This phenomena may be as simple to explain as insecure video game nerds or perhaps something more complex, but regardless by now everyone should know that it will not end well if you try. Pulling anything on a huge crowd of people who use the Internet as well as this group does is risky. Plain and simple.

And so now Houston 3000 has been exposed as a chumpard of the highest order. Chump Magnus the King of Chumps. Please everyone learn from his grevious, devestating, and utterly humiliating mistakes.

Or don't because man is it ever entertaining!
 
The question that still lingers is despite being publicly disgraced, will Houston 3000 still show up to this Saturday's NYC GAF meet up? We might have the exclusive interview with the man himself and get the dirt from him (with his permission to talk about it here, otherwise it will only be known to the people who went).

I'm pleasantly surprised that the thread's original plot is going strong, so while the meta-topic derailed things, JB's plot thickens, so the thread is slowly getting back on topic. Glad to see things are going well for you JB.
