Fighting Games Weekly | August 20-26

You would hope the older players are more mature.

Like for example guys like Watson, Valle, Choi, and the Cannons are now stopping the drama instead of pushing for it. Remember the SBO qualifier pop off from Fanatiq on Infrit? It was Watson who told Fanatiq to knock it off. The old Watson would of pushed Fanatiq to go into full pop off mode.

That's understandable.

Well I hope you guys have had a good night stream monstering. Over at the stream for the Asia quals for the SF 25th Ann. Tournament we've had a frustrating time. They keep taking long breaks and played most matches off stream. We didn't even get to see Poongko and Infiltration play once on stream in either SFxT or SF4 when they were eliminating guys until top 4. Hopefully they'll actually show every match in top 4. But stay up for that if you like SF or want something else to watch for a good while.

Damn that sucks. What are the results so far?

idk i think it's different when people say "MORRIGAN IS CHEAP" rather than "DON'T PLAY OUR GAME"
They are not saying don't play our game, they are trying to say don't play our game half ass.

It's basicly them saying, "Don't let this well known mvc3 player just jump into our game and win making it look like something you don't need to spend effort to learn, beat him and show him the game is deeper than that"

For SF4, winners is Infiltration vs Poongko and losers is Gamerbee vs Gackt. In SFxT, winners is Infiltration vs Poongko, losers is....actually I don't know. But they haven't played HDR and 3rd Strike yet so check out 1/3 of that if you're interested.

I never had that experience. But then again, I mained Tager during my brief time playing BlazBlue. The low tier players tend to be friendly in any community. They're so lonely...

This post is so true that thinking about it hurts a little.

That sounds pretty bad; I've seen most of the other qualifiers and they were well managed, but it sounds like they're dropping the ball over at the Asia quals. Thanks for the heads up, though.

I honestly respect that sentiment but it's really not coming across that way I'm afraid.

I want SKD to WIN. Lets go!

I think to turn it around, Chris G was very vocal that Elizabeth v Mitsuru was unfair because she has no options and it wanted to make him stop playing the game.

Supporters of the game/community obviously will not like such talk. It was pointed out that he just didn't know the match up.

So when he got bodied by Kanji, a match up that is well in his favor, it kind of validates that point of view, hence I presume, the pop offs.

Hopefully somebody is offering him help to understand the match-ups better so he can improve. If not, he probably has a point about how he is being treated.

Either way,world keeps spinning.

I think without actually being there, it is hard to judge how much of it was the community being hard on Chris and how much of it was Chris just being salty. I think all we have is that one twitter post from him.

I have no problem with them going in on him, it's either he ignores them get in the lab comeback beat them and get the respect or he packs it up.

Don't play the game half assed? He's gotta prioritize how he spends his time; so if he chooses a game other than P4A, he just shouldn't play that game? How does that make sense?

edit: eh, nevermind. there's not actually an argument here.

street fighter is esports now

and Jiyuna is 100% correct
Yup. Everyone has a main game (or 2) and then some other games they play on the side. You just can't be the best at everything, simply because there are only so many hours in the day. This whole "oh, we don't want ChrisG around because he's not playing full time" thing is BS. He's one of the most well known Marvel players in the country- you should be encouraging him because he'll likely bring fresh eyeballs to the game.
