Do you have that set yet? If not, GET IT! Fantastic set, and very widely loved on here. A fun build, and it looks fantastic once done.

I have the old millennium falcon, and really not a fan of how the top fans out on the new one. Also really not a big fan of the playsets, I like the more display stuff like planes and modules.

Hmmm. Extra ghost, zombie, and Uruk Hai. Must look for these.

The new one is a fantastic display piece when done though. More show off than play in my book. And the fan out of the top fins is only if you want to, but the way it folds together when closed looks so much better than all the other versions out there (except for the UCS version of course.)

Celebration VI was a bust for seeing the upcoming 2013 SW sets, but the LEGO panel today confirmed the following:

Buildable galaxy series 3:
Kamino w/ R4-P17 droid and Jedi Starfighter
Coruscant w/ Clone Pilot and Republic Assault Striker
Asteroid Filed w/ Tie Bomber and Tie Pilot

Regular Sets:
The Old Republic Battle Pack (2 Sith Troopers + 2 Clones)
Clone Troopers vs Droidekas Battle Pack (sniper droideka)
A-wing w/ Ackbar, Han and A-wing pilot
AT-RT w/ Yoda, Clone Trooper and Assassin Droid
Z-95 Headhunter w/ 2 Clone Troopers, general Krell
The Rancor Pit (as revealed at SDCC)

Other notes:
New Visual Dictionary in 2014 w/ new Mini fig exclusive
4th Star Wars Lego game in the works already

Set 10229, Winter Village Cottage is now up on the LEGO S@H site. It will be available October 1st for $99.99USD.

Between that and the UCS B-wing, October 1st is going to be an expensive day for me.

Oh man, I wish these polybags were somehow available here in the Netherlands. I've seen that ghost polybag show up though on european sellers on bricklink. I want to build an army of zombies and Uruk-hai.

Almost done sorting all my disassembled sets for the year, including taking apart the Architecture sets I have. Will disassemble the LOTR stuff soon as well. I am running out of space in the bins. That means I must finish the brewery soon and make another building to make space in storage.

I am on the fence about Haunted House now. Order ASAP, or wait until Oct for possible double VIP?

And in the meantime, disassemble Death Star and do a time lapse vid of the build. Of course, that sounds like the perfect thing to do when I take a week off at the end of October.

The smart thing is to wait for possible double VIP. I know I would. :P

I'm getting close to being done with bags 1 of box 1 in my SSD build. This is a VERY excellent build so far. The only thing I don't like is finding space to build AND have the instructions open. Seriously, fricken massive.

Problem with the Death Star as well. Sure, the set did not have the same footprint as the SSD (which escalates to HUGE very quickly based on the instructions.), but the instructions are so huge it takes so much space. I wanted to have it open and see two pages at once, but I didn't have enough room for that where I was building. Death Star on the table, instruction ream of paper on the couch.

Glad you are enjoying it so far. And thanks for the vote for waiting a month for double VIP. Perhaps at that point I will have the cash to buy Haunted House and not have to use what little I have left on my credit card.

Flipping the entire ship over while you're building it is fun. :P

And it's funny...I want to turn on Star Wars while building this ship. <3 Amazing.

Watched the real trilogy while I built the Imperial Shuttle earlier this year. Made it so much cooler.

And I know you are down on the Death Star due to the play set nature of it, but if you really like the SSD, I highly recommend the Imperial Shuttle. Very awesome build, and an amazing display piece. It fools nearly everyone who visits. They don't believe it it Lego until they get really close to it. And all the gear work inside of it to make the wings work would be right up your alley. If you don't splurge on the Death Star, the Shuttle is cheaper and more in line with your tastes. And it is oh so sexy.

If I can get a deal on a Death Star, I may pick it up because (if nothing else), I'll be able to resell it for a stupid profit years down the line. It looks like a REALLY glorified playset, but I imagine there's a LOT more to it than I realize.

You got some of the modulars right? If so, you know those cool moments while building one where some neat little detail comes in, like the ping pong table in Fire Brigade? Now multiply that by about ten or so times and that describes the little details in the Death Star. It is all about the discovery of building it and recreating iconic scenes from the films.

Edit: i would love to see work in progress shots of your SSD build. Pretty please? We need someone else on here pimping the set and making my wait until next year for affording it that much harder.

mrklaw in this thread was selling one for about $250 shipped which is an excellent price for the bulldozer. (It might be even cheaper if you are in Europe). Send him a PM.

Sold, sorry. I'm not sure I'd pay 5-600 for it. It's a great set and a fun build, but buy an 8043 excavator and bricklink the rest of the pieces and you'd probably save a fortune. (guessing on the 8043, just feels like it has quite a few similar pieces, plus all the RC stuff)

Rebrickable! That's the best way to minimize necessary purchases.

I have looked at the Death Star and it seems more like a play set. It just does not interest me at all. I don't play with the lego anymore. I just enjoy building them and displaying them. I agree the Imperial Shuttle will be the next Star Wars purchase and build for me.

It is such a cool build. And the manual is epic. Enjoy it bro.

I may just have to get the Haunted House as soon as it comes out - and then in October try to pick up more modulars, the space shuttle, the VW Camper Van, and possibly the winter village set. But I dont think I can hold off on the haunted house.

Didn't see any of the new polybags at Toys r Us or the Toys r Us express. Walked out with 13 minifig bags from 6 7 and 8, just randomly grabbed some, and the small Anakin podracer to go next to Sebulba's. Got the wife the log cabin set, which she is building now.

No poly bags for me, either. They just had the one from El Señor de los Anillos, and I don't really see the appeal of it since I already have Gandalf Arrives.

I never see many polybags up in Canada. The only one I've actually come across in the last year is Emma skateboarding (with a soda and piece of sidewalk) from the Friends line.

That and an old podracer at Toys R Us. But nothing actually good (I bought Emma though).

Don't know if this is allowed, but I thought I'd try to give back a bit to this thread by offering some sets that I got on clearance to other Gaffers at cost before I return them to the store. Remember this is the same price I paid plus 2% for paypal. Buyer will have to pay for shipping. I can take them out of the boxes to make shipping cheaper if it helps some folks.

The Toys r Us was actually completely out of the LotR Frodo one, which I got there last week. Toys r Us Express was having the buy a 20 or 25$ set and get the Frodo bag for free though. I would have done that, but I went there first and wasn't sure what Id be buying.

Does lego still do the huge themes they used to? I've been so out of the loop for like years...I remember how awesome Ice Planet, M-Tron, Space Police and the Aquanauts/Sharks/Raiders were.

Yes. The most popular is Ninjago. But the coolest (at least to me) is the Monster Fighters series.

Man, just connected one of the pieces that runs the entire length of the SSD (on a diag). What a fricken ingenious design. A+ LEGO designer.

The circle is now complete.

EDIT: Finished disassembling Attack at Weathertop and Mines of Moria and sorting it into my storage bins. I am now out of space for many bricks, and I still have Helm's Deep and Uruk Hai Army to take down. Guess that means I should start building something to make more room in the storage bins. :)

The wife picked up a small Star Wars LEGO set at a yard sale today for $2.50 in the box unopened and wow I am impressed!! The details and even being such a small build I love it. Must get more!

Snow troopers are best troopers. Get the rebel pack as well. They get a vehicle. :)

Yeah I know for sure I want the falcon and the TIE fighter but now I think I need some of the other sets as well.

Edit: is the rebel pack you're referring to 8083? It's the other one pictured on the back of the box.

Yeah. Cool little pack. Build is better, but the figures are not as awesome, but they are still cool. I need more Snow Troopers.

Promised some pics, Kreo-bombzadroppin!!

and just in case you all are hatin' on the Kreo's i'm presenting them with a little tongue in cheek.

Frodo: "It's great they let Michael Bay direct Lord of The Rings. Now we are going to Mordor in Prime style!

iMuZX.jpg

Frodo: "Oh my god, my hair looks this bad?! Why didn't anyone tell me?!"

6XhrO.jpg

Samwise: "*hiccup* holy shit, that flask the elf chick gave me is full of vodka!"

T8CKu.jpg

Gollum: "Get back here with my ring you little shits! *gollumcoughgollum* It's the only thing that witch left me in the divorce besides this stupid fish!"

yndLp.jpg

Frodo: "Lets get the hell out of here Sam!"

Samwise: "Hey, what happened to that stupid rolling car thing *hiccup* Screw it, bikes are way more awesome lets burn rubber Mr. Frohoe!! *hiccup*"

I still got a Kreo Megatron and the Bumblebee set to put together. The Kreons are awesome but I might hold off on anymore, maybe Prowl. I got Gandalf Arrives should be here monday. I notice they have Battle of Helms deep on sale at Amazon for $110 and Mines of Moria for $66. I need to get a new laptop for school monday but i'm strongly considering putting on hold getting a 3DS Xl to get one or both of those sets. If I get one it will be Helms Deep but I really want to get that add on pack with it. I'm sure everyone in this thread will tell me to go for it. If I do get Helms Deep maybe I will Bayformer it up into Helm Maximus.

Made a little radar bunker with the Hoth Echo Base and used other parts to work on my open air Imperial walker a bit more.

The walker came out of this when it was just a tank made out of the Propeller Adventure set and the Snow Trooper battle pack. Added legs from a Bionicle set.

That Hoth bunker looks worlds better than the Echo Base set it spawned from.

Indeed. Great work Parrotbreak.

And all the LOTR sets (save Shelob. She stays together) are dismantled. The area around my television looks rather bare. Time to start on another building using mainly LOTR stuff. I stopped on the brewery. Gotta get my brain back into that one.
