same background, same pose, different car.. am I the only one getting bored of those? It doesn't tell me much about the game which is the biggest unknown right now, or how will it work with my wheel.

Night shots would be nice, as well as different weather conditions. Some more dirt roads maybe, completely off road in the grass, and hell, snow ;P

Or sinking into a lake.

Or...

These shots are getting really boring. What ever happened to action shots during an actual race? I don't want to shit all over the game but come on, they aren't even trying to make these look good.

Didn't you hear? Night and weather have been shit-canned because they both fucked up the piss filter.

Everytime I see this thread bumped I always assume it just means more cars have been announced and I'm proven right every time. Microsoft somewhere got the idea that cars are all people care about I guess. Its definitely frustrating.

EDIT: Ok, acheivement list is new. Dont care about them but it usually hints at stuff in the game.

This game was never 60 fps. It's a spin-off by a different developer. Think of Test Drive Unlimited.

aah oke thanks for sharing the info.
I though it would be 60fps and more a colaberation between Playground and Turn10 using forza 4 engine and optimize it so new features are possible.

Still the game looks bonkers and from the couple times i visited this thread it sounds like a openworld pgr .

keep in mind this is free roaming open world, has a day/night cycle with unified lighting, dynamic weather and possibly a higher number of cars onscreen at once.

Looks good, but i recently went back to NFS Hot Pursuit and while i don't care about the game, man, Turn 10 (and Playground games) could/should learn A LOT from the artists who did the scenery; Criterion absolutely nailed realistic environments, color palette etc. Horizon needs much more variety than what we've seen so far, and a lot less 'orange'.

This screen has piss filter :)
but those trees on the right look fantastic

Hopefully we get a matte paint option for all cars this time. Wait, are cars customizable in horizon? I feel so out of the loop.

before that, they should get matte paint to look right / good (which it didn't in previous forzas)

Without a doubt NFS: Hot Pursuit is the best looking open world racer out there. Free roaming through day/night cycles, thunderstorms and rain just make it that much better.

true.
We haven't seen what rain looks like in Horizon yet, have we ?
Do not want rain if they can't get the road to look wet by having it reflect lights+cars+environment like it did in pgr4 and nfs. :|

I dont think the owner of this car would be going to a Dub Step music festival.

More likely going out to the vineyard for a wine tasting, and having an affair with his secretary.

of course he wouldnt, dub step festivals are for civic owners, god i hate the direction the series has gone in

At the end of the day its an open world Forza, and it should be better than Test Drive Unlimited, which would automatically make it one of the better open world racers out there.

*crosses fingers*

Really? I am quite shocked, I would have really never guessed from your constant whining. So kind of you to clear that up for us.

That being said, I do feel like I am one of the few people who are excited about this. All I want is an open world game with Forza graphics/physics and that is what I am getting. Yeah, I am not a huge fan of the whole Horizon Festival thing, but that is pretty in-line with how current drift/show/etc stuff is set up now. Honestly, as long as I can upgrade the cars and then scream them down open/dirt roads, I am happy.

I guess I am just easy to please.

Im with you BRO!

We should all chip in and by our "friend" an og xbox so he can play his Forza 1 and PGR2 all day long.

I still think it'll be fun, like you guys said, A Forza TDU. Plus the racing games releasing on console this fall are slim so there you go.

I'm just hoping it's not like Christian in Dirt 3. Mucho mucho gnarly moves Amigobro Compadre. Put that shit on YOUTUBE dude!

It is clear that this is Forza 5 with a different name to fool the customers into thinking that it's a different kind of game. Turn 10 should be ashamed for making this kind of trash.

its not even this, every forza seems less focused on making the racing better, its more about gimmicks to get arcade kids playing

I feel the same way - I wonder if am being too easy to please too, but in this case, all the game needs to do is contain cars (with Forza physics) and a lot of roads and I'll be happy.

But isn't everyone who's expecting 'Forza physics' going to be disappointed? I thought this had powerslidey drift physics a la Most Wanted..?

I've never seen a straightforward answer on this. Its Forza physics, but adjusted. Does that mean the adjustments can be disabled like other assists? How adjusted are we talking about here?

I'm honestly more worried about Forza AI than physics though, truth be told. I mean, as long as the physics aren't fully arcade I'll probably be satisfied, but if I have to race that AI in order to unlock cars I may end up disappointed unless they made some heavy tweaks in Horizon.

The Achievement names are just horrible.. oh well. The cars and physics are great (I got to try the game though without vibration) but more than the cars I want to see unique tracks from Playground games. Curvy roads like Fujimi Kaido or beautiful technical tracks laid out on spectacular environments etc..

All we've seen so far are bland roads/tracks. Hope they reveal something to highlight unique roads/sections.

I'm in the absolute minority who actually enjoyed NFS Pro Street for what it is. Horizon is giving me the same vibe so I'm looking forward to it.

The cultural atmosphere I've been longing for in Forza seems to be somewhat projected in Horizon. Hopefully, this also means that FM5 will finally include that race day feel that every Tom, Dick and Harry has been screaming for what seems like forever..

Having said all that, enough with the pussyfooting around Turn 10 and give us some shit to get really excited about already ffs!

yeah I don't expect this game to have Forza driving in open roads... and that they have shown so little video is kinda worrysome imo.. but I have always been on the fence about this title from the announcement.

You got to try the game?
When? Where?
More opinions/impressions please!

It's nothing like 'Forza 5' it's not even made by Turn 10. They aren't trying to fool anyone into thinking it's a 'different kind of game' because it is a different kind of game.

Im looking forward to the game, just hoping it's not too 'dude ish' and in yer face Dirt kinda way.

Also, has weather definitely been confirmed as I've not seen any official conformation or pics?

I think he was being sarcastic. lol

Doh, yes, totally understandable then, thanks for pointing it out. Sorry Pepto..

After Forza 1 it all went to shit and it was the best game in the world with better tracks/night/full sim etc etc etc etc etc etc etc Forza is just full arcade game now and I don't troll.

As for weather, i think it's been confirmed, some interview even claimed rain will affect dirt roads turning them into mud.
I don't think we've seen anything about weather though.

well, that's not far from reality though : \

Was he?

Ha.

Yeah I remember reading about the interview but remember the IGN night confirmation for 4 also. I was expecting pics of all the rain effected dirt shortly after the information came. I'm not confident about weather effects until it comes from PG or a screenshots released :)

Yes, Forza is ruined, now you can go away to in search for other games. Seriously, go away, this game is not for you and its not getting any better (from your POV), plus no one here appreciate your comments.

True, don't get me wrong, the focus (IMO) should be on more tracks to race the millions of cars we've got. But, I'm happy with the direction previous Forzas have taken. I would rather the buttery smooth FPS over night/weather effects any day though, which just doesn't seem possible with 360 and 60FPS. I don't want to stray too far off topic and over old ground but on the other hand, as for an open world 'spin off game' I'll take the drop in performance for a bit more fun and atmosphere on the roads (which previous iterations are lacking somewhat).

Hey, at least we got the Hot Air Ballons everyone wanted? Ha

He's not going anywhere apparently, don't worry about it though, everyone's pawned him off as your 'friend' now. Ha
