Xbox Live Fall 2012 Dashboard Public Beta - Signup Now

Ok..guess i'll have to wait a couple of days to get an update. Since the only thing I downloaded was just a registration form which is retarded. So I registered to register into the beta the first time.
 
The My Games list needs to show achievements scores again.

It would be nice to show YOUR rating too, if you've given one.

Oh and the stars could be colored so you can tell if they're filled in or not.

The app you downloaded registered your console into the beta, which in previous years you had to do when you initially signed up, which was a bit more complicated. You'll get the actual update fairly soon though, most likely in less than 24 hours.
 
My 360 takes forever to boot up ever since I got the beta dashboard. It seems that it only affects a few people since there are only a few posts about it on the beta xbox forums. I searched in the wrong forum; there are a decent number of people who are affected, so hopefully it's something that will be fixed soon.

Bootup seems the same, and the general dash seems snappier (although I could just be making things up). When you say forever...what numbers are we talking about?
 
Because I'm on the beta, I no longer get the adds for cheap 1€ month of gold, I've been using those for the last 2 years. Damn.
When is the update for everyone not in the beta?

Usual time frame is Fall. Which can be anywhere within that period of time. They seem to have started the open beta earlier than usual this time though so maybe sooner rather than later this time around?

Personalized dashboard recommendations?

Enhanced category search and discovery features?

Is there anything else other than that and IE?

Pulling that stuff from the network takes a lot of time, relatively speaking. I would imagine they removed that to speed things up, especially for the pack rats that have 100 items on their game list.
 
So have anyone managed to get the "play to" feature to work? When I try to stream video files from WMP 12 on my Windows 7 PC, I just get a "failed to retrieve media information" error message, even though I can easily play it locally on my PC. I thought WMP would automagically transcode the file on the fly?

Working for me. Though the transcode on 1080p MKVs is shit. WMC doesn't transcode, streams it full quality.
 
Hey, has anyone gotten the Security prompt when trying to sign in more than once? I got it a couple weeks back and I set up the text thing, but now I'm getting prompted for it again, and when I tried it again it said the phone # was already set up, so I just had to back out completely.

I have 100 items on my games list and there weren't any speed issues on the previous dashboard.

Also, how long could it take? That same information shows up quickly on the guide menu.

Go to the website they point you to at the end. account.live.com/p and confirm it. I had to do the same thing when I set up Windows 8
 
Is there any way to change the keyboard back to abc? I really hate how the new dashboard uses qwerty. I liked having 4 rows of letters and the numbers on the side better.
 
Is the market place down for anyone too?

edit; also i have just been prompted for a fairly large ie update. Can't really see any changes except gorillavid no longer rices me to an advert. Instead it does nothing. It's unresponsive.
 
For anyone having issues with the dash running slow as I did just back up all your save files from the 360 and reformat your HDD. My 360 runs very smooth now and I showed my friend and he did it as well. I hope this helps anyone here with a slow loading dashes as it did me.
 
I haven't checked today, but on Sat eve I fired up IE to show a friend and no matter what I did or what page it was on the screen was zoomed in as much as it could unless I held down the L trigger.

has anyone else experienced that?

Fixes that I've noticed so far:
1. Website's icon updated and is now hi-res.
2. Pinned sites cover updated.
3. Pressing A on pinned items now launches them instead of taking you to the details page.
4. Duplicate pinned items/unremovable pinned items fixed.
5. The white highlight on the tiles is more subtle, quite Metro-like now thankfully.
6. The sorting option button has now white background.
7. The whole Dashboard seems generally a bit faster.
8. Gamerscore and no. of achievements has been added back under games in My Games.
9. New control layout for IE.

Edit: these are user-noted changes. Not an official changelist.

Excellent. Having them pinned only to get to the details page defeated the purpose.

I hope that is real, because that list looks great! Loving this beta.
 
nice update... now i have 2 broken pinned items that i just can't remove
