You:
Also you:
I told you that this happens with all platforms, and I even gave examples, but you dismissed that to crap on Microsoft/Xbox. Sony had backwards compatibility for PlayStation 1 games with the PlayStation 2, and for PlayStation 4 games with the PlayStation 5. I'm not including the PlayStation 3 as a backwards compatibility machine since that was only available for select consoles and then pulled from the lineup entirely. The majority of PlayStation titles cannot be played on the PlayStation 5. This is an objective truth. Additionally, Nintendo hasn't stated the Nintendo Switch 3 (or whatever their next-generation console will be called) will continue to be backwards compatible for previous-generation titles, and Sony hasn't stated that the PlayStation 6 will continue to be backwards compatibility previous-generation PlayStation titles.
And I already explained that nobody can guarantee this. Not Microsoft, not Nintendo, not Sony... not even Steam, which is the undisputed king for backwards compatibility.
For some reason you're acting like Sony and Nintendo are the champions of backwards compatibility now, and this is based on a single console generation having backwards compatibility (Nintendo Switch to Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5). These companies haven't stated future plans, definitive or speculative, regarding continuing to keep all titles backwards compatible. So when I said this wasn't Microsoft-specific, your response should have been far more submissive if you weren't engaging in console warring.
You're acting like a teenage girl. All drama, no subsentence. If the claim that you don't care about any of these corporations was accurate, you wouldn't be singling Microsoft out for something that Nintendo and Sony are both equal participants in, and who both have a worse track record regarding backwards compatibility.
That you presumed backwards compatibility, which, by its nature, cannot be guaranteed by anyone, is your own fault. It's fine to be disappointed that a new console won't have backwards compatibility. But to be pissed about it? Do you understand how technology works? That's crazy. Also, if you truly cared about backwards compatibility then consoles aren't the answer. You should stick to PC gaming exclusively, and even then there's no guarantee that titles will work forever on newer hardware.
Also, you didn't come in this thread stating, "This is how I feel," and leave it at that. Your first response in this thread was, "Why buy any of this shit when you can't take the VAST majority with you to the handheld natively? Let's just hope they have FULL backwards compatibility for their next console..." Because you have this hang-up, you thought it was fine to judge others for not having this hang up. And when people didn't agree with you, you then insulted them.

wasn't being obtuse when he responded to you. You said, "Why buy..." He responded saying why he would buy the games. You then called him obtuse and said it was obvious that you were referring to future consoles, but that is your hang-up, not his. So calling him obtuse is you not liking his reasons for still buying these games, which was the question you asked. If you had come into this thread saying, "Man, I'm really concerned and/or disappointed that the next-generation Xbox might not have backwards compatibility," nobody would have been upset with that statement. Although they might have asked why you think that it won't have backwards compatibility since there has been zero discussion from Microsoft to indicate that it is going away, and your only thing to point to is a handheld console which is meaningless since that is a PC handheld, not a console handheld.
To be clear, I didn't originally accuse you of console warring. I was actually pretty respectful until you replied like a cunt. What I said was, "I can't tell if you're trolling, console warring, or you simply have a limited perspective." Trolling was an option. Console warring was an option. Having a limited perspective was an option. I opted not to accuse you of any of those, and I continued my response as if the latter option was the issue. And what response did that get me?
So, with respect, go eat every dick. You didn't "seem harsh". You were antagonistic from the start. Reply if you want, but I'm done engaging with someone who is going to behave like an immature bottom-feeder.
