Unless he was especially horrible personality-wise, this kind of sounds par for the course in terms of typical roommate fare - you're not always going to have the same tastes in everything.

At university, renting a house with nine other friends just off-campus. It's technically two units; a 7-tenant main house and a 3-tenant basement apartment, but everyone knows each other so the door between the two units is always open. It's been surprisingly fantastic and amicable, but there are a few instances of personality clashes as would happen anywhere.
Smelling of cat piss is probably the bigger of those two 'problems.'
It's pretty bad, I've met the guy. Awful, awful person.

PAX is Penny Arcade Expo. (Not everybody knows )
They have never seemed that interesting to me for some reason. I never read up on it when it's actually going on. It just kinda comes and goes for me. I'm sure it's a fun event though. I would probably go, but I wouldn't want to waste time and money driving or flying to Washington.

Yeah same, I've never sat down and taken a look at what the schedule is for those things but there has to be something to it considering the endless positive word of mouth. I think I'd have fun...videogames and stuff.
The only convention I've really been interested in going to is one that isn't open to the public. Going to GDC would be amazing, I find the behind the scenes stuff and dev talks for games absolutely fascinating.
