Best and worst looking Pokemon from each generation

One of the things that I've noticed is that I seemed to forgot to reply about what's the worst Pokemon design that I've ever seen. To me...

Well, I hope that no one minds the fact that I don't like the first batch of starters by any degree. That means the Gen I starters. (Excluding Pikachu and co.)

Goddamnit Beef. You're the professor of getting others to have beef with you! Dunsparce is awesome. I'll probably be the only one who likes it since everybody forgets it even exists but I never will. I NEVER WILL!

I love Dunsparce! Like a lot of gen 2 Pokemon I wish it evolved into something more useful in fights, but it holds a special place in my heart.

I also think Mantyke, Lillpup, and Joltik are adorable.

For some reason, I like the look of the first and second generation (probably third too) of Pokemon because they resembled living/non-living things you see, but in the latter generations most of the new Pokemon look like aliens.

Is it the same person who designs Pokémon's today as designed Pokémon's for the first generation? If so, they should really bring in someone new.

A new Pokémon that doesn't have a cluttered design? Nice!

They did and this was the result:

Also there's plenty on new non cluttered designs.
Like the King of Pokémon himself!

That's because they are aliens.

What never made sense to me is why Dunsparce doesn't evolve into Yanma

Dunsparce is too cool, plus Dunsparce is a landsnake while Yanma is a bug.

Yes! I am not alone! I too wish Dunsparce had an evolution to make it more awesome, maybe something with like TWO DRILLS!

Hahahah, actually I have a story on the first two Gen V. Snivy started good but slowly evolved into something I loathe, while it's the opposite for Wotter.

I picked Snivy, but I actually do like it's other forms. Oshawott grew on me over time, at first I wasn't fond of it, but I do like it. I don't like Dewott at all, though, but Samurott is an awesome Pokemon.

Kawaiiest motherfucker:

This is actually my favorite Pokemon of Black and White. A gem among rocks.

Damn, this thread. I'm 27 years old now and when I see these images, even though I own every gen, I haven't finished a game since Silver/Gold, but I freaking love the Pokémon universe. :(

Almost teary because of nostalgia and how fun that world was.

He looks like dw's best friends dad from darkwing duck. With a sombrero of course.
If only more of the newer designs looked like a sombrero-wearing Launchpad McQuack, I may have still been invested in this series.

The latest generation's designs look somewhat improved however. Just can never bring myself to get back into the series since it always feels like a new batch of versions which make the current games redundant is just around the corner. Maybe with the first major 3DS game, or a proper HD console version?

What I love about the Gen V mons is that their designs are really well done.

Well like, I can actually tell what animal/objects a lot of the newest designs are actually based on so that's already a huge improvement over a lot of the other gens for me. The weirder guys like the 'baggy-pants'-mon still have clean and simple designs while a lot of the characters who cameoed in Brawl (that was before B&W, right?) were constantly cases of 'what the fuck am I looking at'.

wut

Gen 1 suffers from that too

nostalgia = filter.

I noticed that someone in this thread said that Seismitoad and its pre-forms are ugly.
I disagree to the fullest extent.

Also fuck the haters, Dunsparce is awesome.
Cant wait till they give him an evolution..

Not nearly to the same degree as the past several generations have, and I already said 'weird' designs were fine. As long as they're not overly complicated and cluttered for no reason other than to look unique.

also find it weird to have the 'nostalgia goggles' line thrown at me after praising the newest game but okay

For the worst list.

Also it was great looking through the thread and seeing how great the designs in gen 1 were.

I think they keep the anime in mind when they design some of these, there has to be a bunch of harmless boring Pokemon to fill in the background and make the world feel alive. There can't be giant murder machines around every corner, otherwise they wouldn't be special.

This thread is hilarious. I haven't followed Pokemon since 1st Gen, but what the hell is that sideways heart thing?!
