Evacuation was just creatures. But it was an Instant which is great. Devastation Tide was nonland permanents.

I guess if they wanted to go all out and do all permanents and print a Boomerang that becomes an Upheaval I'd be down for that too. Though that would probably be too expensive to be playable.

Ah, that's right. I knew devastation tide was everything but land but I couldn't remember for evacuation what it was.

I've never played pauper, so you probably have a point about it in that format.

It's really easy to pull it off in pauper because the format is relatively slow. Unless you lose to turn 3/4 nutdraw infect/white weenie/green stompy, you'll have 4-6 posts in an average game. Cloudpost is really what makes capsize way too accessible

Is pauper all commons, or just no rares

Capsize isn't that broken. You've fucked up if you allow them to get both buyback and counter mana and deserve to lose. A Capsize lock is difficult to create.

By today's standards it's not broken since creatures and other spells have been power creeping for years but the card, at common, is still poorly designed and too powerful for what it does. You don't need counter mana up at all. If you cast anything that doesn't have haste or is capable of dealing an effect upon ETB then you basically time walk their big threats.

I used to play Capsize when it was new, I know the advantages :) In fact, I still think it's a damn good spell. I just never thought about how it would work in a unique format like pauper.

Been thinking about building a black/red damage deck that uses Bump in the Night and Geralf's Messenger. I wonder if I can make it work.

Nooo I drafted an amazing grixis in M13 and lost to a fucking monogreen pile of creatures in the final. So bad how those forced decks can beat anything.

I just discovered that you can print proxies directly from magiccards.info. I'm going to do that for any EDH >$10 now and use them until I'm able to trade for them. I wonder how much it'd cost to print these in colour on high-quality 8x11 paper?

Less than $2 a page. I've done this for a few cards, though I always try to get the legit cards (unless its for something super casual, like a Horde deck) when I can. I'd check with your playgroup also, since some people can get SUPER pissed at people who use proxies for anything outside of playtesting.

Thanks for the response. My playgroup is literally 3 people, none of whom would really care. About a quarter per proxy isn't a big deal for things I will never pursue like the original duals. What sort of glue would you use for these purposes?

So who's excited to watch the Player's Championship tomorrow?

Marshall is going to be in the booth over BDM. That automatically makes it better than anything else I've seen broadcasted by Wizards this year.

Kind of in poor taste since apparently BDM is sick, but still.

Now if only I could spike Rich Hagons food with bubonic plague.

Hey guys I have a quick questions for you involving sacrificing.

I am playing my friend and I have two Archbound Ravagers out. If I sacrifice an artifact for it's ability (give it a +1/+1 counter) does it only effect one or does it effect both? This question would also apply if I had some other random card with a sacrifice ability, I just wasn't sure.

We weren't sure if you could sacrifice a card toward multiple other cards' abilities.

This also applies to Shrapnel Blast too I guess, since I have that in my hand heh.

Something that has sacrifice as a cost works like any other cost you pay. You can only sacrifice something to pay for one card's/ability's cost.

Nope, you can only sacrifice it for one ability. Its identical to if the ability required a mana payment: you couldn't tap the mana for one ability and activate both.

Yea you gotta think of it like tapping land, you tap an island for one spell it doesn't give mana for all of them. It's also important to note that anything that has a sacrifice cost tends to take effect before the spell resolves, so even if it's countered you still lose your guy. So for instance if you cast goblin grenade, the goblin you sac dies before the spell hits the stack.

A little over an hour until the Players Championship starts.

http://www.twitch.tv/magicprotour

The top 16 MTG pro players doing cube draft, M13 draft & modern. Given the people playing, every match should be pretty amazing. First time Cube has been done in a tournament as well.

I don't use glue at all. The paper I use is lightweight, but kinda glossy. I slide them in with the sleeve. Anything else, be it heavier paper, or any kind of glue adds too much weight.

Man, this is so cool. I wish they were filming other players as well so we could go back and watch the draft from multiple perspectives, but its kind of unrealistic to expect that

They might actually be able to go back and track each pick that was made since they know what was in each pack. It'd be cool if they could put that up somewhere.

Edit: Or those judges are just writing down picks.

Lol won this nights draft and the prize pool was the worst anyone has ever seen of course. Drowned catacomb was the most valuable card in the pool :D

Fml

Aaw, I was hoping that random segue into Duels of the Planeswalkers was going to result in a surprise "And the DLC is out!" But hey, at least they confirmed September.

But here come actual matches! Woo!
