Forza Horizon - Fall 2012 - Developed by PlayGround Games

60fps is more important for circuit racing stuff where you need instantaneous streaming feedback for best lap times. For a game like this, where you're crashing around into stuff and sliding around corners and shit, it really isn't as important, even though it'd be nice.

Really like the new screen shots popping up. Hype is building for this game. Looking forward to picking this up. Still only getting the standard edition.

yeah I agree, in a mainline SIM 60fps is critical. No doubt when newer hardware rolls around 60fps will be much easier to do in a game like this. So long as everything else graphically is on point, 30fps is fine.

I'm really liking today's new media; the game has made some nice strides since E3.

Forza has always been a bit short on personality, and though I'm not too thrilled about the dubstep wristband brigade-- goddamn kids these days-- it's a welcome sign of life nonetheless.

Motherfucker! Just when I was getting on board with Horizon I find out my £18 pre-order has been cancelled. I can't justify full price for a ~20 hour arcade racer so looks like I'll be waiting a month for the inevitable price plummet. No disrespect to Horizon but these types of games always drop rapidly for some reason.

Yep, I'm sold. I will be finishing all Events on Forza 4 very soon (I'm at +90% and have the Porsche races to do still) and I'll be ready for Horizon.

Will be there Day One if I can get the Limited Edition. If not I guess I will wait until a version with all the DLC comes out. Either way will play this game.

I liked those. That is all.

That looks great.

hmm.. looks like a matte painting on the subaru

it does.
game looks good, and it looks a lot more open world than hot pursuit (which in the end was more of a few long roads with a couple junctions here and there and a few shortcuts).
Isn't that Subaru drifting around a bit too much though ? not sure.

Environments are good, but again, palette...too much orange. T10 and playground games need to learn subtlety, these guys really like dramatic sunsets where everything becomes red and gold.
I really hope they work on this for Forza 5; they try so hard to achieve realism and then ruin everything with unrealistic color schemes.

I don't think that they were aiming at a strictly photorealistic look in Horizon and I also don't think that they "need to learn" anything. This is their artistic vision and you have right to not like it but saying that they need to learn something is pretty silly IMO.
We didn't even play the game yet.

Welp, with this latest media/info, I guess I'm gonna have to pick this up on release. I was going to wait it out for a while since I'm for sure committed to Criterion's new Need for Speed, but Horizon is looking sweeter and sweeter.

I played the crap out of Forza 3, and was there day one for Forza 4, but for some reason, I never really played 4 as much. Horizon seems like it'll inject something fresh to bring me back.

EDIT: Anyone know why the LE isn't available on Amazon? What's the story here?

Don’t expect any wet weather to get in the way, though. Forza creative director Dan Greenawalt joked, “There are two things you don’t want at a festival: rain and cops.”

What a load of hillbilly.

Knew not to trust any other source, same as the night remark for 4.

Ah well, was hoping it was in but knew it wasn't when there was no mention of it in any of these previews.

Dan is afraid of water just like Gaben is afraid of the number 3.

this might be true for horizon, but it's the same in the main series.

wtf no rain ?? i can't be the only one who read about dirt roads getting all muddy in the rain. Damn.

I remember him saying about night races how "you don't want to race at night, who would want to do that?"

Or maybe I just made that up and only thought he said that. Sounded like something he'd say at least!

At least Turn 10 haven't been saying "we're not talking about weather yet wink wink, nudge nudge".

Not this time, anyway.

Shame they didn't come out and deny it as soon as the inaccurate reports started, though.

Great to hear that matte paint is an option on all cars. I feel like I'll want to do most of my races at night, to get away from the yellow filter. I wonder if that will be an option. If I drive up to an event at night will it take place at night?

Is this officially confirmed, or could it be another Weathergate?

Fuck, can't wait for this to drop. I can see now why Turn 10 had faith in PG. The settings are gorgeous and the whole festival atmosphere is such a welcome change.

Dan has done it again!
