Soooo does anyone else apparently suck at zookeeper battle? I thought I'd be average at best... but shit, these people are whooping my ass left and right! Please tell me I'm not that horrible and that people are cheating t_t. Yet I still play... getting my ass beat lol.

I deleted it for that reason. Im certain people are cheating. Lifes way too short to waste it on that nonsense.

So I just played another half hour of TWEWY and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. EDIT: actually I do know, I don't like it. That main character is fucking obnoxious and so I hope some of the story is about him maybe learning to become less of a total dick. The story beats between missions seem to drag along, he's always 'thinking' instead of actually conversing, he needs a smack upside the head, the little shit.

And the music, oh gawd the music. wtf is this shit? Different strokes for different folks I guess, I did after all love Sword and Sworcery for it's music, and I'm sure jpop fans must have hated that. Y'know, because it's subtle and doesn't make me want to jam knives into my ears. This game is taking up 2 gigs of space because the music is compressed? Fuck that, how do I turn it off? I wonder if I could just delete the music, free up some space and save my sanity.

The combat so far (a few battles into day 2) is odd. I'm not sure if I really know what I'm doing but I'm getting the hang of the concepts they're throwing at me, even though it's not particularly meaty or fun just yet.

So yeah, wondering if I made a mistake. And I'm also making a list of the people that are all 'omg the music!' and noting that they have terrible terrible taste and not to trust them again :P

I don't have it on my iPad, but from completing it on the DS it can emphatically be said that the story and the characters develop very strongly, so I wouldn't be concerned that you don't like Neku at the present time. As for the combat, I seem to remember that it's largely dependent on the Pins which you have, so you can build a set which clicks with your style.

You're only on Day 2, not even scratching the surface, it's an extremely complex game once you delve into it.

EDIT: I'm waiting for them to sort out the Mingle PP system before I buy the game, it's critical to levelling up certain Pins and is a big problem (in my opinion).

I hope so, this game is making me feel like an old man. I hope something bad happens soon and Neko has a good cry or something, maybe he cuts his arm a little bit, I dunno. As long as his character develops away from 'sullen twat who is wrong about everything' then we'll be moving in a positive direction.

welp

I had 3 buildings left to complete the game too. But my sympathy's truly with the people who made IAP's. Can't believe a bug like that can exist.

Thats a pretty bad bug that got through testing. Have they updated the game?
Not yet. Apparently they were about to submit a patch last week when it happened to me, but I haven't seen anything come up since.

Shit thing is, is that I was far from the first to cop that, I'm pretty sure people started getting it at least a week before I did. So it took them that long to create a patch to submit to Apple?

I'm not really digging their attitude toward people who bought IAP, either. "Get a refund from Apple" without saying much more than that is pretty weak. No way of recovering the game is unforgiveable, too. If there's a remote chance a game could be corrupted, a local backup should be made just in case.

Will probably be the quickest turnaround of any app I've paid for going from purchase to deletion... and that's saying something. Doubt I'll buy anything from them again, either.

If a game has a killer bug like that and you rely on IAP to make money I would pull the app until it was fixed, just makes things worse when you lose IAP stuff due to a bug which wipes everything randomly.

The Activision Anthology has a great package, with Imagic games too.

But the control screen is awful. The worst virtual pad ever created. It´s not a virtual thumbstick. You need move the finger for each arrow to go in that direction.

The follow the touch control is better, but too slow for games like kaboon.

You can select point s in the screen, like the ice blocks in Frostbite, but it´s not work precise and fast like a joystick.

They need to release this package in consoles, with true controller.

This always freaks me out, when I want to delete an game app and the message pops up 'this will delete you saves', does it? There's a load of stuff I want to get rid off but that message always stops me from doing so

Yep it will. You can back up saves by using something like iFunBox. But really, how many of these games are you ACTUALLY coming back to? Delete that shit man.

Removing an app will take it's safe files and anything in it's installed directory with it, the way around this is to use an iphone file browser on your computer to manually back up the saves and directories, or use itunes to make a system backup you can restore later on, however the later option will do a complete restore to that date so it's not the best thing to rely on.

But what if man, WHAT IF?! I think it's something like Infinity Blade and GTA where I have put many hours in to. I do not play them anymore but it just feels like such a... waste

Thanks guys, I'll check out the software

Well definitely back up some saves. I even backed up saves of some games I had finished, just because I couldn't bare to lose those hours I put in.

In other news, I've been playing some more TWEWY and it's not quite as hateful as I had first thought. Other characters are coming in now, and they think headphones-boy is a tit as well. Hopefully someone will smack him around a bit, or at least break his headphones.

But still, that music, ugh. There has to be a way to turn it off, right??

I'm at day 2 as well. So far I'm not a fan of the combat. It feels sloppy.

Day 2? Game is still totally holding your hand, combat is not supposed to be good at this point.

Relax about Neku being a dick too. A lot of the story is about him learning and becoming a better person.

I'm thinking about getting the DS version, because it just feels weird on my iPad. I'll play a little more though, hopefully the combat gets better.

I've finished Chapter Two of The Walking Dead this morning, and can't believe how brilliant the game and story is. I thought Chapter One was good, but Two was even better. Highly recommended to all.

They said they submitted the fix to apple, and it's being reviewed.

They also said they're issuing a 5,000 gold credit to all current players, so if you had that problem, you should be able to catch up a bit faster I guess.

The important thing to do if you have the null error, is to start a new character/game, so you get the free gold. If you just leave the game at the null error, the update won't see any existing v1.0 save games, and you won't get a credit. As far as why it took so long, they said initially Chillingo and them did a lot of testing, it was missed (something to do with cloud saves) and they wanted to be sure the fix works, not rush it. So Chillingo and them also thoroughly tested the fix.

They are also expanding the game a bit as well, but I think that's in later updates.

In another random note, I think the Kingdom Rush update should be due out soon too, with 2 new levels and heroes, and more on the way.

Oh I see, an hour in and the game is not supposed to be fun yet? Good design, Square!

Glad to hear about Neku being less of a dick later too. I hate the little bastard.

Oakie doakie, I'll start a new game. So it's safe to say that the existing save is *definitely* gone?

Also, I'm with Diablohead on this... if there's an app on the store that completely wipes progress AND has IAP, it should be completely pulled so no-one else is at risk of losing real-world cash. What if they loaded the app today and spent $10 on IAP? Apps have probably been pulled for less.

It is probably since my Commodore 64 days that I didn't follow the character on screen with my head in real life (looking like a complete idiot btw).

I have my neck destroyed now after a really intense 1 hour session with Bastion.

So good, so good.

I wish the Stranger talked a bit less when I'm surrounded by dozens of enemies tough...my poor English and the excitement prevent me to hear every word, not to mention looking at the subtitles....I feel like I'm missing the story (which, as far as I am, is a bit vague...I hope it clarifies a bit...what happened, who am I, where is everyone, why I encounter so few people...and so on...).

It's really strange...sometimes I have framedrops in some scenes, but I have no problems in others that seems to me MUCH more problematic with tons fo things moving on the screen.

Anyway if you are barely interested, get it.

I'm trying, I really am. I paid a lot of money for this thing, I best get something out of it. But that music... oh dear.

I'm not huge on JPop stuff, but I really enjoyed the soundtrack. Guess I'm on your "don't believe his lies" list now, heh.

Your fault though! Should have watched more videos for a $20 buy. :P

yep, I put about 15 hours into Puzzle Craft only to get the no-string error last night.

Honestly, I just can't bare the thought of starting over. 5000 free gold is just insulting. Outright buying shit is way too costly for that pittance to be worth giving a damn about.

I'm glad they are working super hard to do their best on the patch, and taking all the time they need to do it right.

I mean, we've seen them at their best before so, of course, in sure the patch will be smooth sailing.

wink, wink.

Pobably my worst appstore experience. I've never really had a game wipe my progress before in 30 years of gaming, so I guess i'm kinda bitter.

That sucks man, sorry to hear that.

No offense though, but some people are kind of asking for that. I mean, if you know the bug is happening you should just stop playing until a fix is released. Not sure if that is your case though.

But hey, look at the bright side. Never had a game progress wiped before? And the only times this happened is with an fairly inconsequential (in the sense of satisfaction from completion) game? You are very lucky sir.

Thoughts on Dragon Island Blue and Activision Anthology???

Dragon island blue is alright, it's probably the closest thing to Pokemon on iOS but that isn't saying much as there's not much else out there. There's no time based restrictions like most f2p games so you can play it for a long time without stopping.

The art and monster designs definitely leave something to be desired but it is somewhat addicting, it's closer to dragon quest monsters than Pokemon for me

You're already on thin ice anyway man :P You are occasionally so right that I want to shake your hand enthusiastically. Other times not so much :|

The music in this game is just so bad - actually, let me reverse and try to parse this out. The music isn't necessarily 'bad', but it is very jpop, very Engrish and nonsensical in that anime-soundtrack "let's go fighting love yeah!" kind of way. It is, to put it lightly, not my cup of tea. I like a lot of japanese music funnily enough but it's all on the more alt side (check out Tricot, they are amaaaaazing). But I liked the soundtrack for stuff like Eureka Seven etc, and from the look of the game that's what I was expecting. Cool jpop. But this ain't that, no sir. So what we have is lots of music that I don't really appreciate with no readily apparent way of turning it off.

And to make it worse, the music is uncompressed (omg wow!). Don't even get me started on audiophiles and their deviancy. For some reason, those people make me rage - I think it's the elitism that comes with having a hearing superpower "Oh I can totally hear the compression in a 256 mp3, it makes my ears hurt" oh shutthefuckup you pretentious wankers... And on a 16 gig device (yeah I know, get a bigger device), 2 gigs of uncompressed music is too much. And 2 gigs of uncompressed music that I don't even like is making me that much more antagonistic towards it.

So in my angry brain (which is probably more angry than usual due to the looming trauma I'm about to experience with iTUnes), I'm conflating audiophiles who will be sucking this game's teet about the PURE AUDIO QUALITY (much like PS3 people and their audio bullshit which also makes me want a PS3 less) with the SquareEnix weeaboos (you know, those people that buy 6 cd FF soundtracks and make posts about how Celes' theme makes them cry or something --apologies to the many people this may include, feel free to mock my music tastes roundly but you people are odd, go to a gig or something dammit) who will fool suckers like me into thinking the game might have good music.

Ahem.

I really want to make a thread about videogame music and enquiring why so many people overhype it, but I can't think of a way of posing the question in a way that won't offend pretty much everyone, so this post is a good release valve for me. But really my issue comes down to dubious music + waste of space. If the music was in mp3 I probably wouldn't give two shits.

But £15 ain't the end of the world, and I'm determined to play this for a good while longer, Japanese games can often take a while to sink in (like FFT which I hated for the first 20 hours).

There is no barb aimed truthfully at anyone here, I'm just venting.

TNo offense though, but some people are kind of asking for that. I mean, if you know the bug is happening you should just stop playing until a fix is released. Not sure if that is your case though.
GAF is a very, very small cross-section of the gaming community, though. For it to chart on the store (I think it did, didn't it?) there must have been thousands of people who bought it that don't read GAF or TA or what have you. I doubt they'd impulse buy anything from these guys again, regardless of what they may have created in the past. I can guarantee you that I wouldn't.

For any game to have the capability of wiping your progress, let alone one that has IAP (the fact that it's included as an option still infuriates me) absolutely astounds me. I just don't see how something can write to a save file that can screw it completely. Sure, maybe have an invalid amount of huts or currency or whatever, but to corrupt it beyond the point of recovery is nuts.

And what assurance do I have that it won't happen again? Absolutely none.
