Torchlight II - Launching September 20th

I feel I can make time for both this and Borderlands...as long as I don't' buy GW2.

D:

Since I figured Borderlands 2 won't have as much replay value with the main game (for me, the first Borderlands didn't have lots of replay value until all of the DLC came out), I plan on playing Borderlands 2 and hopefully getting it finished at max level within a week.

Then I can put hundreds and hundreds of glorious hours into Torchlight 2. <3<3<3<3<3

Yeah thats true, I don't think Gearbox will put so much endgame into Borderlands as they want to sell you the DLC's, Torchlight however is supposed to be pretty deep, with random dungeons and hefty loot scaling.

I didn't realize games had expiry dates. I'll be sure to store my copy in my fridge next to the milk so it doesn't go bad by the 20th.

Hmmm... I can probably wait on this till a steam sale, since I'm still hopelessly addicted to Diablo 3. Really looking forward to playing it though.

Kind of mixed feelings about this one. Played the beta and thought it was ok, not great. Only one class (Engy) really clicked, and I felt as though the higher difficulties really punished melee to the point of being rather unplayable. I guess it'll be a wait for impressions on the full product to see if I pick it up.

Was there ever an official announcement that it was coming to both platforms? Sorry I'm paranoid...

I believe so yes, have a search for their interviews, but they only confirmed they would work on it after PC release, so your paranoia is not totally unfounded on the off chance it does not sell as well as they hope.

I love torchlight and the demo was a blast. My fall is already pretty booked though. I'll pick this up in the spring/summer sales.

All the talk of 'fitting it into my schedule' and 'I think I will have time' in this thread is really weird. Especially with single-player games.

"Sorry Jimmy, I would love to play some CS with you but Dishonored is scheduled for October.... maybe I can pencil you in over here"

So they just threw a dart at a Calendar, right guy? I mean there's no way a rational and logical human being sat down and say hey, let's launch 2 days after Borderlands 2.

I have Torchlight 2 preordered and I will be playing it eventually but they have to release it at the worst possible time and I am sure it will affect the sales.

Whether or not other games affect day 1 sales, I think TL 2 will sell well over a long period of time. The game is $20 and will inevitably be included in every big steam sale and will show up often in daily and weekly sales as well. In the long run, I'm sure they will do well. It's one of those PC games that everyone will end up picking up eventually.

Why is it weird ? There are people with irregular jobs, hardly any spare time, no friends, you name it.
I'm one of those people who rather plays a single-player game instead of a multiplayer game.

In my case, it's simply a matter of realising that the game would require many hours to thoroughly complete and so I'd rather not start something I'd have to finish in a piecemeal fashion -- hence it's relegation to the time period between Dishonored and HA/AC3.

Excellent, as that date is just the excuse I need to not pay $60 for Borderlands 2.

My schedule is clear for TL2.

The trailer looks cool, but the release of a launch trailer 3 weeks before launch frustrates me. I am not a fan of the increasing size of the "launch trailer" window in the industry. They should just call them trailers unless they're coming out the day of launch.

Not to mention how...addicting a game like Torchlight 2 or Borderlands 2 might be. Get on that, and any SP game you have will suffer...causing backlog and so on lol.

I agree. The game will do just fine either way. $20 is not a bad price and is within impulse buy range for a lot of people, and for those that wait it'll be even cheaper.

Borderlands 2, Dishonored, Guild Wars 2, NUMEROUS Backlog games.

Of course Borderlands 2 taking priority, and they release it in one of the busiest gaming months?

They just effectively killed their sales numbers by quite a bit, hell I'm willing to bet they screwed themselves by quite a lot in fact. If they released it around or prior to Sleeping Dogs/Darksiders 2 release they would've been coasting in money.

Looking forward to it. I had a great time with the beta and I've pretty much burned out on Diablo III grinding.

I actually started playing the original torchlight not too long ago when I built my PC. Really fun game. I was thinking of getting Diablo 3 but now that this is coming out (for 20 bucks also) I think I'll just buy the sequel.

Finally! I'm just ecstatic to finally get a release date nailed down.

It sucks that this game just happens to come out two days after Borderlands 2, but I'm planning on juggling this and BL2 at the same time anyways. Too much looting!
