Torchlight II - Launching September 20th

Runic are idiots, releasing this 4 months after Diablo 3. They just killed their sales. La Bomba.

Between Portal 2, Revenge of The Titans, Guild Wars 2, DOTA 2, Super Crate Box, Bastion, Costume Quest, Limbo, Wizorb, American Nightmare, Lunar Flight, Hero Academy, From Dust, Jamestown, Harley Quinn's Revenge and CS:GO, I don't have room in my schedule.

one whole day before the end of summer, I'm being trolled here.

well its too late for me... I will probably get BL2 and I still play and love D3. I only played T1 for 30 hours and that was with a lot of mods... I thought a game like this with mods would keep me interested forever... 200hours in the d3 and I still want to play. I my get it later.... I'm sick of companies releasing games so close to other releases they had all of June it they released then probably almost no one would be playing D3 now.

Because Torclight II will be the better game, along with being 3x cheaper.

Exactly. BL1 was really underwhelming without the DLC, and most of the time you'll be only playing the main game to make yourself equipped for the DLCs lol

So was Torchlight 1. Without all the PC mods etc, it was a pretty so-so game. A great foundation for massive sequel improvements though, just like BL2.

The DLC didn't do much, if anything at all, to improve matters. Crawmerax aside, it was just more of the same for, well, more of the same. (Which, MMUR aside, was fine by me. Mostly.)

Borderlands was boring, especially in single player, and the skill trees were terrible with nothing but passive abilities. Torchlight did fine releasing near to Borderlands. I'm sure it will be the same with their sequels.

Because it had like a 50% off sale a few weeks later if I remember correctly. Which may or may not happen this year... (i guess it depends on whether or not Valve runs a fall sale or not)

I know, right? This should have been released in February 2004 when I had nothing to play. They missed their window of opportunity.

That does hurt the whole "did fine" thing. Probably because nobody knew Torchlight even existed. It certainly made them some good money though - enough to make an even bigger sequel for the same launch price.

I have hopes that the mod scene will be much better with TL2, with it being multiplayer and people actually being aware of the game. The beta was already a good game. It'll be great to see what the release version is like, finally.

I for one will definitely be playing this before BL2; I just hope I'll be able to beat Darksiders, Sonic Generations and Gemini Rue so I can get some of my backlog cleared before it arrives (I'm already about to finish those two).

I am sure most people don't mind, but does anyone know if this is coming to XBLA like the first one did?
It's doubtful. They had to do a lot of work just getting Torchlight to run. With multiplayer being added, and there just being so much more stuff in the game, I think they would say that the 360 just can't handle it. Maybe someone more technically minded can chime in about this, but to me it sounded like they pushed the system to its limits with the first game.

Borderlands 2 looks nice, but the original was a very poor game in a lot of it's key areas. Awful loot, awful classes and skill trees, and the area design did no favors, as well. It's going to take some convincing to get me to bite, but I am very willing to be convinced.

Torchlight II is a no-brainer, though.

Oof...right after Borderlands 2. Not like I could afford Borderlands 2, but a friend was thinking about buying two copies, maybe now we'll play Torchlight II since Diablo III was meh. Mainly I quit Diablo III is because I have this constant, nasty stuttering problem that will NOT go away, but I still haven't played a good ol' loot game for quite some time.

Finally! Was hoping it would launch during my summer break though. Oh well, gonna play the heck out of it anyway. The beta was damn good.

Fuck, two days after Borderlands 2? Really? Guess this is going to have to wait, I have literally 20+ friends getting that, and I think only 3 or 4 of them have even heard of Torchlight period -_-.

I also don't get why people are baffled by people saying they can't fit it in their schedule now. Its releasing 2 days after a highly anticipated multi-platform loot game which I've heard multiple times now is either the second or third most pre-ordered game of all time (was that ever confirmed?). Its also at the start of a busy fall season, and most people only have so much time to play games as-is. I fucking love Torchlight, but I'm looking forward to Borderlands 2 more personally (its my most anticipated game this year), but even beside that in the next 7 or 8 weeks after that you've got Dishonored, RE6, AC3, Halo 4, BO2, and any number of other high profile games depending on your taste and friends. Obviously the game should come out when its ready, but this will cost them day one sales. I'll buy it gladly at full price ($20 is a steal), but I'm not going to buy it until I'm actually going to play it, and I don't even know if it will be this year. Its just a shame they couldn't have gotten it out earlier this summer before these other games and the D3 1.04 patch hit (I know a lot of people who are totally back into it now as a result of that patch), they could have knocked it out of the park then.

Finally, been waiting months for it, good thing I finished part 1 few months ago lol.

Cant wait to play this with my friends :)

Looking at my syllabi I see that I have quite the work around then...The beta was beyond fun--it was absolutely consuming. It had its problems to be sure, but god damn I hadn't played a game with such a high distillation of fun in a very long time. Probably had more fun with it than I had with D2. I'm eager to get my hands on the Berserker again, and I rarely play melee classes in ARPGs.

I hoped it would release in June, as I hardly have time to play GW2 with my full college load. But hell, I will make time.

Aight so, I may have overreacted when I first posted in here (see: acted like babby).

The release date for the game still isn't great considering the releases surrounding it, but at least it's coming out. I haven't played Path of Exile lately, so I'm getting a little more interested at the release date gets closer. Still not incredibly interested but I'll definitely try it at the very least on the 20th.

On a PAX stream, this very question was asked of the TL2 devs. Max made the comment that TL1 came out around the same time as Borderlands 1 so coming out near Borderlands 2 he took as a good omen for TL2.

Glad that it comes out then, gives me a reason NOT to buy Borderlands 2 on launch.

before i couldn't give 2 beans about TL2 and all I wanted was D3.....

now I literally forgot i even played diablo 3... so TL2 is back on the menu!

we'll see though. TL1 got kinda boring to me and the style was meh in my eyes.

Borderlands 2 is now going to devour my Torchlight 2 time, but it hardly matters. Already bought it through Steam long ago.

Most of my friends will jump in if/when the console versions release.

Well it's going to be a struggle to get any playtime with either myself or any of my friends with Borderlands 2... Another blind preorder success ><

Seems like there is almost not hype around this anymore. Kind of sad. Is anyone doing an OT?
Anyone here who wants to host a 4-pack on Steam?

I get the feeling that pre-orders surpassed their expectations by a lot, so they decided to take a few extra weeks to release it.

Did they get rid of the broken enchantment system? That's really what ruined the first game for me, more than anything.
I'm with you on that. Thankfully, the enchanting system is completely different. Enchanting can never wipe the item of its effects, an item can only have about 3 enchants total depending on the skill of the NPC enchanter, and you can always revert it to its pre-enchanted state. And I think they made enchant effects show up in a different color.
I think a lot of us are jut patiently waiting at this point.
Pretty much, but hopefully the people that got turned off by TL will at least give the TL2 demo a chance.

7 daaaaaaaaays. Cant wait!

No OT? :(

Poor Torchlight. I am looking forward to it and have it payed for. I just will have to find the time between Guild Wars 2 and Borderlands 2 and this. Not a bad problem to have at all :D

Ef that! No controller support = no buy. I'm tired of cheap games causing me to spend money rebuying expensive mice because a perfectly good $100 mice has a broken clicker!

Bottom Line: Without a controller, T2 is a $120 proposition I ain't willing to take.
