You a fan of Pushing Daisies?
Yep. I really loved the first season, and the entire cast (especially Kristin Chenoweth) was just absolutely excellent. I don't know why I never got around to watching the second season, but I need to correct that. I didn't really watch the show, but I liked what I saw of him in Wonderfalls.

You haven't seen the second season? :O You need to get on that asap! It's great. I haven't seen Wonderfalls, but it's on my list. I'll pretty much watch anything Bryan Fuller does.

I know, I know! It's hard for me to watch shows when I know they don't have a proper resolution, so even though the first season ends on a crazy plot twist, I know the story won't have a true ending, so I've been putting it off.

Sigh, all my favourite HBO shows...

Anne Hathaway for The Dark Knight Rises and Rachel Getting Married (and soon Les Mierables as well) and Lee Pace for The Fall are actually the only two actors I can think of off the top of my head. I want to see Skyfall despite not having seen the previous two Bond movies for Javier Bardem and I'm looking forward to The Great Gatsby because I've liked Carey Mulligan since I saw her in Blink, but they aren't the sole reason I want to see those movies.

You should watch Casino Royale.

Huh? My Deadwood fan-fiction is totally canonical.**†

*The best show on HBO has yet to be canceled.
**I've never seen Deadwood.
†I don't write fan-fiction.

I know, but I don't really care for Daniel Craig, and I can't believe how long the movie is. I hadn't seen The Dark Knight when I wanted to see The Dark Knight Rises, so I ended up going to one of the Batman trilogy events; I'm hoping Skyfall has something similar.

I know the story won't have a true ending

I actually had similar fears about the finale before I watched it. I thought it would be a super abrupt ending without any resolution to any of the storylines. I was expecting the worst, but in reality the ending was really great. I think that it worked very well as a series finale. If you didn't know any better, you might even think that it was written as the series finale.

That's reassuring to hear. When I get time, I'll make sure to watch it then. I wish I discovered the show when it was on television instead of considerably after the fact.

Yeah, it had a good amount of closure in it. Great show, I loved everything about it

You're missing the best Bond film ever. I'm not really sure if Skyfall could top Casino Royale. At least Eva Green will always be the best Bond girl (I hate the term Bond girl, fuck misogyny).

I'm watching Homeland (i'm on episode 6), someone tell me this is going to have an awesome finale. I don't really know if I should just stop seeing this. I'm sure it has to be the most predictable thing I've ever seen.

Do you not like it? I thought the ending was quite predictable and disappointing. At least the last 15 minutes are. The rest is quite good.

I just marathoned through Homeland in the last three days and I'm glad I did. It has a great finale and momentum that carries through.

I know I've seen a Bond movie in my life, but they're right there with Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, and Indiana Jones in terms of film series that I'd never have thought twice about if it weren't for the fact that they're so popular--so the claim that it's the best Bond film ever doesn't mean much to me. I'll watch it though, if only in anticipation of Skyfall, and more importantly, Javier Bardem.

What. Lunch go see Casino Royale. RIGHT NOW. I don't give a damn if you don't like Craig, it's a good Bond film. Seriously.

"I've got a little itch..." *motions with head* "... down there, can you scratch it?"

*WHAM in the balls* "...To the right." *WHAM* "Harder." *WHAM*

I don't know. Carrie and Jessica are interesting, but the other characters are kind of bland. I'm starting to get bored, the story feels too safe.

You are literally having the complete opposite reaction to the show that I had. :( Watch episode 7 before you quit.

Hold on, let me just run over to one of the many theaters the movie's playing at.

Yeah that bond movie is pretty good. I wasn't into bond movies before but this movie made me like the bond movies (well maybe just the new ones.)

Yay, I finally tried adding two quotes at one post!

I'm not really sure if the characters are interesting or if it's just the acting. I don't know, the major deaths or plot points have been so obvious that nothing has surprised me.

LONCHE forget about Casino Royale being the best Bond movie. It's an awesome movie. Go see it even if you don't care for Bond.

Unfortunately Casino Royale isn't rentable on iTunes. I've wanted to see it for a while. Heard good things.

I generally like the Bond movies for what they are (although even by those standards Die Another Day was garbage). I still have yet to see Casino Royale but I saw Quantum of Solace and really didn't care for it. Excited for Skyfall though, looks great.

Do you mean Six Feet Under? Or are you too young to have seen the tv show with the best finale ever?
I'm going to let that "too young" comment slide. It's more that I can't sustain an interest in a show that's more than twenty episodes long.

I can see that. It all depends how good the show is and if it can keep things interesting. Some long shows are great rides from start to finish while others benefit from being short (UK shows are great at not overstaying their welcome). Main reason why I'm so intimidated by starting something like The Sopranos despite wanting to see it.

Oh, I wasn't trying to throw shade. You said previously that you were 18/19 and since it's a show that ended in 2005, it's totally possible that you never heard of it.

You should really watch it, it's one of the shows that made me fall in love with TV. That and Gilmore Girls (no judging).

I feel like so many shows overstay their welcome. I love it when the showrunners are okay with keeping it a bit short. I love it when a series is nice and concise. No filler. Just greatness.

Not really. You just really really like to talk about the gays, that's all.
When I go through my posts, the number of things I post about that are actually pertinent to the thread's topic is rather low. It's more that I just really like everybody in this thread.

I think Joan of Arcadia is the longest show I've watched, and that was only fourty-five episodes or so, with Doctor Who being a close second. After a while though, my interest in a show just begins to wane. I was really enjoying True Blood but for no reason in particular I just stopped watching the show, and despite loving the first season of Game of Thrones, I haven't seen the second season and don't really consider it a priority to do so. It's the time investment that bothers me. I'm not one of those people who can do multiple things while watching TV, so it always ends up feeling like a waste of time.

I know, I was kidding.

I actually checked out the first season from the library and then looked up the show on GAF only to read posts that the show goes downhill in the later seasons, so I decided not to start it. I'll put it back on my list though.

Also, I'm liking your new avatar.

I love that show. Alexis Bedel and Lauren Grahm <3

this thread moves too fast. Watch the sopranos, only a few shows are worth going back to. Most shows do overstay their welcome but the best are still highly regarded, such as Sopranos and The Wire.

Alright.

I found The City and the Pillar Revised so offensive that it shocked me to discover that Gore Vidal was gay himself.

book, right? what happened?

I somehow managed to watch Y Tu Mama Tambien when I was young, maybe 12-13 and my stomach 'churned' at the ending, it felt like a total betrayal on the characters of what happened. It was a very confusing movie for me. Anyways I love those two actors, Gael García Bernal and Diego luna, they need to do more films together. I

book, right? what happened?
It's hard to convey why I disliked the ending so much, as it's been five years since I've read it, so I don't even know if I'd have the same opinion. The story follows a man who has an unrequited love for his childhood friend, and at the end of the story the main character confesses his love and his friend rejects him. In the original version, the main character kills his friend, while in the revised version, the main character rapes his friend. The sexual undertones and idea of humiliation in the latter ending made me extremely uncomfortable, whereas the original ending gave me the sense that the main character's killing of his friend served as a metaphor for the destruction of this dream romance the main character had envisioned. That, along with the sex-obsessed portraits of the few other gay characters in the book, made me take the book as a sort of cautionary tale against gay people. Again, it's been ages, but I was really unhappy with the ending.

I know I've seen a Bond movie in my life...

First Shadow of the Colossus and now this.

Bond is amazing and I will see Skyfall even if everyone I know is lame and won't go with me.

Thanks. I've recently gotten into TF2, I love my medic and I love the heavy and his sandwiches.

Also I'm gay.

We really need to get a Mann vs Machine party together!

(Also, bald engie is far cuter than heavy/medic slash)
