His favorite poet and his professional role model both shared the same initials. This is why he gave Walter White a book by Walt Witman. Doesn't it make sense he'd make reference to what motivated him make the gesture in the first place?

Ah, the book was also from the same poet! That makes sense then. And it also means Hank wont go out guns ablazing, pants down. But that "click" just happened to get that ball rolling, and let's face it, Walt has been snooping around far too much. Do not forget that drunk speech he gave to Hank about Heisenberg. Hubris all around

Skylar will definitely end up in prison, dying is too easy of an option. She is the person, you may hate her, but she's the person who carries this burden unwillingly. Her in jail would destroy her. Flynn and Holly will end up in foster homes.

Put a guy's wife in prison, make him go on the run AND refuse to take in his kids? And I thought Walt was the villain of this show.

oh, and the camera angle and filter, plus the music guitar break while Saul pours the liqour. AMAZING.

If confronted, Walt could always lie and say that yes, he knew Gale and helped him out with some chemistry questions, but didn't realize it was being used for illicit meth production until Hank showed him the notebook, and freaked out and lied about not knowing him because he was scared of being arrested.

Of course, I doubt Hank will confront Walt. Without concrete evidence, he won't be able to do anything to Walt, and the slightest indication that Hank knows will cause Walt to flee and/or cover his tracks.

I'm sure Walt just forgot about that book like the rest of us.

The ending felt a bit anti climactic, but that's only because I think we all knew with only 8 episodes left Hank had to find out tonight. Hank was always going to find some subtle hint connecting Walt to Heisenberg, and then let the games begin. Now they have 7 episodes to lead up to the cold opener of this season.

That transition between hank and his lab....fucking wow...can't get over it.

So, to ultimately clarify (forgive me):

-Gale writes to a poet? (Wait, why?? Why would he do that, was he intending to give it to the poet?)
-He also writes to Walt, giving him the book of the first poet?

I just dont get why he wrote that out to the poet.

His question, and now my question: Why the hell did they never use Crystal Blue Persuasion as an intro or in a montage or something yet? Perhaps saving it for the final elisode? I would link the song but I'm on my Vita. Hopefully some kind soul can so you all can hear how great it'd fit with the show.

Doesn't really matter what Walt says regardless, he can't deflect Hank's suspicion anymore.

think it showed Gale giving the book to Walt. Think Walt was reading it in his Condo. It's existed for awhile.

When? What specific episode?

Gale is introduced and recites the poem in one uninterrupted string of scenes. There's another unrelated scene and then we cut to Walt reading the book.

Gale is a big Walt Whitman fan and a big Walter White fan. He is also weird and a gigantic nerd and no doubt got quite a thrill from the coincidental similarities in their names. So he dedicated the lab notes for his own peculiar satisfaction.

Because Gale was eccentric.

.

yep he could say that Gale was from grey matter or something like that and he was helping him with a new project.

Hank vs walt is going to be a great game of cat and mouse

Maybe we just didn't see the scene where Walt got the book. It doesn't matter, he got the book from Gale at some point and kept it. Maybe they'll show us in the 2nd half but either way it's irrelevant what matters is it connects him to Gale directly and Hank knows it.

Why do people talk to an invisible god. People just do things. Gale liked the poet and dedicated something to him.

How? Where would he have met Gale and why would Gale help Walt?

Well, i think it is pretty safe to say that the Ricin will be saved for Hank... Whether Walt is successful in using it or not is another story...

I am thinking he will be successful, but Hank will have already told Gomez, who tells Marie and Skyler and that puts him on the run.

As for the "something chilling with Holly" Comment, isn't it obvious Dean Norris was trolling you people?

omg omg omggggggggggggg Just Finished wathcing it over friends house its good its soooooo good damn it AMC now got to wait for months damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn this one was soo intense

But Gale was connected to Gus, which is connected to the meth lab.

And Hank isn't stupid, he's gonna remember Walt's other questionable actions whenever meth was involved. Remember the car crash in Crawl Space? Or when Walt had to plant the bug on Gus' car? Or the fact Walt wasn't there during the DEA sweep at the S4 finale?

The Whitman book was just the key to the door.

Yeah the 2nd half season opener would probably be a flashback scene of Walt and Gale as he gives him the book and with Walt storing it in his bathroom then it ends with BB's opening clip.

-Drunk speech
-Marie's faux Car Accident
-fugue state
-Magnet bomb
-the GPS tracker on Gus revealing nothing
-purposely getting him in a wreck so he couldn't check out the laundry facility.
-10 murders in 120 seconds
-Mike "getting away"
-fake gambling story
-car wash is obviously a front
-Fring's death
-Gale's death
-Skylar not wanting the kids at the house
-the expensive watch and cars
-Walt's medical bills
-his medical bills
-Hell, the missing supplies from the High school chemistry lab.

Things have to be snowballing in Hank's mind, making more and more sense as he connects the dots back to Walt.

Pretty amazing episode. I just have one problem. Did they totally forget that Walt made a business deal last episode? I don't think the other group would just stand idle by when "their" (as Walt made the agreement to be their manufacturer) product is being sold internationally.

How? Where would he have met Gale and why would Gale help Walt?

Professional interest in chemistry. I didn't say it was a good lie, just one that could create plausible deniability long enough for Hank to start really digging deep into Walt to get legitimate proof, and/or for Walt to skedaddle with the money.

Either way, I doubt Hank will actually confront Walt over the book unless he has some kind of concrete proof about it, and the only concrete proof would be a handwriting analysis, and that would require Hank to remove or alter the book and give Walt a warning. Hank's too good a cop to just scare off a suspect on a whim like that.

OK, well that I find hard to believe, more so than Hank taking a dump.

Anyways,

This still amazes me.

"You keep your business here..."

There's no conflict.

Why does Skyler have to spray the money for silverfish? do they eat money, I googled and wiki'd and didnt see anything that says they are a problem for cash. There are silverfish in my house sometimes I dont understand that?

Also what exactly was written on the first page of that book hank found? was it the same from before with W.W.? It must of said something else for it to make hank KNOW it was walt? can someone explain more about what hank saw in that book to make him know?

Also since Mike and Jesse sold their methlamine(sp?) to those guys, and Walt only has his, does his new pushers give him the methalamine back? They DID pay Mike and Jesse for it.. so how does that work?

Also the 5million Jesse wanted, was his cut for what exactly? was it the methalamine?

and Jesse didnt have to move? why would he of had to move? he says 'no Saul told me what you did' I saw Walt at Sauls office but what did he do?

I have sooo many questions, I rewatched the whole reason on my cables on demand, it doesnt answer a lot of this

forgot about the car crash. When ever Hank bought up the case Walt was kind of a dick to him
